Nokia announces Qt port to Maemo 5

Nokia announced the official Qt port to Maemo 5 and also published its initial technology preview release. This will ensure that now developers can use Qt to target upcoming N900 devices and applications can be easily ported to all Qt supported platforms including next Maemo 6 release.

This port is designed specifically to work within the Maemo 5 environment. The port itself will be based on Qt’s upcoming version 4.6 and is scheduled for final release in Q1 of 2010.

Nokia is hoping to see Qt as a leading framework for mobile application development. From developers perspective, they would be able to use Qt as a framework to create native applications. And with Qt Webkit integration, they would be able to create web applications and services.

Nokia Releases Firmware Update V30.101 for N85

Nokia released the firmware update v30.101 for N85 devices. The main improvement includes – copying the contacts from SIM card.

To get the updated software from your device, type the *#000# on the home screen or go to Device Manager. Select Options > check for updates and follow the on screen instructions.

Moreover this software release is available from Nokia Software Updater.

iPhone Releases OS 3.1.2

Apple releases the iPhone OS 3.1.2 update. It’s around a 241 MB download. The update fixes some of the bugs and contains improvements to the old version, including:

Fix for occasional crash during video streaming
Fix for the issue that may cause iPhone to not wakeup from sleep
Fix for the issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart

Following products are compatible with the software update:
iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS

The iPhone Dev. Team just issued a warning to users who care about their jailbroken or unlocked iPhone devices, to avoid updating the device with the latest iPhone OS 3.1.2. The 3G and 3GS owners should pay particular attention. The main reason behind this – at the moment redsn0w and PwnageTool are not compatible with OS 3.1.2.

Hope to get the updated versions for these tools in near future.
