Ulta Heirhead Swatch and Review

I've had Ulta Heirhead for a while now; I keep my Ulta polishes in the back of one of my Helmer drawers so they often get overlooked unfortunately. I'm quite pleased with this polish however, so on to the swatches.

Heirhead is a basic bubblegum pink creme, which I can never have enough of anyways. Shown here is three coats over Orly Bonder and Sealed with Out the Door. The first two coats were a bit streaky but the third coat really evened it all out and made for a nice, shiny finish.

Formula on this one was average; no suprises, good or bad. I like the color though - it's brighter than I anticipated which makes it a little bit different from my other pinks.

I struggled with whether or not to have this polish be in a white base or not, but I think the clear base for this polish really makes it versatile. I particularly like it over navy blue, but it plays well with other shades as well! This polish, inspired by the colors of the American Flag, is a clear based polish with various sizes of red, white and blue glitter in both matte and metallic finishes.

Sinful Colors Sail La Vie Swatches

I went to Walgreens yesterday and saw the Sail La Vie Collection; I bought just a few of them, though. This one is actually titled Sail La Vie as well.

Shown here is two coats over Orly Bonder and sealed with Out the Door. Formula was great, as it is with most Sinful Colors creme polishes. The first coat was streaky and I didn't think two coats would be enough. I was impressed with how nicely the second coat leveled out and a third coat wasn't needed.

Born Pretty Water Decals Review + Coupon Code

Today I have an item sent for review from Born Pretty! I chose to review some water decals since I've never used them before and I am so so glad to have picked these. I've had nothing but a wonderful experience with them!

I chose the little yellow hibiscuses for this manicure, seen above. The package came with a bunch of different styles, photos to follow.

I used two decals on each hand for accent nails. Shown is two coats of Brucci Sylvia's Pretty in Purple.

So, these were the instructions that came with the decals. I really do use the term instructions loosely here, though. I'm going to list, step by step, what I did to complete the manicure.

After painting and top coating your nails and making sure they're completely dry (I'd say 20 minutes is good, I waited longer however because I was doing stuff in between):

Cut out the desired designs you'd like to use. (Make sure you peel the acetate off; mine fell off without needing to be peeled.)
Dip the design into water and make sure it is completely saturated (This didn't take 10-20 seconds; more like 5 worked for me)
Use a finger from the hand you're NOT decorating - slide the decal off on to the tip of your finger. At this point, it should be upside down, full color design facing down.
Position the decal above the nail you're applying to and gently place it. Be sure to smooth it down.
I personally waited for the water from the decal to air dry instead of blotting it, to avoid messing up the design.
Once any dripped off water is dry, apply top coat.

Some things worth noting:

The "instructions" included did not mention that they would transfer backwards. I botched my test run because of this, so that's why I listed revised instructions above.
These don't work like those kiddie tattoos, although its a similar concept. You have to flip the decal around and apply the lighter colored side down, full color side up.
Once the decal is on your nail, if your fingernail is still wet, you can slide the decal around! Awesome! You can slide and gently nudge it to reposition it to exactly where you want. I love that quality about these; stickers and stamping have a much more of a one-shot type of quality.
The decals are so detailed! I love how fine the details are.
Water temperature doesn't seem to matter. Mine was cool from the tap.
The decal lay very flat against your nail since they're so thing, I like that.

Despite those minor complications these things were a breeze to work with. No lining anything up, no lumps or bumps. I love them and I'm going to buy more when I can.

May Ipsy Bag Review and Photos

I got my Ipsy, formerly known as MyGlam Bag, package a few days ago but was held up due to surgery recuperation. All is well though, so now I have lots of pictures to share with you! That being said this post is a bit picture heavy, just a heads up.

What's in the bag?!

This bag this time around was really cute. And oddly enough, there was a second bag included. There was no note of why, however. The products came in the bag pictured above, the white bag was empty. I wonder if this is because last month's bag was a duplicate? If so, major points for that consideration!

Bonus Bag

This month's bag had five products in it, including a full size Zoya! That nearly covers the cost of the bag alone; Zoya $8 - Ipsy subscription $10. I like it already. Lets get into the products.

A full size bottle of Zoya Neely, a color I actually really like! It's a super light minty green creme. Shown on the swatch wheel below is one super thick coat, no top coat. Such a pretty, seasonally appropriate color.

Next is Pacifica Coconut Crushed Pearl Luminizing Body Butter. So, I really haven't a clue how to review these sorts of things so (and I know I say that every time, because it's true every time!) bear with me on this.

This stuff has a light coconut scent; not overbearing like sunscreen, but really delicate and pleasant. It also has the luminizing flecks in it which are all over my entire upper body thanks to my inability to measure an appropriate amount.

Shown above is the palm of my hand that I used to rub the body butter into my arm. It shows on my arm too, but I was able to capture more of the effect on my palm.

So this thing threw me off a little bit. I thought yaby was the color at first. And then I realized it's actually the name brand and that buff is the color. I still didn't know what it was, foundation? Concealer? A quick Google search leads me to believe it's foundation. It doesn't match my skin though. And as I was trying to test it on my arm, the little metal disc popped out and fell on my cat that was by my feet. So now it's really worthless being the wrong color and having cat fur in it.

Also included was Juice Beauty lip gloss in "pink". Yep.. it's called pink, and it isn't even really. It's pretty and sparkly though and smells like citrus? Grapefruit maybe?

Finally we come to the dud of the group (I'm not even counting the yaby thing). Although I should preface this and say I'm terribly biased and that's why I don't care for this item.

Pacifica Tahitian Gardenia Perfume Roll On. The packaging is so cute, and I really wanted to love it, but I don't, not even close. Floral scents trigger migraines for me most of the time, and this is heavily floral scented, obviously. Smells like flowers and I don't spend enough time sniffing floral scents to be able to discern it's attributes.

Overall, I was pleased with this bag (as I always am, it seems!) I was really happy to see a full size polish of a brand I love (Zoya) as well as the lotion, which I like as well. Also, I think it was really nice of the company to send an additional bag to make up for last month's repeat - and I do think that's why they sent two this time around.

Layered Jelly Sandwich - Zoya Frida

As much as I'd love to take creative credit for this, I was inspired from a post on Reddit that I saw some weeks ago. I pretty much copied the manicure exactly, layering coats of Zoya Frida with dotticured flowers. Below is the final result!

There is four layers of Zoya Frida; I started with a coat of it before putting on the first flowers. I LOVE the final look of this. So much depth!

Sinful Colors Diamond Lust Sighting

I went to Walgreens to peruse the polish and found something that was new (to me at least!) The Sinful Colors Diamond Lust polishes are a glitter collection with diamond shaped glitters of various colors with other types of glitter as well.

Just thought I'd share these with you guys. I'm always taking pictures of stuff I see in stores and never do anything with the photos, so I thought a change was in order. That being said I'm pretty underwhelmed with them, which goes for pretty much anything I see released by mass production lately.

Wet 'n' Wild - Wild Shine - Jezebel

Not sure what drew me to this polish; I'm not a huge fan of reds and the shimmery finish, while pretty, isn't usually a favorite either. I looked at this a few times before finally picking it up. I've become a lot more picky with my polish purchases the past year or so - a lot of ones I think are pretty don't seem to make it into my collection anymore, but I'm glad this one did!

Jezebel is a darkened red shimmer polish; shown here is two coats over Orly Bonder and sealed with Out the Door. It was opaque in two, big plus! Formula was good, a teeeensy bit thick but totally workable. I forget sometimes that 99c polishes can be good!

April 2013 Ipsy My Glam Bag

I finally signed back up for the Ipsy/MyGlam bags! When I resubscribed, I was put on a "Wait List", for two days I think, then my account was charged and I received this month's bag!

I missed getting these, I'm really excited to have them back in my life - I was so happy when I saw the familiar hot pink metallic bubble mailer today!

Some general thoughts on this month's bag:
- I don't have a photo of the actual make-up bag, but it's the second time I've gotten it. It was given out last summer sometime. It's white canvas with orange and green flowers.
- There seems to be less items in the bag than the last few I received; not sure if this is Ipsy's doing, or just a small bag this month.
- I received three full size products however, so maybe there is just less items but since they're full size it evens out.
- The blush is a shade I could actually use! Huge plus!
- Not even sure what the hair powder would do for super straight, super thick hair?

So what do you think of April's Ipsy bag?

Jessica Lime Cooler with Daisy Gemstones

This mani here is so springtime! I loved wearing it and I'm excited to share it.

Shown here is two coats of Jessica Lime Cooler over Orly Bonder sealed with one coat of Out the Door. The formula was surprising; the first coat was a streaky mess but the second coat of Lime Cooler evened out so well that this mani only needed two coats!

The photo above looks a mess but from a bit further away it looked fine and you couldn't see the topcoat bubbles or small imperfections that macro brings to the party.

I applied the gemstones with topcoat and then sealed with it as well in order to have them stay put. And it worked well, they didnt come off until I picked them off. (Couldn't help it! But they stayed for two days without issue.)

Smitten Polish Berrydrops Swatch and Review

Today I have three of the six Berrydrops from a recent Smitten Polish collection. I chose the three that stood out the most to me and I think you'll agree that these polishes are just amazing! The Berrydrop polishes are "A collection of gumdrop themed polishes, with names inspired by berries - some real, some imaginary. Crelly bases with subtle tiny flakies."

Bananaberry Gumdrop - Huckleberry Gumdrop - Gooseberry Gumdrop

The first polish up is Bananaberry Gumdrop. I'm totally a sucker for yellow polishes. This polish is a sheer, yellow jelly-like polish with white flakes that builds nicely. Yellows are typically a pain, but streakiness wasn't an issue here! Shown is four thin (super thin) coats. I have a pretty light hand with polish, so you could likely do 3 thicker coats. All swatches in this post are over Barielle Advanced Pro and sealed with Out the Door.

Next is Huckleberry Gumdrop, I think if I had to choose, this was my favorite. Shown here is three thin coats. Huckleberry Gumdrop is bluer than Snozzberry Gumdrop which leans more teal and is darker. I don't usually go crazy for blues but I am completely "Smitten" ;) with this one!

Lastly is Gooseberry Gumdrop which is a fun, light shade of green. This is another one which won over my heart as I don't go for green too often. Shown here is four thin coats, although I could have definitely stopped at three.

Overall, I was IMPRESSED with the formula, but Smitten Polish always has amazing formulas. These applied super smoothly, very easily. I love the effect of the white flakes, I don't have any colored polishes that look like these, so they're most certainly a unique addition to my collection.

Formula wise, the OPI was great - I love a two coat creme! The Pure Ice was very fluid and went on super smoothly.

Bluebird - Fawn - Ladybug - Pick More Daisies v2 - Cherry Blossoms

The Flora&Fauna Collection is inspired by some of nature's most beautiful offerings. The flora (plant life) and fauna (animal life) are expressed in this collection through bright colors and vibrant glitter.

Bluebird;
This is a new venture I've taken as this polish is intended to be worn without a topcoat (although it can be if that is your preference!) Bluebird dries to a subtle, satin, robin's egg type finish. Shown here is three thin coats with no topcoat. Bluebird is an airy, baby blue creme base with brown and copper flecks to represent the speckles sometimes seen on bird eggs.

Ladybug;
This polish is a bright magenta-leaning red jelly polish with red and black glitter. Ladybug also has subtle silver shimmer and sparkles to add depth. Shown here is three coats.

Cherry Blossoms;
My favorite from the collection, Cherry Blossoms is a clear based polish with white glitter, tiny pink iridescent glitter and pink flower glitter to represent the Cherry Blossoms. If worn in multiple layers - I'd say three - "color" starts to build but the base remains ultimately clear. Shown is one coat over Sinful Colors Verbena.

Pick More Daisies v2;
Pick More Daisies v2 is a green jelly polish with green, white and dandelion yellow glitter with yellow daisy glitter. This polish differs from the first version in the following ways: a more pigmented color base, more daisy glitter and the tiny yellow hexes are a new addition. Shown is three coats - no base color.

Fawn;
Inspired by adorable baby Bambi, Fawn is a yellow leaning brown creme based polish with glitter to represent the "spots" see on fawns. Glitters are caramel, brown and white. Shown is three coats, but full opacity was reached in two.

NEW Oopsie Daisies Collection Info!

Hi everyone! It's about 4AM here, but I've been working on the new collection! This post contains some information for those of you who are interested.

The Spring 2013 collection is titled The Flora&Fauna Collection, based on nature and its inhabitants! This collection is a set of five glitter polishes with all kinds of shapes and sizes. In this post, I will share with you the nail wheel swatches. Later today (Friday) the official swatches will be out (although some of them are already on the Oopsie Daisies Nail Polish Facebook page!) So here is an introduction to the new polishes (=

More detailed descriptions will be in the post later today, but for those of your wondering about Pick More Daisies v2: it is more opaque, but still a green jelly. More daisies have been added and tiny dandelion yellow glitters have joined the party as well!
