Chelsea Handler developed a “relationship” with teen singing sensation Justin Bieber after the “Baby” singer made two flirtatious appearances on her late night show, “Chelsea Lately.” The outspoken comedienne recently revealed their love connection has begun to sour after his highly-publicized faux-romance with Kim Kardashian. “He’s a two face is what he is,” Chelsea told MTV News ’ Jim Cantiello earlier this week, jokingly. “He acted like we were in a committed relationship, and then he was prancing around with Kim Kardashian on the beaches like they’re a couple.” Cougar Chelsea joked she’s too old to fall for the 16-year-old’s wandering ways, and said she won’t be spending another minute on their fictitious affair. “He’s using the flirty card with everybody he meets, and I’m not gonna fall for that,” she said. “I’m 35 years old. The former flight attendant landed in the national spotlight last month when he made a dramatic exit from a flight at JFK, telling passengers off over the loudspeaker and then sliding down the emergency chute.   Reports swirled on Saturday that the airline fired Slater following his outburst. Jenny Dervin , a spokeswoman for jetBlue, had confirmed that Slater was no longer with the airline, but declined to reveal further details. Apprehension further sets in, will you be bumped, is there going to be a problem with my carry-on, is this one of the airlines that was recently cited for poor maintenance on their aircraft, etc. The airline said Saturday he was no longer an employee but didn’t give any details. After his publicized exit from the JetBlue flight 1052, Slater was on paid suspension. The response does not meet your needs, but you know better than to pursue with a comment or ask another question fearing you may be bumped and at worse arrested.   You now board the aircraft and as you walk to your seat you notice nothing but unhappy faces, conditioned, you try to pick out the next shoe bomber. But some other passengers said that the supposedly malicious passenger wasn’t being that terrible and actually Slater was acting weirdly (an internal JetBlue memo says he lied ). There is talk of him hosting a reality show , but I’m not quite sure his zeitgeist-y 15 minutes will last long enough, so he might end up having to take up another working-stiff gig. Horwitz says he and Slater are working out some details with the airline but won’t get into specifics. Slater had been suspended pending an investigation into a profanity-laced loudspeaker tirade and exit down a plane’s emergency chute at John F. Schimmel, 60, was a passenger in his 19-year-old daughter’s car on August 26 when she lost control after swerving to avoid another accident on a Phoenix highway. The daughter was hospitalized, but is expected to recover. Robert Schimmel, famous comedian who specialized in taboo-breaking humor of the sexual and scatological died on Friday at a Phonix hospital. He was getting treatment for his injuries that he got in a car accident that took place on Aug 26. He was well known for his cool behavior and temperament. Schimmel made regular appearances on Howard Stern’s radio show and was a frequent guest on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.” He starred in comedy specials for Showtime and HBO, shot a sitcom pilot for Fox and made several well-received comedy CDs. Bragman said Aliyah Schimmel swerved to avoid another vehicle and lost control of the car, sending it rolling to the side of the freeway.

His direct observations cannot be denied. His 11-year-old son, who also was in the car, was reportedly released from the hospital hours after the accident. He turned his pain into laughs. In 1986, Dangerfield invited Schimmel to perform on his HBO “Young Comedians Special,” setting the young comic on his path to fame. Humor is what gets you through everything, and it got him through everything.” Robert Schimmel was born Jan. 16, 1950, in New York City. His first marriage ended in a messy divorce; he was on the brink of splitting with his second wife. He served in the Air Force and his practical joking frequently got him in trouble with his superiors, his brother said.

Schimmel’s 11-year-old son was also a passenger in the car and was uninjured, according to media reports. The actor was best known for his radio work on “The Howard Stern Show” and had appeared on several HBO programs, including his own special, “Unprotected.” Schimmel had a heart attack in 1998 and in 2000 was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, from which he recovered.

According to The Hollywood Reporter , George Clooney’s turn as a hitman dodging danger in Italy to carry out one last mission, raked in an estimated $12.9 million, besting “Machete” at the close of its debut weekend in theaters. After barely edging past “The American” on Friday, “Machete” will wrap up its debut weekend right behind “Takers” with a third-place finish. Hot on its heels, though, is the weekend’s other solid debut, the exploitation revenge thriller  Machete , which banked $11.3 million for the three-day weekend en route to a likely $14 million four-day total. Well, he’s Jack to some, but to others, he’s Edward. While in Sweden Jack gets too cozy with a woman and when his cover is blown, he has no choice but to flee. For the weekend, the movie pulled in a so-so $12.7 million to bring its total to $15.8 million. That’s where he adopts the name Edward to use amongst his new acquaintances, a priest, Father Benedetto (Paolo Bonacelli), and a local prostitute, Clara (Violante Placido). Fox said the audience was 60 percent Latino.

A true maverick, Rodriguez also wrote the screenplay for this summer’s Predators which came and went pretty fast, despite being a distinct improvement on the wretched Alien vs Predator: Requiem.  If nothing else, the cast of Machete should raise interested eyebrows, featuring as it does Robert de Niro, Steven Seagal, Don Johnson, Jessica Alba, and Lindsay Lohan as a machine-gun toting nun. The film opened at number one on Friday with $3.9 million but moved to second place on Saturday as The American rose to first place and Machetes grosses stayed flat, indicating that the movie has limited appeal outside of Rodriguez’ fanbase . The American is as a slow and deliberate as they come and even insultingly so. The performance brings its ten-day total to $38 million that should translate to somewhere near the $55-60 million mark when all is said and done. Dropping a scary 63% from its debut was Lionsgate’s The Last Exorcism with an estimated $7.55 million to land in fourth place for a ten-day gross of $32.3 million. Preferring to eat in rather than dine out, Eat Pray Love slid a slow 28.8% to $4.8 million and almost $70 million in travel bookings, Inception dozed at 9 with $4.5 million with the dream of $277 million becoming reality on a miniscule 7.1% drop, whereas at 10, Nanny McPhee Returns hitched up her skirt to depart the charts, falling 24.2% for $3.5 million and $22 million in nursery fees. When the pace has yet to pick back up after 30 minutes of the movie, it’s quite obvious that The American is quite the opposite of a thriller. Drew Barrymore and Justin Long’s date-night pic, “Going the Distance,” lagged behind stronger debuts like “The American” and “Machete.” The rom-com, featuring the two real-life, off-and-on lovers playing a couple working to keep a long-distance romance afloat, rang up $6.9 million in ticket sales to land in fifth place during its opening weekend. Hot on its heels, though, is the weekend’s other solid debut, the exploitation revenge thriller  Machete , which banked $11.3 million for the three-day weekend en route to a likely $14 million four-day total. “Machete,” which has seen its fair share of press and controversy , slipped to third with $11.3 million.

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 9/5/10 — Schmoozing and snoozing its way to the very top of the charts, George Clooney’s new “thriller” assassinated an estimated $12.9 million at 2823 europlexes this Labor Day weekend.   Close behind came action/adventure Machete slicing a bloody $11.3 million at 2670 immigration centers, but Drew Barrymore’s romcom Going the Distance failed to take off on 3030 runways, accumulating few air-miles with an earthbound $6.9 million. The American is on track to sell an estimated $13 million in tickets in the U.S. and Canada over the first three days of the Labor Day weekend, according to projections form the studios compiled by Hollywood.com.

“Going the Distance,” which stars Drew Barrymore and on-again/off-again love interest Justin Long, made $6.9 million. It had a budget of $20 million. Takers dropped one spot to #2 in its second week, bringing in $11.5 million. Opening this past Wednesday to get a head-start on the long weekend, The American landed in 2,823 theaters and grabbed $3.1 million for those two days. And a blood-filled romp called Machete was projected to debut in third place, with an $11.3 million showing for Fox. For the weekend, the movie pulled in a so-so $12.7 million to bring its total to $15.8 million. At 2, last week’s uncrowned champ The Takers stole $11.5 million on a 44.2% decline in bank robberies (grand haul of $37.9 million to date), edging Machete into third place.

Ask anyone who saw 2007′s Grindhouse what their favorite part of the film was, chances are they would say the faux trailers. The movie had a budget of $25 million. Rodriguez has gone and made a feature-length film out of the Machete trailer which Fox debuted on 2,670 screens this weekend to gross a mediocre $11.3 million.

At 4, The Last Exorcism did indeed go straight to Hell, saving 62.5% less souls for a diabolical $7.6 million (that’s $32.4 million in tarnished crucifixes), though keeping Going the Distance at bay which flew in at 5. The Expendables went to #6 in its fourth weekend, scoring a three-day total of $6.6 million. Therein lies the mystery not only of box office appeal but Life itself.  Don’t ask me, it’s Machete I’d choose should the situation arise, even though I like Drew Barrymore a lot and thought Whip It to be one of the most enjoyable movies of the year. That puts the action film at a total gross of $92.2 million and a total worldwide gross of $182.2 million off a budget of $80 million. Dropping a scary 63% from its debut was Lionsgate’s The Last Exorcism with an estimated $7.55 million to land in fourth place for a ten-day gross of $32.3 million. The Other Guys dropped two spots at #7 in its fifth week, bringing in $5.4 million. In fourth place,  The Last Exorcism made roughly $7.5 million for the three-day holiday, and should close in on $9 million through Labor Day, which would put its total near $34 million.  Going the Distance landed at a distant fifth place, opening to $6.8 million through Sunday; it won’t likely make more than $8.5 million for the four-day weekend. DioGuardi is a known quantity in the music business, writing hit songs for the likes of Céline Dion, Gwen Stefani, Faith Hill and many others. However, a report in People magazine from Aug. 12 stated that Fox had taken back their offer to Lopez because “her demands got out of hand” and the network “had just had enough.” “I will miss having her on the show, but I look forward to working with her in music for many years to come.” Her departure comes just as stories in Hollywood have swirled that the network had secured actress and singer Jennifer Lopez for next season and that negotiations were going well with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler. DioGuardi’s departure comes as the top-rated show continues auditions for its 10th season, which starts airing in January. Tryouts have been held in six cities, with a seventh announced this week for Los Angeles on Sept. 22. Then in July, DeGeneres, who was brought in to replace Paula Abdul, said she was leaving because she wasn’t suited for criticizing young talent.

The final decision on which would-be pop stars make it on the show rests with the judges, who are likely to begin filming their audition segments this month. In July, DeGeneres, who was brought in to replace Abdul, said she was leaving after a single season. It is not clear whether the next season of the show will have a panel of three or four judges. May’s finale was the lowest rated since the first series in 2002 with 24.2m tuning in to see former paint salesman Lee DeWyze take the crown.
