Here`s The Interview

Well you need no introduction and I don't think there's anyone in the industry who doesn't know who you are but could you tell us something about yourself that you don't think we know?

CEDRIC: When I'm not djing or producing music I really love to play soccer. I've been playing it since I was a kid and I'm really passionate about it. I also really enjoy playing poker with my friends and just hanging out with the people I love basically.

2. In the last couple of months you've been working on your upcoming album Miamication, can you tell us a little about it. Are they any surprises/tracks we should keep an eye out for ?

CEDRIC: It's been a really exciting project. I've been working on it for the past year and I have many amazing singers on it like Rachel Starr, and Caroline from Spirit in my Life. I also have a collaboration with Sultan and Ned Shepard on the album as well as BT. Dee Roberts also wrote a record on the album so I'm very excited about it and I really can't wait for it to get released.

3. Are there any artists that you didn't get a chance to work with on this album, that you would love to collaborate with on future projects?

CEDRIC: I'd really like to work with Nadia Ali. She's been involved with some of the biggest classics in the house music scene. Her voice is very distinct and unique which really gives the song something special.

4. What was your most memorable gig this year?

CEDRIC: So far it's been the Techno Parade in Paris. It was really amazing. Having around 400,000 people on the streets while we got to play was truly an experience I'll never forget and to be there with some of the biggest DJ's in the world as well was just really memorable.

5. Many new names are making hype in the house music scene, who do you think we should keep an eye on?

CEDRIC: I think we should keep an eye on Sandy Vee. He's a very talented producer who always makes very good records. His sound is very modern yet it's still unique from other producers. I expect a lot of good things to come from him.

6. Your style is different , you produce techno ,house, and progressive but wich style do you think best defines you and how would you define your style?

CEDRIC: I don't really like to brand my style because I don't really produce just one style. I like to make music based on what I'm feeling. If it's techno, progressive, house, etc. To me, if I stick my self in the boundaries of one genre I'd be limiting myself and I think when you're creating music the last thing you want to do is limit yourself.

7. What do you think about the blogs and the internet sharing tracks?

CEDRIC: I think the idea of sharing thoughts on house music and experiences is very good. That's why I started my channel on youtube, so that people can get an inside look at what's going on and see what it's like. Anytime that you can put house music in the forefront and share the love you have for it in anyway is a good thing. As far as sharing tracks, I think it's a good idea as long as you have the artist's authorization.

8. Beside your Miamication album what we can expect from you this year? In terms of remixes, other projects, singles, etc..

CEDRIC: Well I'm always working on records and projects, even if it's not for the album. I have a lot of other records that I have prepared and many collaborations as well. I've been very busy this year on producing music so I'm really excited to finally have everything ready for release for the upcoming year. I also have another mix compilation coming out in the near future so keep an eye out for that as well.

9. Many people have recently seen the new and very impressive Sleaze Studios. Unlike someone as successful as yourself, many up & comers are not able to to build such a studio. What pieces would you recommend to those building a studio on a budget?

CEDRIC: I personally recommend some sort of Mac computer as well as Logic Pro. As well as some sort of midi controller to go along with that. Those are really the most necessary things for producing. Believe it or not we all started off with something like that if not even less. I actually finished a remix once on my laptop on the plane. Having the equipment definitely helps but at the end of the day if you have the program and the idea is flowing it will come out good.

10.As label head for Sleaze, and an industry veteran. Where do you see Sleaze in five years? Also what advice can you give the aspiring artists to start there own labels?

CEDRIC: I see Sleaze continuously growing and putting out more and more music. This year we spent a lot of time putting a team together and getting restructured. Now our focus is on releasing high quality music and finding new talented artists. Starting your own label is something that requires patience and dedication. I think aspiring artists should definitely do it because it gives you the freedom to really create the music that you want too. You just have to remember never to give up on it and stay focused.

11. What do you consider your best work, and what was this years biggest track for you?

CEDRIC: My best work and my biggest track for me this year I think was Mauri's Dream. It's a very original piece and the sound is very unique. It's not the typical house song that you'd hear and I was able to be very creative with it. Of course Spirit in my Life has been my biggest success and I'm also very proud of that record. I never thought it was going to be as big as it became and until today I have people asking me to play it. It's a really special feeling to have a song that so many people enjoyed and that's why it's such a special song for me.

12. Where do you get your inspiration from?

CEDRIC: i get my inspiration from listening to all kinds of music. I've always enjoyed music since I was kid. I remember mixing house tracks for hours with my friends when I was much younger. Just listening to other DJs play and other artist's music inspires me. Even if it's just listening to certain sounds can inspire me to want to do something. Basically anything that starts getting my mind flowing creatively can inspire me to make a record.

13. you DJ all around the world, where do you think the crowd was the best?

CEDRIC: Wow - that's a tough one. There's so many places to chose from that have such good vibe and energy. If I had to narrow it down and pick just one place though I'd have to say Argentina. The crowd there is just so hyped up and full of life. They really react to the music and they really make it fun to play there. Pacha in Argentina for me is really an extraordinary place that I love playing at.

14. What was the craziest thing that ever happened to you on tour?

CEDRIC: Actually there's a story that's really crazy that happened to me on tour. I was playing in Sharm El - Sheikh, Egypt at the same time Sharam and Axwell were there. After I finished the owner of the hotel was doing an after party with them and he told me that he really wanted me to stay for it. I ended up staying for it and the party lasted till morning. Eventually I found out that my flight was going to be from Cairo and not from Sharm as originally planned. So they sent me in this pick up truck with a driver who didn't speak english and we drove through the desert for hours without me knowing where I was or anything. I started freaking out thinking that something was going to happen and I started calling Sharam and Axwell who just made fun of me every time I called. I finally got to Cairo and made my flight but it was really crazy. I'll never forget that.

15. Got anything to say to your fans?

CEDRIC: Thank you to everyone for the great support and love. I know it's very cliché to say this but without you none of this would've been possible. Expect me to keep working hard and making more and more records for you to hopefully enjoy. I appreciate all of you.
