We took a quick road trip down to L.A. this week, and as we drove from one small, rural town to the next, I was acutely aware that I really needed to plan a slow and leisurely photo trip to shoot the awesome typography and old signage that is hanging on by a thread.

I was recently tipped off to this video for the song “Maybe” by Ingrid Michaelson. I’m not sure how much of it is digital animation and how much of it is really paper-cut art being moved around by people wearing black clothing and white masks. Welcome to Alphabet City, a design/architecture/typography project created by Scott Teplin. His idea was to create dream homes based on the 26 figures of our alphabet.
Here’s a blurb from the Alphabet City website:
From the head and hand of master draftsman Scott Teplin comes a series of 26 dream-houses fashioned after our alphabet. Explore in each [...]

I so admire the clever minds that conceptualize and create stop-motion projects. What vision, focus and endurance they must have.
Check out the video for the song, “Ankle Injuries” by Fujiya & Miyagi. It wonderfully combines the order and uniformity of bitmap art, with the fluidity, textures and movements of being human, using nothing but colored [...]
