The next Chief’s “Citywide Positive Interaction Program” PIP meeting, will take place on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 7 PM, located at 1602 State St Houston, Texas 77007 (Auditorium).

July’s special program presentation topic will be:
“Violent Offenders Characteristics”

Presented by HPD Officer Dwayne Wright (Ret.) who is currently teaching and instructing many state and federal agencies on techniques
of interviewing inmates in correctional institutions.

The Show of Hands is an ASL student club of the Lone Start College system. They will be sponsoring an ASL social on Friday June 14th, starting time 6:30pm till 10pm. The social will be held at Spring Creek B-B-Q located at 4220 F.M.1960 West, Houston, Tx. 77066. We want to thank the 35+ people who attended the last social and would love to see ya’ll again. We welcome the entire Deaf community to come and enjoy a time of signing in ASL and wonderful fellowship with friends.

2013 Summer Deaflympics

Headlined by the first USA Deaflympian to compete in the martial arts discipline of tae kwon do, the United States is sending a team of two martial arts to Sofia, Bulgaria for the 22nd Summer Deaflympics.

Rusty Nawrocki, of St. Augustine, Fla, and Joseph Santarose, of Houston, Texas, will be competing at the 2013 Summer Deaflympics in Sofia, Bulgaria. Read the press release below.

Sagemont Church will be hosting a Deaf social on the evening of Saturday, June 1, 2013, from 6 to 8 P.M. (From now on, Sagemont’s Deaf socials will be the first Saturday of the month rather than the first Friday.) Bring finger food and a game to play with attendees. A great place to practice ASL and meet hearing students and members of the Deaf community. We look forward to seeing you there!
