Window Shopping from a Staged House

Doesn't this photo make you want to see what's inside? That's what staged houses do. They give you that inviting feeling. I had finished staging this Houston West University house, and was taking some photos of the guest quarters when I caught a glimpse of this shot. It actually made me go over and look through the window, and I had spent hours staging this house, and knew every nook and cranny. A quick reflection, no pun intended. I wonder what the neighbors thought? Anyway, certainly an interesting angle, one I had never thought of.

It's like going to your favorite store only to find out it's closed. You can see a glimpse of something you want, but can't fully see it until the next day. Much like this house, it's something somebody else saw and wanted and now it is sold!

The League City, TX Police Department are now using the new "stealth" patrol units. The Dodge Chargers are designed with the same emblems as the fully marked new Chargers that are referred to as 'ghost' units. . They are designed for traffic enforcement and Special Operations Unit.

They are equipped with a full police package, but the lighting is different.

These cars are designed to keep drivers safe from unsafe drivers who may not notice a police car sitting in traffic.

Death By Chocolate Cake

I got this recipe from Felix, a new friend I met at a July 4th party. This cake was a big hit, delicious, easy, and I just made it again tonight, I have company. Great for any kind of party or function. You can get creative with the toppings!

1 box German Chocolate cake mix
1 container of Cool Whip
Caramel syrup in squeeze bottle.
1 small can condensed milk
Regular sized Reece's peanut butter cups, chopped up to small pieces(to your tastes)
M&M's with peanuts, chopped up to small pieces(to your tastes)
Oreo double stuffed cookes chopped up to small pieces (to your tastes)

Prepare cake to box directions for the 12 X 9 pan. When done, poke holes in the cake and pour condensed milk over top. Let cool. Squeeze caramel syrup over cake in swirls. Spread cool whip over top. Sprinkle, the M&M's, Reece's, and Oreo's over top. That's it...You're done!

Apollo 11 Celebration-Discovery Green Houston

The Spacefest is going on this weekend in downtown Houston in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing. Events started Friday, July 18 with a film and a performance by Max Q, the Astronaut band.

TLC Stager Invasion

TLC throws their hat in the ring with thier new show "Staging Invasion". It airs on Tuesday evening's at 8/7c. It is a half- hour show that will take the viewer through a transformation of a complete staging in 8 hours. They will be using the owners furnishings but will use the talent of a massive amount of stagers to redesign, patch, paint and make the home ready for buyers, appealing to a broad market.

They will do all of this for $1000. That of course is taking into consideration that all labor is free, and the only thing of cost is the actual supplies. I'm not sure, maybe those are donated, I'll have to watch to see.

I hope viewers are not mislead into thinking they can get the same effects for $1000 total. Let's hope TLC will make that distinction.

According to Fiserv's data, housing prices will continue to drop before rising slightly by the fourth quarter of 2011. They based the data on what the market has jumped in one -year increments. They do say there are no guarantees, but think that housing markets will improve by 2012. They calculated the largest cities in the U.S.A., but here is how Houston, TX stacked up. Houston has been somewhat spared due to the energy industry. The Houston market is expected to drop in 2009 and 2010, but increase by 2012.
