If you have latest broswer like firefox 3.5+, IE8 , opera 10, chrome 2+ then you don't need flash player to play you tube videos. Now browsers are comicg with inbuilt player.
It is the beauty of HTML5.

Now that at least 3 important browsers support HTML5's video tag, YouTube added an experimental feature that lets you replace the Flash player with a native player. The main benefit is that your browser plays videos without using Adobe's Flash plug-in, which might slow down your computer and even crash your browser. Another benefit is that videos are treated like images and can be customized using standard CSS features.

For now, YouTube uses the h.264 video codec, so the only browsers that support YouTube's HTML5 player are Safari 4 and Google Chrome. Firefox only supports the Ogg Theora format, which is an open format.

'Our support for HTML5 is an early experiment, and there are some limitations. HTML5 on YouTube doesn't support videos with ads, captions, or annotations and it requires a browser that supports both the video tag and h.264 encoded video,' explains YouTube.

YouTube also updated the Flash player and made it easier to switch to a different version of the video.

How to Recover your Hacked Gmail or Google Account

Google, the online giant is not only famous for it’s search engine but also for number of successful Google tools that we might not be aware of. Google Adsense, Adwords, Checkout, Blogger, Orkut, Gmail, Webmasters, Analytics, Maps are few of the widely used services and hence hackers try very hard to hack account password so that they can crack your important data or informations. It’s very easy to protect Google account by following some regular guidelines, but what would you do if your Gmail or Google account gets hacked, someday?

It will be very difficult to recover your account if the hacker modifies your current password. Google provides few options to recover and get back hacked user accounts, but the hacker can play smart to make every attemp unsuccessful. However, there are two ways to recover hacked Gmail or Google account :

1. Resetting Gmail / Google Account Password : If you smell that your account has been compromised but the password is still the same, you should change it as soon as possible. Navigate to https://www.google.com/accounts/ForgotPasswd, provide your Google login name to continue.

If you had verified your account with a mobile phone number, a recovery code will be sent to your mobile number and you can reset your password using the recovery code number.

If you use Gmail, a password reset email will be sent to your secondary email address, from where you can change the password.

If you don’t have configured any secondary email address but still use Gmail, visit http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/request.py?contact_type=reset_password and recover the password manually by answering security questions.

Now if the above steps don’t come in your help, follow the below final method to get back hacked Gmail account.

2. Contacting Google Support Team : This is the last hope where you need to prove yourself as the owner of the hacked account. Visit http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/request.py?ara=1 and provide the following account informations :

Account creation date – Check the first Gmail welcome mail to know the date of your account creation

Last successful login date – The last time got logged in to any of your Google account services successfully

Last used password that you remember

Invitation code – If you had opened Gmail account via an invitation, get the invitation code

Other Google services that you use and the date of their creation

5 email addresses that you used most to send or receive emails

Provide name of labels, if any!

The only way to recover your password using the second method is by providing as much informations as possible. Google will take all your provided informations along with the IP address of your form submission into account while checking your genuineness, so fill up the form from the same place where you access your account most.

8 Mobile Technologies to Watch in 2010

At the beginning of this year, analyst firm Gartner released a report that highlights eight up-and-coming mobile technologies which they predict will impact the mobile industry over the course of the next two years. According to Nick Jones, vice president and analyst at the firm, the technologies they've identified will evolve quickly and will likely pose issues that will have to be addressed by short term strategies.

The eight technologies identified include the following:

Bluetooth 3.0

This is one of the no-brainers on the list. The Bluetooth 3.0 specification will be released this year and devices will start to hit the shelves by 2010. At this point, it's expected that the 3.0 spec will include faster speeds, reportedly transferring files at 480 megabits per second in close proximity and 100 megabits per second at 10 meters. It will also feature an ultra-low-power mode that Gartner predicts will enable new peripherals, sensors, and applications, such as health monitoring. The technology will be backwards compatible, allowing old devices to communicate with new ones, so there's no reason for it not take off in the upcoming years.

Mobile User Interfaces + Mobile Web/Widgets

Mobile user interfaces and mobile web/widgets were listed separately, accounting for two items on the list, but we think they can be lumped together. They all point to how mobile computing is rapidly becoming a new platform for everything from consumer mobile apps to B2E (business-to-employee) and B2C (business-to-customer). (Gartner did not include B2B on their list.) Modern day smartphones like the iPhone, Android, Blackberry, the upcoming Pre, and others deliver better interfaces for browsing the web, thus making it accessible to more people. Widget-like applications, including those that replicate thin client technology, will become more common especially in B2C strategies. Yet the mobile web still has challenges ahead. For example, there are no standards for browser access to handset services like the camera or GPS, the report notes.

Location Awareness

Location sensing, powered by GPS as well as Wi-Fi and triangulation, opens up new possibilities for mobile social networking and presence applications. Technology's earliest adopters are already familiar with social networks like Brightkite and Loopt which let you reveal your location to a network of friends. But we're still on the tip of this iceberg. Take for example, the iPhone IM client Palringo, they're just now adding location services to their application. This allows users to see how far away their contacts are, introducing a whole new dimension to mobile communication. Over the next year or two, this sort of technology is expected to become more commonplace, but it will also raise questions about privacy. Will you want your network of online friends and acquaintances to really know your exact location? Will turning off location awareness signal that you're up to something sneaky (so asks the suspicious wife, husband, boss, etc.)? As a society, we will have to answer these questions and more in the near future.

Near Field Communication (NFC)

NFC is a technology that provides a way for consumers to use their mobile phones for making payments, among other things. It's something that has taken off in many countries worldwide, but certainly not all, and definitely not in the United States just yet. Unfortunately, Gartner predicts that the move towards mobile payment systems will still not occur this year or the next in mature markets like the U.S. and Western Europe. Instead, NFC is more likely to take off in emerging markets. Other uses of the technology, such as the ability to transfer photos from phone to digital photo frames, will also remain elusive to more developed markets.

802.11n & Cellular Broadband

802.11n, a specification for wireless local area networks (WLANs), initially gave us pause. Although not ratified as an official standard yet, the technology is already commonplace. However, until it 'goes gold' so to speak, it won't really infiltrate the mobile world. Even the ubiquitous iPhone only supports 802.11 b/g at the moment.

On the flip side, the other Internet connection technology, cellular broadband, has the potential to make Wi-Fi almost unnecessary, at least for achieving high speeds. In addition to mobile phones, laptop makers will likely continue to incorporate this technology into their netbooks and notebooks using modern chipsets that provide superior performance to our current crop of add-on cards and dongles.

Display Technologies

Display technologies will also see improvements in the upcoming years. New technologies like active pixel displays, passive displays and pico projectors will have an impact. Pico projectors - the tiny portable projectors we saw being introduced at this year's CES - will enable new mobile use cases. Instant presentations in informal settings could become more common when there isn't large, cumbersome equipment to set up. The different types of display technologies introduced in 2009 and 2010 will become important differentiators between devices and will impact user selection criterion, says Gartner.

Contact Form: Contact form is a must have for any blog. Without it, you will surely miss out some good feedback from your readers. Most of the platforms either have plugins or in built contact functionality. You can also use external service like Kontactr if your platform does not support it
About Page: You should have a word or two about you on a separate page. This gives the readers the opportunity to know you much better. And for God’s sake, don’t make your “About” page full with affiliate links! Remember, it’s about you, not money
Landing Page(s): For new visitors, you should have a landing page that lists your elevator pitch and some of the best posts of your blog. You can also throw in a RSS/newsletter subscription reminder
Archives: Archives let readers find your old posts. Preferably, archives should have options to let readers navigate category wise or date wise. You can also use Smart Archives Reloaded plugin for WordPress to generate a list of all posts.
Proper Navigation: Proper navigation structure is a must have for any blog. And navigation does not mean just the top menu. Footer links like Next/Previous post are also helpful. Similarly, you can also include a list of posts/pages in sidebar
Search: I simply find it irritating that many blogs often forget adding a search widget. If you are on a platform that supports javascript, try Google’s AdSense for search. It returns better results that the default searches and also lets you monetize your blog

Top 10 Google Apps in 2009

Here's a list of my favorite Google services that were launched or were significantly improved in 2009.

10. Google Public DNS - a DNS resolution system that doesn't offer too many features, but it's free and fast. Very fast.

9. Google Fast Flip - a service that lets you quickly browse news. It's easy to use and it's a better way to discover interesting news articles than Google News.

8. Google Squared - an innovative way to dynamically generate collections and facts about each item. It's an extension of Google Sets and you can use it to create lists.

7. Google Wave - an online platform for collaboration in real-time. While there are many interesting features in Google Wave, Google's implementation of the Wave protocol is too confusing and difficult to use.

6. Google Translate added new languages, made it easier to find web pages written in other languages and to translate web pages in real-time. You can now use Google Translate in Gmail, Google Docs, Google Groups and many other Google services.

5. Google Maps aggregated information about locations in place pages, started to show more search results and to use its own mapping data in the US. Google also launched Google Maps Navigation, 'internet-connected GPS navigation system with voice guidance. It is part of Google Maps for mobile and is available for phones with Android 1.6 and higher.' Unlike other navigation apps, Google's Android app is free, but it's limited to the US.

4. Google Image Search added many advanced search options: color filter, size filter, Creative Commons search and an option that lets you find similar images. There's also a great Android app that helps you search the web visually: Google Goggles.

The Google Phone, the mystical Google-branded device to challenge the iPhone, Droid and Palm Pre, might actually be real – and coming in January.

Twitter reports from a CNet staffer and some Google employees suggest the phone, built by HTC and running Android 2.1, could launch in January 2010. The versions handed to Googlers at an all-hands meeting are GSM-unlocked. (It doesn’t look like the attached image, by the way: no pics have been leaked of the device.)

The best evidence thus far comes from CNet podcaster Jason Howell, who Tweeted the following:

-”Capacitive touch screen and on screen keyboard only, yes. Re: AT&T, it was unlocked. Dude just put an AT&T sim in it 2 test it.”

Google Phone: Google’s Brand Play?

If true the launch of a Google Phone would give Google the kind of brand recognition in the handset market that the iPhone currently enjoys. Like Google? You’ll love the Google Phone!, ads could proclaim.

Doubts Remain

But Google is also trying to get its Android OS on as many handsets as possible: surely HTC’s rivals will be more than a bit perturbed to see Google promote the “official” handset above all those running Android? And the Google Phone is a device that’s been rumored since at least 2007. These sites offer you the opportunity to lift your fellow writers’ success. These sites tend to frown upon you simply submitting your own links, however, submitting the links of the work from authors you love will ultimately help lift you up as well. You cannot help another person without helping yourself and the more you wish success for others, the more it will come back to you. They say that whatever you give to others comes back to you infinitely. We must all work to help each other succeed and only then will we all be blessed with success beyond our greatest dreams.

I once read that life is truly about increase, that when you are alive you are constantly increasing all avenues in your life. What’s New Inside Microsoft Office 2010

Microsoft Office 2010 – What’s New

Here’s a quick visual guide to some of the new features of Microsoft Office 2010 that you’re likely to find useful once you get access to the software.

#1. Save Office Documents to the Cloud

With Microsoft Office 2010, you can directly upload documents to your Windows Live SkyDrive account and access them from any other computer.

SkyDrive provides 25 GB of free online storage and, since the service is integrated with Office Web Apps, you can view and edit these documents anywhere in the web browser without requiring Microsoft Office (even on a Mac).

#2. Embed Web Videos in your Presentations

With Office 2010, you can easily embed video clips from the Internet into your PowerPoint presentations just the way you embed Flash videos in regular web pages. Just copy the embed code from YouTube (or any other video sharing site) and paste it anywhere on the slide.

#3. Quick Steps in Outlook

Gmail includes a useful feature called Send and Archive that performs multiple tasks. When you click this button, it will first send the reply and then archives the thread with one click.

With the new Quick Steps feature in Outlook, you can create a sequence of commands (Send & Archive is just one example) and apply them to any Outlook item with a click. For instance, here’s a quick step for “Send and Delete” which would delete the email from your inbox after you’ve replied.

#4. Built-in PDF Writer

All Office 2010 programs include a built-in PDF writer to help you save documents into the PDF format with a click. Earlier, you had to download an add-on separately but now PDF support is native.

#5. Document printing made simple!

With Office 2010, Microsoft has completely revamped the print dialog and it’s a tremendous improvement. For instance, you can tweak printer settings (like page margins, etc.) and preview the changes side-by-side.

#6. Broadcast Slideshows within PowerPoint

This is probably my favorite new feature of PowerPoint 2010. You can deliver live presentations over the web from within PowerPoint and anyone in the world can view your presentation using a web browser. It just works.

#7. Video Editing meets PowerPoint

Do you want to trim some parts of a video clip before using it in your presentation? Or do you want to apply professional styles to a video (like reflection coupled with 3D rotation) so that your audience stay glued longer? Well, that’s easy because PowerPoint 2010 now includes some very powerful video editing features.

#8. Distribute your slides as video

PowerPoint 2010 can convert your presentation into a video file that you may upload on to YouTube or distribute on a portable media player like the iPod. The video conversion happens in the background so you can continue using PowerPoint while the video is being created.

#9. Built-in Screen Capture

All Office 2010 programs now include a screen clipping utility to help you quickly capture any area of the desktop screen. The tool will automatically take screenshots of all open applications on your desktop (that are not in minimized state) and you can insert them directly into your document or presentation.

#10. Outlook gets social

When you open an email message inside Outlook 2010, it will show you related information such as email attachments, pictures, meeting requests and all previous email messages that you may have exchanged with that person (something like Xobni).

There’s a green add button that lets you “add that person to your online social networks from Outlook” but the service isn’t live yet. Until then, you can use these add-ons to make your Outlook more social.

Important: Before installing Office 2010

1. If you are installing Office 2010 beta for the first time, the default settings will upgrade your existing copy of Microsoft Office. You can however customize this setting and install Office 2010 alongside an older version of Office.

2. If you already have Office 2010 Technical Preview on your computer, make sure you completely uninstall this edition before attempting to installing Office 14 beta. In case you still have trouble installing Office, use the cleanup utility to remove all traces of the previous version of Office from your system.

4 Technologies That Will Shape The Future of Mobility

Ever since the introduction of the mobile phone, there has been a shift to add more and more functionalities to mobile devices. We have reached a point where there is plenty of functionality packed into a little device such as a Blackberry or an iPhone but we have also lost something in the shift to mobile computing. The quality of the interfaces has been always dependent on your thumb size.
Now that phones are handling more and more media, the display is being recognized as lacking, and even features such as Wi-Fi connectivity are still being fought over in courts. Soon enough those compromises shall not need to be made.

Here are some of the technological breakthroughs that will help take mobile computing and smart phones to the next level. This is not a promise of flying cars and personal robots – Roombas aside – but these are technologies that are currently available, and in the future will probably play a part in enhancing the mobile computing experience.

Virtual Keyboard:

One of the biggest qualms people have with their phones is the QWERTY interface that is often too small and restricts typing speeds. There is a perfect solution to the problem: a Bluetooth Laser Virtual keyboard which will project a keyboard on any flat surface. The keyboard promises to deliver the same experience as a regular keyboard even down to the keystroke sounds. If the laser can pick up a gesture as a keystroke, it might be made to evolve into something more picking up on gestures such as point and click and variety of other interface options. This device will now set you back $150.00.

What’s cooler than setting a phone on top of a table to play the latest Box Office hit, while projecting it on the wall? The idea of a cell phone projector hybrid has been in the works ever since TI showcased their pico DLP chip which enables small devices such as cell phone to have the capability to project on a screen. There were several models on the floor of CES 2009 including phones from Samsung, LG and a small company called Logic Wireless which, in partnership with T-Mobile, seems to be the most likely candidate to beat them all to the US market and make the projector phone available for retail by mid-2010.

Cloud Computing & Processing

The concept of storing data and using applications on the Web, such as Google Docs, is already quite popular yet still in its early phases. People still feel that they are connected from a different location and are unable to see the environment they are familiar with, for instance their desktop background. With advancements in both cloud computing and Web operating systems this problem will be solved.

With only an internet connection, a person will be able to augment his or her processing power by depending on a back-end server pool to handle processing intensive tasks. The possibility of having access to “Your Computer” from any computer will be a reality. Also the computer systems will be cheaper and sleeker since they will require less internal storage, and less processing power than the computers we currently have. One of the most exciting pieces of news in the last half of 2009 has been the announcement of the much anticipated Google OS, which promises to be a corner stone in such a reality. The Google OS will be available to consumers in the second half of 2010.

Guaranteed High Speed Connections

It doesn’t require a pundit to tell us that we are growing and becoming more dependent on being connected. So it’s natural that an internet connection will stop being just a service and become a right. The right to be connected to the internet will be akin to the right to a proper education. Following this spirit, Finland has proved once again that its a leader in the Telecommunication field by guaranteeing its citizens the right to a broadband connection. While France was the first country to institute internet connection as a right; it failed to tie it down to an access speed which is a crucial point. Finland went even a bit further by promising an internet connection of 100Mbps for its citizens by 2015.

Just by looking at those technologies that are available to us now, and without even mentioning other exciting prospects such as E-paper, the possibilities seem endless. By just going a step further and combing the aforementioned four technologies you could possibly be carrying a device no bigger than your current phone, that will act not just as your phone but also your thin client computer. You will be able to place it anywhere, connect to the net and go along with your business as if you are at home.

Thoughts and promises of the future has always been a passion for humans, and prophesying has always been a fascination. With so many technologies and possibilities opening up ahead of us there is one thing that is for sure: it will be and exciting at least until it comes.

Windows 7 – Your Next Wi-Fi Hot spot

It turns out that there is an unfinished feature in Windows 7 hidden away, a developer has found a partially completed feature that will allow any laptop to turn into a wireless access point, allowing all Wi-Fi enabled devices to share that connection. All you have to do is install a small piece of software and away you go.

A company called Nomadio, who specialise in military network consulting and development, have developed a beta version of Connectify, which takes advantage of the Virtual Wi-Fi feature in Windows 7. It turns out Microsoft’s research group had been working on a way to virtualise one wireless card into multiple, separate adaptors. However the project was discontinued in 2006.

Yet the code for this Virtual Wi-Fi made its way into Windows 7, but driver support didn’t get finished for it.

“A year ago, Microsoft talked a lot about this as a big feature in Windows 7,” said Alex Gizis, the CEO of Nomadio. “But driver support didn’t get finished. The low-level code is in there, but the driver-level stuff isn’t. And there’s no app or setting in Windows to turn it on.”

Alex Gizis said that his company have developed the missing part of software to make this feature work. This piece of software actually makes your laptop show up as a real wireless access point, and differs from the conventional way that Microsoft already supports sharing an internet connection with other Windows computers.

He points out how useful this could be in real life situations – It’s not only convenient but can also save you money

“You’re sitting in a coffee shop that charges you for a wireless connection. With Connectify, I can pay for that connection, and still have all my other devices, like my iPhone, connected to the internet”

“There are a lot of neat scenarios where this comes in handy,” he said. “For example, people can use a wireless printer without any setup, which usually requires that you first plug the [wireless] printer into the computer with a USB cable so it can select the network.”

Connectify effectively lets you tether your laptop to other wireless devices using a single internet connection. It even works when your using another Wi-Fi network. He puts it as a ” Software Based Wireless Router ”

It really is a great piece of software and whats best of all the Beta is free and available to download here. Unfortunately Nomadio has plans to put a price on it when they release the final full featured version of it, which they reckon will be ready in about 6 weeks. However they are also thinking of offering a ad supported free version as well as the full paid version.

Connectify runs on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 r2, both in either 32 or 64 bits. Connectify also works with the vast majority of WiFi cards that have Windows 7 drivers. There seem to be a number of Intel WiFi cards that do not have proper driver support (such as the 4965AGN and 5100 series, though it does work with the 1395). However they are working on a solution and will make an announcement when we have a resolution.

So there you have it, bet you didn’t know your new Windows 7 OS could act as a Wi-Fi hot spot? Whats also handy is Connectify encrypts the traffic to and from the software “hot spot” using WPA2-Personal (AES) encryption.

It’s about time Microsoft allowed us to do this, You’ve been able to do it on a Mac under ” Internet Sharing ” for ages! Just one problem, it doesn’t appear to be working for me……

CeeVee makes creating your resume easier

I hate making resumes.

If you're like me, you'll probably appreciate any tool that helps make creating a resume easier. Ceevee is just such a tool.

Ceevee is an online resume builder that allows you to fill in specific fields, and it spits out a very nicely designed resume for publication on the web or print. You have a choice of three themes, which are all essentially the same but with different typefaces.

Modern (the default) uses a sans-serif font, Classic uses a serif font, and Plain Text uses a monospaced font, though it still has formatting.

Once you've created your CeeVee, you can share it on your website by embedding code that will also show a CeeVee icon. If you make it public, you can also share your CeeVee using Twitter and Facebook.
