I planted tiny seeds from a gardener from Tenesee, it took around two years!! And the Hibiscus is blooming!! I am thrilled!!
Also I got two baby cedars trees at the State Fair ! Go to the forest exposition, they have the most amazing whole wood cuts! I loved today, I got great additions for my gard!

That time of the year has come, the time to harvest my garlic and replant the little onions. If you are planning to start a garden I would recommend to try garlic and onions, apparently they have few pests and actually they scare away other plant's pests. I plant the garlic cloves at the end of august and leave them alone until june, when I come to collect them.

My free and useful ring holder / Mi barato pero certero organizador de anillos

~I am on Organizing Mode so I have been figuring out ideas to organize my jewelry and belts etc.

Today I made this DIY ring holder(or DIY jewerly holder) It is made on a ) (zero) nada, nothing budget. I just revamped things I found around my home. Check out the pics and the little explanation of how I constructed it.

I have a few expensive rings -wedding band, engagement ring, and honeymoon ring- but the rest are the so called 'costume' rings, they are so fun and cheap, they are not worthy of a jewelry box. Hence this is the perfect display to place inside my drawer~

`Hola! Estoy pasando por una etapa de organización, empezando por mi billou (en este caso mis anillos baratos). Con lo que encontré en mi casa me arme un display/organizador de anillitos. Espero que les guste. Me costo $0. :) ~

1) I found these green sponges for flower arrangements, I could have use Styrofoam as well but I did not have any (not that I know of). I just punched in holes with a ring and then I arranged all the rings as I wanted them to look when the ring holder is finished.

2) Set the ring in the way I liked them, and made sure to have a napkin to wipe out the green stuff or dust.

3) I used a piece of material that I had. I eyeball the size of the material and cut it roughly.

4) I pressed in the material before sewing it so the ring would fit tight.

5) I passed the thread and needle all around the edges and then introduced the green foam block inside. You can use a thread of the similar color to the fabric, here I used black so it shows in the picture. Please sewers do not judge my work with a sharp eye, I made this in 5 minutes.

Finished Project!

I can see all my rings at once, and decide which one to wear...:)

Winter Break!!

I am back blogging after a semester break. I have been working in my garden all this time, but I did not have time to post anything since I am studying! I am taking more units than a full time student and with my garden, home and hubby I have no spare time for my blog!

Harvesting and watching them grow

Instead of cooking for hrs tomatoe sauce, I took my mom's advice and put them through the blender, they will go into the freezer -reserve for the winter stew or sauce-

I am harvesting during all the summer tomatoes, some zucchini, cucumbers, onions, garlic, etc. My sweet neighbor ( a lot more experienced gardener than me, I am a total newbie) gave a scalloped squash, and the funny fact is that where I come from they are called UFO squash, do you see the resemblance? I need a recipe for the UFO squash.

Durante todo el verano mi huerta a producido tomates, pepinos, cebollas, ajo, entre otras cosas. Mi buena vecina me ha obsequiado un zapallo OVNI, todavía no decido que hacer con él.

A lil of summer, un poquito de verano

This summer was a great season, I got to enjoy for the first time tomatoes from my garden between other veggies like zucchini and cucumber...

In a week classes will start (at least for me) and I am starting to realize that summer is coming to an end but of course that's no problem here in this state, the gorgeous season of fall is coming. I can't wait to see the leaves turning yellow and orange hues. Fall also brings lots of leaves for my garden, ya! it's like fertilizer falling from the sky ready to be picked up just like mana...nothing to complain about .

Este verano ha sido una gran estación para mi, tuve el placer de disfrutar de tomates que han crecido en mi huerta entre otros vegetales. En una semana empiezan las clases en la facultad y recién me doy que cuenta que el verano se está acabando, aunque todavía vamos a tener bastante calorcito aquí en California, por lo menos hasta Octubre (si el clima se iguala al del año parsed, veremos).

I am back blogging and I bring today some of my latest handcrafts. I will soon have a shop online, but do not hesitate in asking me about these nature inspired couture & vintage hair accessories I made :)
The story of how I began to do this dates from many years ago, I started making them after my mom, and my mom after her mom, at one point four of my aunts used to make them and sell them. I stopped making crafts while in college and moving or travelling but now I went back to this therapeutic activity. I love to make them and gift them, and many friends told me I should start selling them again...so here they are ( I have to add they all made in USA, I buy the fabric of the headband from an american factory and I am very please to do so...not from china, michaels or joann, they are not plastic but gorgeous satin fabric same one used in wedding dresses;))

Tomatoes from the home garden

Black Prince tomatoe with a stretch mark

It's middle of summer and tomatoes keep showing up in the vines. I am very glad with the produce of my first year's garden. Tomatoes are the perfect fresh treat for summer, instead of a piece of cake or chocolate, we just love to pick a fresh tomato and eat it fresh just like that.

The black prince tomatoes have an special flavor , I would say it reminds me of tomato juice. Roma and VFNT champion taste amazingly good. :)

Estamos a la mitad del verano y los tomates siguen apareciendo en las plantas. Estoy muy contenta con la producción de este primer año de mi huerta. Los tomates son la 'golosina' perfecta para el verano, en lugar de algún chocolate o galletita nos gusta comer un tomate fresco de la huerta .

El tomate mas oscuro en las fotos se llama Príncipe Negro, y tiene un sabor parecido al jugo de tomate, o salsa de tomate.

Summer Vegetable Flowers

One of the most attractive things about growing vegetables, are the vegetables you can eat (of course) and also the dazzling blooms . Later on I will be collecting seeds from them, I picked some to make bouquets. Love the veggies flowers. Carrots and Onions have striking white blooms. Castor oil beans have amazing fuchsia blooms.

Allium Appeal

I would only grow onions to have this gorgeous odd looking flowers in my yard. Roses are beautiful too but rad and odd flower are quite more interesting.
This are regular onion flowers, I have green onions as well as white onions growing, next fall I am planning to increase and diversify my onion patch. Do red onions have red flowers, instead of these white pompons? I will figure it out soon. :)
