Biography

Ana Beatriz Barros was born in a small town of Itabira, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Later, her family moved to Rio de Janeiro, where she spent her childhood. She is of Portuguese and Spanish descent, and is the youngest of three sisters; Patricia and Malu (Maria Luisa).

Barros and her older sister, Patricia (also a model), were walking on a Rio beach when they were spotted by a representative from Elite Model Management. Barros went to see Elite office in Rio and Sergio Mattos - art director of 40 Graus. They then encouraged Barros to participate in the Elite Model Look 1996, which she won. She subsequently competed for international Elite Model Look and placed second worldwide. Elite sent her portfolio, along with some recent Polaroid shots, to Guess? which led her to do the Millennium Guess? campaign along with her friend and fellow Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio.

She has done advertisements not only for Guess? but also for Christian Dior, Armani jeans, Oakley, L'Oreal, Naf Naf, Diesel, Ermanno Scervino, Victoria's Secret, Chanel cosmetics, and Jennifer Lopez's JLO fashion line, among others.

In 2004 Jennifer Lopez selected Barros to be the face of her new lingerie line, JLO Lingerie. Said Lopez, "I wanted someone young, sexy and urban, with a universal appeal." Barros has been in shows for the likes of Valentino, Missoni, Gucci, Christian Dior, Versace, Emporio Armani, BCBG, DKNY, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Dolce & Gabbana, Michael Kors and many more prestigious fashion houses.

Brazilian top model Gisele Bundchen has married her American football player boyfriend Tom Brady in a low-key ceremony. The 28-year-old model tied the knot with New England Patriots quarterback Tom, 31, at St Monica’s Church in the LA beachside suburb of Santa Monica on Thursday evening.

Among the guests at the service were Tom’s parents Tom Snr and Galynn and his 18-month-old son John Edward Thomas Moynahan. The bride walked down the aisle in a Dolce & Gabbana ivory lace strapless gown with a floor-length veil and was followed by her three dogs wearing D&G lace collars, Us Weekly magazine reported. Following the service, the wedding party returned to Gisele and Tom’s Brentwood home for a party.

Their wedding comes after the couple repeatedly denied they were even engaged.

Super fashion model Adriana Lima shattered more than a few hearts this Valentine’s Day as she tied the knot with NBA star Marko Jaric in a small private ceremony in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The news was exclusively reported by People magazine.

Lima, 27, is a Brazilian supermodel who famously works as a Victoria’s Secret Angel. Jaric, 29, plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“We are so excited about our future together,” Lima said. “And we are really looking forward to a big romantic wedding this summer with all of our friends and family.”

Now she’s turning her hand to designing as well, starting with a lingerie collection for French label Etam. Vodianova, who recently signed a three-year deal to be the brand’s global ambassador, will produce a capsule collection each season called Natalia pour Etam.

Initial pieces include a silk nightgown inspired by a vintage piece from her personal collection, a gray lace corset, and polka dot bra and pantie sets. “What I realized when designing this is how feminine I am,” Vodianova says. “I’m feminine to the bone.” We won’t argue with that.

Ironically, Kurkova was recently bashed as ‘too fat’ to walk the Victoria’s Secret runway model Karolina Kurkova has been voted the World’s Sexiest Woman by E! television, a mere five months after being bashed as “too fat” to walk the runway.

Kurkova, 24, beat out fellow Victoria’s Secret super fashion models Adriana Lima and Gisele Bündchen, as well as Oscar winner Angelina Jolie. Kurkova, a leggy 5′11″ Czech supermodel, was recently ranked by Forbes magazine as one of the world’s highest paid models, raking in an estimated $5 million in 2007. Bündchen, 28, topped that list, with estimated 2007 earnings of $35 million.

Ironically, Kurkova ignited a media firestorm in June, after she appeared looking slightly heavier than usual in a bikini during Sao Paulo Fashion Week. A local Brazilian paper blasted Karolina as “too fat” to walk the runway and described how “shocked” the audience was when she appeared with “back fat and cellulite on her butt.” The incident sparked a heated media discussion on whether the fashion industry sets unrealistic standards of beauty.

Recently, Karolina–who graced the runway sexy model during the 2008 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Miami–caused a stir when rumors swirled about her unusually smooth-looking belly button. Victoria’s Secret reps have confirmed that Kurkova has no belly button, and that one is edited in whenever her mid-section is photographed. Supermodel Elle Macpherson denies romantic involvement with ‘drug smuggler’

The Super model Elle Macpherson has denied any romantic involvement with a convicted drug smuggler, claiming they are just good friends.

The 44-year-old has been photographed out with Brian Burgess, who was found guilty of drug trafficking in Australia in 1996.

He was sentenced to four years for attempting to smuggle 2kg of cocaine from the US in hollowed-out boots.

He was deported to England, where he was born, after serving out his jail term. He left a wife and three children in Australia.

Burgess, 56, now owns a removals company called Aussie Man&Van and reportedly met Macpherson when he helped her move from Notting Hill to Ladbroke Grove in west London.

The pair were photographed driving around London in the Australian supermodel’s Aston Martin convertible.

She has issued a statement in which she “emphatically denies that there is any romantic association” between them, but praises Burgess for turning his life around since leaving prison.

“Miss Macpherson is aware of Mr Burgess’s past conduct and also that Mr Burgess has, and continues to take, significant steps towards restoring his life,” the statement said.

The News of the World reported female model Macpherson collected Burgess from a Chelsea car showroom where he had been looking at Jaguar cars.

“The salesman was an Aussie and they were getting on great,” the newspaper quoted an onlooker as saying.

“Brian was saying how he had been seeing a new girlfriend for a few weeks. He added: ‘I’ve got to go, she’s picking me up’. “Then Elle turns up in her car. I couldn’t believe it.” Aussie Man & Van manager John Hess said Burgess’s drugs conviction was “all in the past”. “This guy spends most of his time counselling people with drug and alcohol addiction,” he said. Before his conviction, Burgess worked as an airline sales manager and later owned a travel agency But, according to the Australian press, he became depressed after he lost his job. He then started drinking and using cocaine and started suffering from bullimia. Mr Burgess told the court that in the seven months before his arrest, he had become a regular cocaine user after trying the drug at a weak moment.

His wife Jennifer said at the time of his deportation he had been a good father. “He was always a good dad, unfortunately he lost the plot for a time,” she said.
