If you're a network administrator, you can prevent users on your network from accessing random blogs via the NextBlog feature in the Navbar. All you have to do is restrict access to this specific URL:

How I can control that who can view my blog

By default, your blog is completely public, and can be read by anyone on the internet. However, if you want to keep it private, you can do that, too. The setting for this is on the Settings | Permissions tab.

Under the Blog Readers heading, you‘ll probably see "Anybody" selected as the default. When you change this to "Only readers I choose," you’ll get an Add Readers button.

Click the Add Readers button and then enter the email address of a person to whom you want to grant access to your blog. To add multiple people, separate their addresses with commas.

For each address entered, the Google Account associated with that address will be given access to view your blog. If an address is not associated with an account, that person will be sent an invitation email with a link allowing them do one of three things:

Sign in to an existing account.
Create a new account.
View your blog as a guest (no account required).

In the first two cases, the reader will be given permission to view your blog whenever they are logged in to their Google Account. As a guest, they’ll be able to continue viewing your blog through the link in the invitation email, but this will expire after two weeks. After that, they’ll need a new invitation.

If you want to revoke someone's access to your blog, simply click the remove link next to his or her name in the Blog Readers list. You can also toggle back to the "Anybody" option any time you decide to make the blog completely public again.

Note: If you publish your blog via FTP to your own server, the Blog Readers option will not be available. This is because Blogger has no control over who can access web pages on your server. However, you can contact your hosting provider to find out about any support they may offer for restricting access to your site.

Blogger has several built-in measures for dealing with comment spam and other associated dastardly behavior.

Only five html tags are accepted:

and (for making text italicicized)
All links will automagically use the rel="nofollow" tag, so they'll receive no PageRank boost.
You can choose to receive notification by email when new comments have been posted on your blog. This way, you can monitor them for spam and delete them when necessary.
You can enable word verification for your comments. This will require an extra step in the commenting process, which will deter automated comment spamming systems.

OpenID is an open standard that allows users of OpenID-enabled services to log in to any OpenID-supported site with one set of login credentials. What does that mean for your blog? It's a way to authenticate user comments on your blog, without requiring your readers to have a Google Account. With OpenID, he can now comment on your blog using his OpenID credentials and identify himself as the owner of http://brady.livejournal.com, instead of commenting anonymously. How do I Enable OpenID Commenting on my Blog?

Simply go to your Settings | Comments tab and select "Registered Users" or "Anyone" for the "Who Can Comment" option. Don't forget to click "Save Settings" on the bottom of the page.

Note that allowing "Anyone" to comment on your blog will allow more than just OpenID users to comment.

How do I comment Using my OpenID identity?

Start off by going to the comment page of the post where you'd like to comment. Then, select your OpenID provider from the drop down menu next to the "Sign-in using" option. If your OpenID provider is not on the list, please choose the "Any ID" option.

Next, provide your OpenID login information. After you click "Publish Your Comment," you will be redirected to your OpenID provider to authenticate your ID. After authenticating with the provider, you will return to the comments page and your comment will automatically be posted. Your comment will appear appear with a OpenID icon to the left of the comment.

Note that your display name is the name sent to us by the OpenID provider. If no display name is given, we will try to derive it from your OpenID URL. This is the name that will be displayed as the author of the comment and will be linked to your OpenID URL

If you choose "yes" for this setting, then people leaving comments on your blog will be required to complete a word verification step, similar to the one presented when you create a blog:
What this does is to prevent automated systems from adding comments to your blog, since it takes a human being to read the word and pass this step. If you've ever received a comment that looked like an advertisement or a random link to an unrelated site, then you've encountered comment spam. A lot of this is done automatically by software which can't pass the word verification, so enabling this option is a good way to prevent many such unwanted comments.

Enable comment moderation by selecting 'Yes' on the Settings | Comments tab.
Enter an email address if you want to approve or reject comments via email (optional).
The ability to moderate comments as they are added to your blog can be very handy if you want to catch any comment spam before it reaches your page or if you'd like control over the kind of messages people can leave on your blog.
You can find the comment moderation setting on the Settings | Comments tab, along with all of the other comment settings. It's just a simple yes/no option, and looks like this:
Choosing "yes" drops down an email form. This lets you moderate comments via email without affecting your regular comment notification setting. It is optional, since you can always moderate comments through the Blogger interface.
So set the option to "yes," enter a notification address if desired, save the settings, and wait for your next comment. All incoming comments will now go to a special "Moderate Comments" page, which you can find under the Posting tab:
On this page, you will see a list of all the comments that have been created but have not yet been approved or rejected. (This list excludes any comments made by admin members of the blog.) By default, they will be sorted by the time they were created, but you can also group them by their respective posts, by clicking the "Post Name" sort option at the top.
Each line in the list displays the beginning of the comment, the author's name, and the time it was created. Clicking the triangle to the left will expand the row to show the full text of the comment, along with "Publish" and "Reject" links, which you can use to approve or disapprove the comment. You can also select multiple comments and publish or reject them all at once, by using the check boxes on the left hand side and the buttons at the top or bottom of the list.

The links provided will prompt you to log in to your Blogger account, if you aren't already logged in. They will only work for new comments, and will not let you change the state of a comment that has already been moderated.
Notes:

Comments that have already been published or rejected are removed from the moderation list. Rejected comments are deleted and cannot be recovered. Approved comments can be deleted in the usual way if you decide you no longer want them.
Only blog administrators will be able to moderate comments. Team members without admin privileges will not have access.

If someone has comments enabled on his or her blog, then you can usually find a "comments" link at the end of each post, like this:

In the upper left corner, there is an option to show or hide the original blog post that the comments relate to. The rest of the left-hand column contains any comments that have already been made. The profile photos of the comment authors may also display, depending on the blog's settings.

Anonymous: No identifying information is displayed. The comment is credited to "Anonymous" without a link.

Notes:

Blogger Comments require the use of certain template tags; If you have a template without these tags, Blogger attempts to automatically inject them into your template when you enable Comments, but there's a chance it won't work perfectly. You can check on this by comparing the default template tag code with the injected code in your template (it should be near the post byline).
All of our default templates already have the correct template tags for comments.
Comments will always be displayed chronologically.
The "Post a Comment" form is hosted at blogger.com, even for externally-publishing blogs.

Backlinks display other webpages that link to your posts.

To enable backlinks on your blog go to your Settings|Comments tab and select Show

Backlinks enable you to keep track of other pages on the web that link to your posts. For instance, suppose Alice writes a blog entry that Bob finds interesting. Bob then goes to his own blog and writes a post of his own about it, linking back to Alice's original post. Now Alice's post will automatically show that Bob has linked to it, and it will provide a short snippet of his text and a link to his post. What it all works out to is a way of expanding the comment feature such that related discussions on other sites can be included along with the regular comments on a post.

The backlinks setting can be found under the Settings | Comments tab, and consists of a single, simple option to turn it on or off:

Our default templates are already set up with the necessary code for backlinks. However, if you have a custom template, or one of our templates from before this feature was launched, you will need to add the code yourself. Instructions for that are here.

Once everything is set up, you'll see a new link marked "Links to this post" next to the comment link for each post:

If you click that link you'll be taken to the post page, where the backlinks are all listed beneath the comments. Clicking the triangles next to each link will display a snippet of text from the page linking to you, as well as some author and date information.

If you want to turn off backlinks for individual posts, you can do so. The process is the same as that for turning off comments. Just edit the post in question and change the options that appear below the posting form:

For the curious, this feature is based on the link: operator of Blog Search. So sites linking to your blog will need to be indexed by Blog Search and there may be a slight delay before the backlinks appear on your blog.

The comment notification email setting does not apply to backlinks, so you will not be notified of new links when they appear. This is because these links are looked up on-the-fly each time you view an individual post.

In lieu of comment notification, you can use Blog Search with a query such as link:your-blog-here.blogspot.com, and then subscribe to the results. That will have a similar effect.

How to delete comments on blogger

You can delete any comment that you create on anyone else's blog, as long as you signed in to your Google Account when you left the comment. You can also delete any comments (registered or anonymous) that are left on your own blog, or on another blog for which you have admin privileges.
To delete a comment, first make sure that you are logged in to the correct Blogger account (administrator of the blog or author of the comment). Then go to the blog and find the page where the comment is listed. Next to the comment, you should see a trash can icon, like this:
Click the trash can and you will see this confirmation page, which also lists the comment for review:
You can cancel here if you change your mind. Clicking the "Delete Comment" button will remove the text of the comment from your page, but leave the author's name and a message saying "this comment has been removed." If you check the "Remove Forever" option, then no trace of the comment will remain on your blog.
Notes:

If you can't see the trash can icon, then that is probably because of a caching issue with your browser. First double check that you are logged in to the correct Blogger account. Then clear your browser's cache and refresh the comment page a few times, until the icon appears. Alternatively, you could try deleting the comment from a different browser.
If you have a firewall or other security software (e.g. Norton AntiVirus) on your computer, then this could also be causing the icons to be hidden. Try temporarily disabling this software or modifying its settings to delete your comments.
Once a comment has been deleted, there is no way to recover it.
It is not possible to edit comments. If you want to edit your own comment, you can simply delete it and then re-enter it with the changes. (However, the timestamp will be modified to reflect the time of the new comment.)

How to use Labels in Blogger

When you're writing a post, you'll have a space at the bottom of the form marked "Labels for this post." Enter whatever labels you like, separating them with commas. You can also click the "show all" link to display a list of labels you've used previously. Then just click on the labels to add them.

When you publish your post, the labels will be listed with it. Clicking any of the labels will take you to a page containing only posts with that label.

Advanced Use

You can easily change the formatting used here by editing your blog's layout. You can also add a list of all your labels in the sidebar of your blog, sorted alphabetically or by frequency of use.
Labels are handy if you blog about a lot of different subjects, since readers can then choose to view all of your posts on, say, dancing at once. Or politics, or knitting, or whatever you happen to be writing about. If you have a team blog, you could also give each member their own label, so you could easily read all the posts by any one of them. Feel free to come up with other creative new uses as well!

Like most new technologies, the blogosphere (blogging world) is full of new words, terms, and slang used to describe blogs and the act of blogging. To get you started on knowing the lingo, here are some of the many blog-related terms you'll find written online today.

blog: Short for Web log, a blog is a Web page that serves as a publicly accessible personal journal for an individual. Typically updated daily, blogs often reflect the personality of the author.

blogger: A person who blogs.

blogging: The act of writing or updating your blog.

blogosphere: Meaning all blogs, it is an expression used to describe the 'world of blogs'.

blogroll: Found on blogs it is a list of links to other blogs and Web sites that the blog author commonly references or is affiliated with. Blogrolls help blog authors to establish and build upon a their blogger community.

blogsnob: (1) A slang term used to describe a blogger who doesn't respond to blog comments left by people outside his or her own circle of blogger friends.
(2) Written as BlogSnob, a free advertising exchange for blogs and personal sites.

b-blog: Short for business blog, a blog used by a business to promote itself.

klog: Short for knowledge blog, klog is a type of blog usually used as an internal / Intranet blog that is not accessible to the general public and that serves as a knowledge management system. The term klog is also being used to describe a blog that is technical content oriented.

moblog: Acronym used to combine the terms "mobile" and "Web log". Where a Web log (also called a blog) is a Web page that serves as a publicly accessible personal journal for an individual, a moblog is a blog which has been posted to the Internet from a mobile device such as a mobile phone or PDA.

tagging: Commonly used in blogs, site authors attach keyword descriptions (called tags) to identify images or text within their site as a categories or topic. Web pages and blogs with identical tags can then be linked together allowing users to search for similar or related content. If the tags are made public, online pages that act as a Web-based bookmark service are able to index them. tags can be created using words, acronyms or numbers. Tags are also called tagging, blog tagging, folksonomies (short for folks and taxonomy), or social bookmarking.

Blog and Ping: An online marketing term applied to a system that utilizes blogs and pings (short for pingback) to deliver content and /or sites for indexing in search engines with the ultimate aim of profit. Also called blog ping.

vlog: Short for video blog, it is the term used to describe a blog that includes or consists of video clips. Typically updated daily (or with regular frequency) vlogs often reflect the personality or cause of the author. Also called vog.

The Origin

The origins of blogging go further back than the Internet to the days of personal diaries, chronicles and other written forms of personal musings. Today, a blog is considered to be a Web page that serves as a publicly accessible personal journal for an individual or company. Blogs are typically written in chronological order and displayed in reverse chronological order to the reader. Online media, such as discussion forums and e-mail lists are also considered to be predecessors to the blog.

The word blog itself is a play on the words Weblog, as most blogs will be displayed in a journal or log entry format, where most are updated daily or more frequently than most Web sites would be. Blogs often reflect the personality of the author or the company employees they represent. To this end the most accurate and fitting evolution of today's blog comes from online diaries where the diarist would keep an online journal of themselves.

Other popular forms of blogging in business have included updates published by using the finger protocol. This was a widely popular delivery method for online journals in the mid 1990's — made popular by 3D game developers, such as id Software and 3DRealms, who used the finger protocol to provide news and interesting details about in-development games to their fans.

The Origins of the Word Blog
The Blog Herald cites the origins of the term weblog to G. Raikundalia & M. Rees, two lecturers from Bond University on the Gold Coast. The term was first used in a paper titled "Exploiting the World-Wide Web for Electronic Meeting Document Analysis and Management." Popular use of the term Weblog as we know it today is from Jorn Barger of the Weblog Robot Wisdom (robotwisdom.com) in December 1997. Barger coined the term weblog meaning logging the Web. In 1999 programmer Peter Merholz shortened the term weblog to blog.
