<p>Well, IMHO there's a strict connection between aerobics and the way your muscles look. I'll try and explain why in this article. It's no secret that if you place all your efforts in running, swimming, tennis, basketball or any other cardio induced workout your body will get slimmer and look more fit. The real question is: "how do you increase your muscle mass while keeping a tight and fit physic?".</p>

<p>Muscles build up on proteins. So eating a lot of proteins is mandatory when you are trying to build up muscles. However, no matter how hard you workout at the gym, no matter how many reps you do, your body will store some of the proteins it needs as fat because it does not burn as much calories when performing anaerobic exercises as it does when performing aerobic exercises.</p>
<p>But, if you combine a lot of aerobic exercises in your routine, you will burn a lot of calories and your body will turn to proteins as a source of energy. The same proteins you need to build up your muscles, or worse the same proteins which are already in your muscles which will now be broken down and will deter your muscle's growth.</p>
<p>Note - Fat is the last source of energy the body turns to when looking for calories to burn. So after carbohydrates, your proteins are at risk.</p>
<p>So how can you gain muscle, while not looking fat, having great muscle tone and bulk up further? The answer is to keep a mediate cardio routine with an extensive anaerobic bodybuilding program. And yes, then cardio and aerobics actually can help in putting on extra muscle and gaining weight the right way. Why? because cardio workouts actually elevate your heart rate and increase blood flow. Your blood being the conduit of food and energy to your body simply performs better, allowing for required energy and proteins to reach their final destination faster and better.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><p>When the phrase "goal setting" comes up in almost any walk of life, most folks glaze over.</p>
<p>But goal setting is especially vital in bodybuilding and weight training. And understanding how to set goals properly is even more vital.</p>
<p>Here's why;</p>
<p><span id="more-530"></span></p>
<p>If you don't set any goals then you're not holding yourself accountable - so setting goals does add some pressure, but it will help you to keep disciplined and stay on track.</p>
<p>Having said that, if your goals are badly thought out or just plain unrealistic, you'll lose focus, get depressed and maybe even give up when you don't come anywhere near to achieving them.</p>
<p>So the first rule is to set goals that are realistic.</p>
<p>Here's a couple of ways of doing this;</p>
<p>First - if you want to gain muscle and build up your body - to do this you will almost certainly need to gain bodyweight.</p>
<p>So a sensible and achievable goal could be to gain say 1 pound of bodyweight each week. Imagine you're on a 10 week training cycle. This means your goal is to gain 10lbs of bodyweight in that cycle of 10 weeks.</p>
<p>Here's how you might do this;</p>
<p>Each week when you do your weight training, you'll be adding weight to the bar, so you're lifting heavier each week. Only add the weight in small, manageable amounts, so your body can adapt to the extra stress.</p>
<p>At the same time, add some food to your diet. First, work out your maintenance calorie intake - the amount of calories you take in where your weight stays the same. Use a calorie counter and do this for two weeks to get an accurate idea.</p>
<p>Now add 200 calories a day to that figure. Test after 2 weeks - if you've not gained, add another 200 calories. If you add too much food too fast you're body won't adjust to it.</p>
<p>You should eventually get to the stage where you start gaining weight - one pound of extra bodyweight a week is a realistic, achievable goal.</p>
<p>Second - you could aim to increase your personal best lifts by a certain amount in a set period of time - for example, say you want to add 10b to your best dead lift or squat in 12 weeks.</p>
<p>Start out 10lb below your last personal best weight. Week two, add five pounds to that. Week three add five pounds again, so you're at your old personal best level. Week four, add two pounds to that. From now on, try to add just one pound a week.</p>
<p>After 12 weeks you've added 10 lbs to one of your major lifts - this should add muscle to your body if you've kept your form tight and lifted correctly.</p>
<p>Adding 10 lbs to a major lift is a realistic and achievable goal. If you do this regularly throughout the year, you can totally transform your body.</p>
<p>Set sensible goals to build muscle, and you could build the body you've always wanted much quicker than you thought possible, without having to spend your hard earned cash on pointless, expensive bodybuilding supplements!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Interested in building a great upper body through two simple exercises? Well read on and you might be pleasantly surprised to find out how much gains you can make to your upper body in a relatively short time through just two simple exercises.</p>
<p>When I say simple, the exercises are relatively simplistic in their explanation, however in there physical undertaking there is a certain degree of difficulty involved.</p>
<p><span id="more-526"></span></p>
<p>Let me explain how I was introduced to them and the rapid muscle gains I made in a very short space of time approximately three months.</p>
<p>My introduction to building a great chest, back, shoulders and triceps came about more by co-incidence rather than by design. It just so happened that the school I was employed at as a part time caretaker had a jungle gym that one particular bloke used almost daily performing these two exercises.</p>
<p>Having watched this guy over a two week period perform these two exercises almost religiously, curiosity got the better of me so I went over and asked him what he was doing and why. This guy's name was Tom, he was about 42 although he looked 10 years younger, was of Iranian descent, about 5'6" stocky build with a great upper body, chest, arms, shoulders and back.</p>
<p>He went on to explain that he had developed his Arnold like upper body physique through just these two simple exercises without pushing weights, just using his own body weight as resistance. At the time I recognised one of the exercises, <strong>chin ups</strong> and the other was an almost vertical press up between two parallel bars, commonly known as <strong>dips</strong> so I was later told.</p>
<p>As I mentioned while they looked simple, they were in fact two of the most difficult exercises to perform and it was one of the reasons many gym enthusiasts' shied away from them. On the other hand those that persevered were able to make fairly rapid gains to their upper bodies in a very short time.</p>
<p>Having sized me up, not that there was much to size up, Tom remarked that I could do with a few extra kilo's of muscle to my upper body and proceeded to encourage me to give these exercises a try. Having just had a lessen on the merits of these two exercises and how they were to be performed I agreed without hesitation.</p>
<p>Thinking that this can't be to difficult, after all Tom was pumping out 20 sometimes 30 dips at a time followed by a set of 12-15 chin ups. Well so much for wishful thinking, I'm embarrassed to say I reached 6 dips before collapsing in a heap. Then trying to follow that up with a set of chin ups, I think I managed 2 and half before again collapsing in a heap.</p>
<p>I had a good excuse I thought, I hadn't done this before. Tom wasn't impressed and said something to the effect, you can do better than that you whimp. Well my curiosity satisfied I sheepishly made some excuse about having to go, but before I left he made me promise to come back the next day to give it another go.</p>
<p>Of course I did come back for more punishment and I'm glad I did, because Tom did reveal some of his secrets to his great upper body gains. One of the best tips he gave me was, do everything in sets. Small numbers at first and build up from there. For example, try and do one set of 5 dips first and then try and do another set of 5 until I could do 5 sets of 5.</p>
<p>Once I was comfortable doing that, increase the number to 8 reps. Do 5 sets of 8 reps, then try to do 5 sets of 10 reps and this applied to both dips and chins.</p>
<p>Try it, start with small numbers and you'll start to enjoy doing them. Try doing to much and you may become discouraged and give up. Before you know it, you too will have made rapid muscle gains to your upper body, with greater definition and strength to boot.</p>

<p>Muscle is build during rest and not on training. You need to give enough rest for your muscle to recover and grow to build them again. Exercise stresses the muscle which stimulates it to produce much thicker muscles. Giving your muscles time to rest will rapidly hasten the speed of recovery for your muscles and at the same time more time to get them build up.</p>
<p>When exercising, one must remember to do exercises the proper way. One must make sure that when exercising they have the right center of balance especially in weight lifting to avoid fractures or any other physical problems and also doing exercises the right way means to not to just concentrate on one part but to make sure that each part receives the same amount of exercise.</p>

<p>Formulate a routine. Don't do the same exercises every week. Plan a workout for the next week of your exercise. This is to make sure that your exercise is balanced. Balance cardio with strengthening exercises and plus it makes sure that you don't get bored about doing the same routine over and over again.</p>
<p>Plan a diet. Yes, sure you're exercising vigorously but having a balanced diet is a need to. It just doesn't mean that you'll need to lessen your intake of fat and carbs. This means that you'll need to have it balanced too. Adjust your protein intake according to the needs of your body. Eat foods high in protein. There are a lot of foods like this around so no need to worry. Reduce the carbs and fats accordingly. Eat healthy foods to strengthen not just your physical body but also your immune system. You can also try supplements to help you with developing your body.</p>
<p>They key on the truth about building muscle is through balance. Balance your workout, your diet, and most importantly your rest time. Stressing your muscles is the key component of building them up but make sure to give them a rest too. Remember that resting your muscles is just as important as stressing them.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you want to make a powerful first impression, either in your daily life or at the gym, you need to spend more time working on your shoulder muscles. The shoulders are important because they cap your (hopefully) well-developed arms, and frame your expansive chest. Broad shoulders carry connotations of power, dominance, and masculinity. This may come from the Greek God Atlas, who was always depicted as carrying the world on his expansive shoulders.</p>
<p><strong>Seated and Standing Shoulder Press</strong></p>
<p><span id="more-524"></span></p>
<p>This exercise surpasses all the others when it comes to building your deltoids. This is because it is one of the few exercises that afford enough leverage to lift large loads. When performed in a careful, controlled, manner, this press will offer you round, well-toned, impressive deltoid muscles.</p>
<p>There are several variations of the military press. One suggests that the best way to utilize the down movement is to lower the bar to the back of the neck. Another claims that the best way to utilize the down movement is to lower the bar to clavicle height at the front of the body. Both variations of the downward movement are advantageous in different ways. The advantage of lowering the bar to the back of the neck is that the shoulder muscles stretch deeper, meaning that the lateral and anterior deltoids get plentiful stimulation due to the positioning of the shoulder socket. The advantage of lowering the bar to the clavicle is that this position is actually safer for the shoulder socket. This position however, isolates the anterior deltoid whilst exercising the upper pectoral as a synergist.</p>
<p><strong>Lateral Dumbbell Raises</strong></p>
<p>Lateral Raises are often sadly under-utilized by more experienced bodybuilders. Such users tend to use them as a muscle-defining or shaping technique, rather than as a tool to develop added mass and strength in their shoulders.  The raises target the lateral and posterior deltoid muscles. As a lifting beginner, it might be hard to provide your muscles with enough weight resistance to feel like you are getting enough stimulation. Over time however and when the correct techniques utilized, you will begin to see sizeable gains in your deltoids.</p>
<p>There are several different ways to perform Lateral Dumbbell Raises, and your choice may depend on the amount of equipment you have available. A cable machine can be used or free weights. You have the flexibility to decide whether you want to sit or stand, and also whether to exercise both arms at one time, or spend time on each arm individually.</p>
<p>Whatever your choice might be, the movement is basically the same. You should securely hold your dumbbells at hip level. The inverted nature of your palms will ensure that the dumbbells are parallel. Extend your arms and raise them until your weights are level with your shoulder. At this point, they will be perpendicular to the ground. If you elevate the weight higher than your shoulder, you will put unnecessary strain on your shoulder socket.</p>
<p>You should never swing the weights. It is the careful, continuous, controlled movement, both to the shoulders and back to the hip that strains the muscle and gives you maximum gains. If you are having difficulty with your technique, use a mirror or ask someone to help you with this.</p>
<p><strong>Upright Rows</strong></p>
<p>The rows target the traps with the lateral and posterior deltoids. They are common exercises for both beginners and advanced lifters, and are often seen in the gym setting. Upright rows are easily performed and highly effective. The mixture of heavy loads and good posture make them a staple in many routines.</p>
<p>There are many different aids you can use to perform this shoulder exercise. The cable machine, and dumbbells are oftentimes used, but the barbells tend to better suit beginners, as they leave little room for poor technique. Use a secure overhand grip on the barbell, which should be resting at your waist. Holding the bar tight to your abdomen, lift the weight vertically, and finally rest it around chin height. Your eyes should be focusing straight forward at all times.<br /><strong><br />Heavy Barbell Shrugs</strong></p>
<p>Historically, many experienced bodybuilders have exercised the trap muscles as part of their back routine. It has long been argued, that for efficiency reasons, the traps should instead become part of the shoulder workout routine. Your aim is to develop expansive, angular trap muscles, which can be difficult to do because of their nature and position. Heavy loads are needed to utilize the shrugs to the maximum effect.</p>
<p>You will need an Olympic barbell and a standing barbell rack to perform this exercise. Grip the bar overhand with one hand, and underhand with the other. This is known as an alternate grip. Carefully rise to a straight standing position using a shrugging motion. Take care to strain your trapezius  muscles and not your back.</p>
<p>The shrugging movement can be achieved by rolling the shoulder in a rotating arc, or by simply shrugging vertically. You can try shrugging both ways and see which way you prefer – though it should be noted that cartilage problems can occur if the rotating method is not done in the correct way. This is because the weight of the barbell can overstrain the joint.</p>
<p>Earlier in the article, it was mentioned that the shoulders are a key part of the physique. The mentioned shoulder exercises and workouts will make an effective addition to any routine, but they do not by any means represent an exhaustive list.</p>
