Hey everyone! If you have not been keeping up with me on the various social media platforms that are available today, you would know that I have embraced the fact that the wolfin stage has gone a little too far. Into full afro growth. With that, I have started messing around with other all natural hair styles that can be obtained with the same products that I have in my wave arsenal. With my hair legnth, I could keep my hair in an afro or with the same effort it takes to brush my hair. I applied a hefty amount of Layrite Super Hold Pomade and lightly misted my hair with water and went in with a my hands in the same motion you would use a curl sponge.

Heat Waves: Waving in Dry, Hot climates

Whats going on everyone!?
Hopefully the summer time heat hasnt bogged you down just yet. Its just starting! Anyways I wantede to get into Waving in the summer time. Right now, a lot of us wavers young and old, are walking around with our durags on getting sweated out right now and thats ok. Its a part of the process. Living in Las Vegas, its always going to be a part of the process.
In the spring time I like to stock up on some plain jane durags because I know that I have to keep a clean one on hand all the time during the summer time. 109 degrees of dry heat with no shade will kill you if you dont keep yourself hydrated and your waves covered in a light colored durag during the day if you have to be out.
Dont worry you are going to wash it with your laundry or you can hand wash your durag as well to keep them fresh. With the price of durags being so affordable, I would recomend getting a few of them and keeping them on hand for hot summer days. If you keep your hair cut low, just keep your durag on until you have to take it off. Thats what I would recomend to you if you live in climates where you know that as soon as you take off your durag the sweat will frizz your hair out and all that work will look like a hot mess.
Keep a clean hand towel on you too. You will start to sweat through your durag and you want to pull that dirty moisture away from your scalp as quickly as possible. This along with brushing will keep your wave pattern nice and tight.

TSURAG: The Stringless Durag

If you are one to take your hairstyle seriously, then you, as a waver have gone through a slew of durags in your time. Waving requires 1 of 3 things, one of those things being the Durag. This one item, is the one thing that will lay your hair down and, help train your hair to stay that way. Along with brushing, the durag is the MOST important thing that you have when creating waves.

In the past few years the durag has been reinvented into what you see here in these pictures. A string less Durag that uses a unique front to back, back to front system to keep your hair laid down, and to prevent the lines in your head and in your hair. Im my experince in the past couple of years with the Tsu, I have thrown away all the durags that I have purchased in the past and have stuck with this one item. Personally I like wearing mine over my ears when I rock my Tsu, you can also wear it like a regular durag by not utilizing the back to front strap. Getting back into the 360 wave hairstyle is a challenge. Using the same old products gets a little mundane. You find out how your hair works with products and how it affects your growth and your pattern. Learning about new products has always been a journey when it comes to waves. Going from products such as Sport-n-Waves, WaveBuilder, and other products I have seen that most products are petroleum based, causing slow growth, clogged pores and a dirty scalp. With regular use of a good Shampoo and Conditioner all these products tend to stick and your hair is never really clean. You will see this in your brush when you goto clean it. It will look like clumps of dirt when you clean your brush and you will see that all that, continues to stick to your hair. Your hair will never really be clean and shiny like you want it to be. That being said I have been looking into using all natural products, ColdLabel being one of the product lines that is looking like a great candidate.

Doing research on the products you are going to use is a great way to see if you are going to be compatible with the product and if its going to fit with your lifestyle. Comparing products is what is going to make your wave journey a little easier to maintain in the long run.

Looking at produts like ColdLabel, as a reviewer I like that the company lists all the ingredients that they use in their products. Another thing that I like about the company in general is that the website is simple to use, readable and everything is explained on how to use and what the product promotes.

If you know anything about what you are going to put on your hair and scalp you appreciate that this company uses antimicrobial in their Premium Wolfin Pomade to help kill off and keep off bacteria on your scalp which can cause dry scalp, which wont help your hair when trying to keep the all natural wave hairstyle. Other ingredients such as soy, jojoba and safflower oils are great for deep conditioning. Raw Organic honey is used for adding stregnth and keeping the moisture in your hair. East African Castor oil supports strong and steady growth. Adding Shea Butter and Hemp seed oils make your hair soft which will help in stretching out that natural curl.

The 4 recommended products to have to start your 360 wave journey

Keeping your 360 wave hairstyle is hard work. When doing so you find that you have a lot of things that you need to keep around you during your brushing sessions to make your journey a little easier. Here are some of the things that I keep and I recommend that you should as well.

Brush: This is whats going to make your waves come out, The brush. This item will help you lay down and stretch your curly hair to a wave pattern. Brushing your hair is whats going to make waves first. Keeping about 3 of these in your arsenal is recommended. A soft brush, medium brush and hard brush. All 3 of these during different stages of your hair length will keep your waves in tact and create shine and keep your pattern as long as you are brushing with your growing

Pomades: This product will help keep your hair laid down so that your wave pattern will stay down on your scalp. You can find pomades in any beauty supply store, RiteAid, CVS, Walmart and online as well. These can come petroleum based or made with Shea Butter. I recommend using a pomade that is all natural. These tend not to clog the pores on your scalp and also keep your hair and scalp cleaner and your hair softer which tends to create better waves.

Moisturizers: A moisturizer will help soften your hair during your brushing session to ease your hair into the wave pattern. Using one of many moisturizers is HIGHLY recommended when brushing so that your hair stretches more and with the use of a pomade will lay your hair down a lot easier.

What is Wolfing?

Wolfing is the process of growing out your hair long enough to stretch out the natural curl, use a pomade to lay the curl down and also using a durag to train the curl to stay down.
That's it folks, the basics of wolfing.
Here is my schedule.
I let my hair grow out for months, like 4. 16 weeks of brushing and laying my hair down consistently. Every week I wash my hair 2 times. That's every 3.5 days. I condition my hair while washing and then use a leave in during the week. I do not apply pomade to my hair every day. That will make your hair feel nasty. You will also clog your pores preventing hair growth. My hair texture is more on the coarse side but, using a leave in conditioner makes the hair softer. After 16 weeks I chop all the hair off down to a 1.5 WTG or a 2 WTG. I do this because I have found how I want my hair to look all the time. I prefer a Dark Ceazer over a low fade.

Why 16 weeks? To properly train your hair you have to let it grow and adjust to being laid down after brushing in your durag or TsuRag. It doesn't happen overnight. Never will.

Carrot Oil Product Review and Use Update

Hey folks so I know its been a while since I have posted a new article and here is why. I have gone through hours and hours of brushing my hair and I have gone through too many products to name, mostly Wave Builder. I have been going through more products not in the Wave Builder line for the past couple years now. Ranging from Carrot Oil and Roller Coaster Waves, just to name a couple and, my hair seems to stay the same.

Right now I am using Carrot Oil(link above), a leave in conditioner that you can get from any Walmart, and Wave Builder's Coco and Shea butter pomade. My pattern has changed again. Nothing bad, just nothing too talk about. Its just natural hair evolution. Its been 4 weeks since I have cut my hair besides small trims for the past 8 and the only thing I have really changed is the way I compress my hair.
As you know I have been experimenting with head wraps, my tsurag and a durag. The head wrap works great but it leaves the crown and back a lil puffy. The tsurag if you wash it maintains its hold all around. I reccomend having both on hand. The durag is classic and always works to lay hair down. When I'm at a 1 to 1.5 cut, I use a Coldlvbel stocking cap and it works fine.

What's good wavers!? All is good in the best city in the world, Las Vegas, NV!!
I decided to do a retest of some of my WaveBuilder products that I haven't used in some while. As you all know, I have gone on a quest for natural products that get the job done when it comes to standing up to these extremely hot Las Vegas days. I decided to revisit WaveBuilder's Natural Wave Pomade.
For the Natural Wave pomade it does great for the price. Some say, you get what you pay for but, in WaveBuilder's case, you get more than you bargain for. Great hold for Vegas, I have found that this heat and the sweating out of hair won't really happen if you still have a durag on. Its not heavy if used right. I used a dime size dollop for the first 2 weeks every 3 days with water for moisture.
The texture is really gritty when you are getting it out of the small narrow plastic jar that it comes in. It reminds me of packed beach sand when scooping it out with your finger. When you spread it, it gets smoother like dry coco butter thick, if that makes a better analogy. I have found that if you apply to a dry head of hair and then spray a little water on, then brush, the pomade spreads a little bit better.
WaveBuilder Natural wave pomade doesn't have a "chemical" smell as some of the other products do from the WaveBuilder line. This smells like organic soap. No crazy smell just neutral to the nose. When your hair gets thicker there is another product that works in conjunction with Natural Wave pomade, Wave Puddin'

What You Will Learn During Your Wave Journey

Hey wavers, I was going to do a video blog but I decided that if you are a real waver you will sit down, stop what you are doing and read this. This is important. This is the moment when you realize that you have more to learn. Your waves seem perfect, they are flawless, they look really really good! Right? Well things will start to change, this is one thing that you will learn early. Your wave pattern WILL change. Subtle changes will occur in your wave training from how you hold your brush to how you lay in your sleep. You are going to have to deal with the change and train your hair all the time, it will perfect itself if you put the work in. You will also learn that there are a lot of wavers out there, they just dont all have youtube pages and they dont have blogs but they all have the same dedication to the lifestyle just like you!

You will also learn about Products. Products will fly in and out of your life and you will look and realize that you have probably spent THOUSANDS of dollars when you get your roots set in and have settled down and got your craft just right. Products ENHANCE waves, they DO NOT make waves. The products that you use are going to help soften your hair, stretch out the curl to a wave and then lay the stretched curl out and stay that way. These products are going to have to go through a trial and error testing. You will see this when you look in your closet 4 years later. I have products that I have used just through a 2 month wolfing session from a fresh hair cut and wash. I can tell you what products that I have used and gone through and my experience but remember this, ONLY YOU can try these products and get your own results.

Thats the great thing about this movement, this lifestyle, this wave motivation is, that you can give this to others. Teach young boys to become great MEN! Teach young ladies to become WOMEN all with our hair! I give this to you, because I have no children but this was taught to me by my father and now that im in my 30's I can teach this to someone. This is going to be a journey that you are going to learn from. This is more than a hairstyle, its a lifestyle. Its a classy, professional haircut. Its one to be taken seriously because if you can show how long it takes to get to the perfect point in your wave journey, then someone will listen.

Silk and Cotton hair wraps

So folks I have discovered a old and unused method by many male wavers that I have seen on youtube and other sites. The spandex or cotton wrap. You know, the ones that look like scarves. These wraps are cool. They don't leave lines in your head and they do the exact same thing as a durag. This is the spandex one that I have on in the photo is wrapped so that it forms a bun in the back. You can secure the bun by tucking the ends or by using hair tie / scrunchies around the bun. You will have to get used to it when you sleep but, its good when you are up and have to go out. Its still stylish and works just as good if not better at laying your hair down. It doesn't slip off and they don't tear easily around the ear / front of the hair area as well.
The spandex wrap will run about $2.50 and is worth the money. You can find these at your local beauty supply store.

Organics Africas Best Carrot Oil REVIEW

Hello fellow wavers! So this Vegas morning post is brought to you by Organics Carrot Oil from Africas Best. Great product to use if you want soft hair all day long. Filled with herbal extracts and Amino Acids this helps strengthen, Rebuild, and makes your hair softer with every use. I use just about a dime size and spread onto my hair following my wave pattern. I then use a med brush that has been heated, (do this by running the bristles under steaming hot water for a min or so and then shake all the water out) and brush in the carrot oil following my wave pattern. After that I either switch up to my Diane 8157 hard brush or keep brushing with the damp Med brush. When im done brushing I apply a durag to my head overnight. This is my night method. Just something new I have been trying instead of going to these new products, keep with the old. They work just as well as the new products, dont forget that yall. Spend money wisely. Use your time in your journey to learn and experiment with your hair. I just learned that with Carrot Oil, heat and moisture are great at activating this product to make it do what its supposed to do on in your hair.

New Wavers : Your Brush and DuRag are your Friends

This time its just a friendly reminder that your Brush and your Durag are the 2 items that are going to make your wave journey successful. Your brush is going to be the item that stretches out your curls to make them waves and your durag is going to be the item that trains those laid down curls to stay laid. If you remember to use those 2 items religiously then your wave journey will be the best! Remember that you get waves by brushing constantly, not with products. The products HELP you get waves, they do not MAKE waves.

Goto Target and get a women's beanie that's in the clearance isle and slide that on over your durag. Its like wearing a scull cap. Women's beanies have a snug fit and stay tight. If you don't want to wear a full on beanie. Get one of the ones from target and you will be set. Just something I found out by trial and error.

Products Don't Give You Waves

So this is for the folks that are new to the game and the first thing they ask is "what's the best product to use to get waves?" My answer : A brush.
That's why I am writing this lil blurb. The picture you see is what I have acquired through the years of my wave journey. Some things I use and some I don't. I haven't touched my Wavebuilder products in months. I have been using Indian hemp and water or just Olive Pomade and water. I just started adding pink oil moisturizer into the mix because it makes my hair softer and easier so I don't have to use a hard brush all the time but, it does make me have to wash my hair more. The main thing that you will notice is that you will have to brush your hair more than you will use products during your wave journey. Your brush will be more important to your journey than your girlfriend, wife, mom, dad, sister, pastor and so on. Just invest in a really good set of brushes first like a Crown Quality Products brush or a Diane. Then get a starter kit. A durag, a can of pomade or grease, and a hand mirror so that you can brush your hair right from all angles. Then get some dedication because this is going to take time.

Wear your durag often!
That's going to be a statement that you will live by in your journey into 360 waves. You have to remember that waves are trained curls. Brushing stretches out the curl and putting on a durag will train the curl to lay Down creating your wave pattern. As you get further along in your journey you will notice that you may not wear your durag as often as you did when you first started. Its OK. Your pattern should be permanent at that point but don't forget that you still have to wear it.

Going All Natural

Hey everyone! Its been a long time since I posted here and I wanted to let you know that I have reached a point in my wave journey that's making me go all natural. I'm no longer using pomades and other like products to maintain my waves. I am using only Indian Hemp and Water. I have noticed that my waves aren't going to change any time soon with how I brush my hair so, i have decided that using less products will be better for me. I still have hundreds of dollars worth of Wavebuilder© products in my stash but they are no longer being used. As long as i have my CQP brush, a durag and Indian hemp my hair will be fine. This leads me to the next part of this segment, a new method.

Indian Hemp and Water Method:
Its pretty simple really. I use a medium brush and dip the bristles in warm water, shake out a little of the water and brush my hair for a few minutes. Then i use a dime/ nickel sized amount of Indian Hemp and apply to my hair. I then brush using my CQP medium brush for a good 5 minutes, making sure that i brush my trouble spots first then the rest of my hair. After that apply durag either overnight or for a couple of hours, depending on where I'm going and what I'm doing.

Sorry yall, i been in the game for some years now, been making videos for a while and the technology that we have, allows you to ask the question on a search engine before you go into a forum and ask that question.
