Spanish Fiestas

Now that I am living here in Almeria Southern Spain, I get to see all the local fiestas.
My home here is only about 30mins from the mountains and 5 mins from the beach and with one of the warmest climates in Spain, this makes it a great place to live, a far cry from the days when I worked outside and it was dark about 4pm with endless rain.

Now that I have learnt How To Start An Online Business, it has opened up a new life for me.
We have a small village near here called Fiñana and it is a little village made up of old white washed houses and an old church, set on a hillside with the mountains of the sierra Nevada just behind.
Every January they have the fiesta "San Sebasian" when the whole village turns out to join in a procession through the small streets starting at the church and ending back at the church about 2 hours latter.
"2 hours seems a long time for a small village but there is a reason for this.

Every house along the main rout opens its doors to the villagers and they enter a few at a time to take a small drink, normally hot red wine a local fire water. There is always "Tapas" a small plate with a few snacks which vary from house to house.
The villagers and strangers alike, are made very welcome and It amazes me how trusting they all are as the house is completely open to all.

Once you have had you quick drink and a bite, you stroll on to the next which is normally a few doors away as to enter every single house would be impossible.
The time here is not important and for me now I know How To Work Online and now can Work From Home most days getting up early is a thing of the past.

On every street corner and in the crowds as they walk, are the village elders who let off large rockets which fire off into the night sky ending in a loud explosion.

Here I am going to show you how to make wind power turbine parts using simple materials that you can find either from the neighborhood hardware store or your local scrap yard.

What Propeller Blades

The common homemade wind turbine design uses PVC pipes for the propeller blade parts. Find a decent length of PVC pipe of about 8" to 12" in diameter and divide it perpendicularly into 4 equal parts. A 3 feet long PVC pipe is good enough to make a wind turbine with a 6 feet rotation diameter.

Best place to get: I found a piece of PVC pipe from my local scrap pile. It was a little slimy, but a quick scrub was all it took to make my propeller blade parts.

Need a Generator

You do not need to get any heavy duty generators for your homemade wind turbine. Get a decent enough DC motor that has a very low RPM rating. A low RPM rating requires lesser wind speeds to produce a nice voltage output.

Best place to get: Try searching for DC motor parts from the Internet. I went browsing through eBay to get the best bargain I could find. The result? A good enough DC motor with a 1150RPM rating for just $49.99!

And for the Batteries

Again, it is not necessary to get first hand parts for your wind turbine batteries. Be creative and try asking around the industrial estate if any of the factories have old forklift batteries that they can spare for you.

Best place to get: I got myself a brand new forklift battery from one kind factory owner who agreed to let it go for just $60 (when I would have spent more than $100 to buy from an outside vendor).

Put up a Tower

Conduit pipes can make good sturdy towers for your wind turbine to sit on. Connect a few lengths of conduit pipes with T-joint parts and it should do good enough.

In the United States, California has three large wind farms that are used to provide power during massive energy use periods in the summer.
