How to Unlock Idea Netsetter?

I have unlocked my Idea netsetter successfully and now I'm sharing it here how I did it.

Steps:

1. Find your Idea Netsetter IMEI number. (Don't know IMEI number, Read this post)

2. Get your unlock code and flash code. (Get it from here)

3. Download the Firmware software. (Get it from here)

4. Now plugin in your Idea Netsetter in your PC/laptop. It will load the default Idea netsetter software. Just close that software before continuing because if the software is running we cannot make the firmware update.

5. Now install the Firmware software after extratcing it. While installing you will be asked to provide a flash code, there provide the flash code you got from step 2.

6. Then open the default Idea netsetter software and a popup will appear asking to enter the unlock code. Provide the unlock code you obtained from step2 here.

7. Thats it! You have successfully unlocked your Idea Netsetter. Now you can use any sim with it! Just remember to change the APN and access points. (Here is a list of APN & access points)

This is the important firmware which you need to install for unlocking your Idea netsetter. The firmware install should done only after quitting the default Idea Netsetter Software or else the firmware cannot be installed properly.

How to find the IMEI number of Idea Netsetter

In order to find the IMEI number of your Idea netsetter you can use two methods:

Method 1 :
Just take the modem in your hand and see it’s backside, you can see that by sliding the back cap there. Simply slide it down and you can view the idea sim. The IMEI number of your modem will be there written clearly just look carefully.

Method 2 :
Plug in your Idea netsetter to your PC/laptop and open the software provided by Net setter itself. Thenin the software, click Tools options on the toolbar and then select the Diagnostics option from the submenu that comes up. You will get the IMEI number of your modem from there!

After unlocking the Idea Netsetter you will have to configure the APN and Access number for using other sim card in it. To configure it open your deafualt Idea netsetter software and there in the tabs you can see an option to input the APN deatails.

Speed of Idea Netstter!

Talking about the speed of idea nettsetter, its very bad in my location. the speed depends mainly upon the your location and your network (i.e whether GPRS or EDGE or 3G).

Of course using the Idea Netsetter you can browse internet faster than the usual Dial up connections. But it can't compete with the super fast broadband.

In general, the speed suggested by users, Idea Netsetter data card offers up to 247kbit/s with EDGE and 85.6 kbit/s with GPRS networks.

So its for a practical use Idea data card is offering fairly good speed.

Idea netsetter uses the Huawei E-1550 mainly and also some other varieties of Huawei datacards are used. It comes automatically simlocked to use with only Idea sim which is present in the netsetter and hence we cannot use other sims with it.
