How to watch US TV in Japan

Watch the NFL Superbowl Live Streaming for Free Abroad or Overseas

2013-01-11T05:46:00.000-08:00

First of all in my country we do get the Super Bowl live but there are a few problems. The biggest one I have is we only get the coverage from the Japanese cameras so the game isn't as exciting. Second, we don't get to watch all those amazing commercials that everyone laughs and raves about. Even in Canada we don't get all the best commercials so really only Americans living in America can watch the best feed.

Over the past year I've been really happy using a service that streams Live USA TV from Pennsylvania. You can get their free plan that gives you 5 channels for 45 days. Personally I liked their service so much I decided to get the PRO package that offers 30+ channels. So since they're offering a FREE TRIAL service of 45 days you can sign up today to watch the big game! Watch the video below to find out how you can stream USA TV now.

How To Watch The Olympics Live Streaming From NBC Overseas For FREE

2012-07-26T09:05:00.001-07:00

Are you trying to watch The 2012 Olympics from NBC live streaming overseas? Well I'm about to explain how you can stream it live on your home PC, iPad, iPhone, iPod, Android phone or any other smart phone device for FREE! This method kind of just dawned on me a few days ago and I'm going to explain how to do it in literally seconds.

First thing you need to do is head over a service called USTVNOW. They offer Live Streaming USA TV but is only available if you're NOT in America. It's basically a service for US citizens who want to watch all their favorite networks. Ok here's the loop hole that'll get you your Olympics for FREE. They offer a 1 Month Trial which is perfect because the Olympics are about 1 month anyways. Currently their offer extends to these networks ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC, PBS. The network that you'll need to watch most of the coverage will be NBC.

Next how do you get this to work on your device?

Just open up an internet browser and type in this url: http://www.ustvnow.com/mobile
Login - Add your username and password credentials. The next screen will have the networks available under your current free trial plan. The screen shot below is my current plan which of course includes NBC.

I would like to add currently I'm in love with this service and have their paid plan which offers these channels for just $19 a month.

Channels included in paid plans: ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC, PBS, My9, A&E, Animal Planet, Bravo, Cartoon Network, CNBC, CNN, Comedy Central, Discovery Channel, ESPN, Food Network, FX, Fox News, History, Lifetime, National Geographic, Nickelodeon, Spike, Syfy, TBS, TNT, USA

:::::TIP::::: If you have an iOS device you can use Airplay to stream it over to your Apple TV.

How To Watch The 2012 Summer Olympics Abroad

2012-07-24T06:56:00.000-07:00

Well it is that time again - The 2012 Oympics are about to begin. Now, depending where you are you might not be able to actually see your favorite country performing due to restrictions of your IP address. This is commonly called GEO BLOCKING, only viewers who reside in that country can actually watch the video streaming live. Don't worry though there is a simple solution to that and it's called a VPN. So lets get started on what you'll need to watch the games from your favorite location.

First of all there are two types of VPN services you'll need to know, OPEN and PPTP. Open VPN is basically used when you want to install software that works on your PC. Once you have your new software installed you just need to follow a few simple steps configuring your new VPN to the software. PPTP VPN's are excellent for iOS or Android devices. In a few simple steps you can easily configure your new VPN to any device with a flick of the switch. The best part too is it works great over your 3G or 4G network. So at this point you'll need to know how you're going to watch the Olympics from either your home PC or portable device.

In conclusion this will work fantastic if you are in need to watch TV Networks like BBC iPlayer, BBC 1, NBC, ABC, CBS and CBC live streams. To get your VPN please follow the link below to open up a whole new world of Olympic Fever! By the way go Canada, I'll be personally watching CBC from Japan with all my friends and family.

Using a Prepaid Visa Card for Hulu Plus outside of the US

2012-01-08T07:53:00.000-08:00

Getting Hulu Plus to work on a VPN is snap as it works flawlessly but using a non American visa card doesn't work. Trust me, I know because I've tried my Japanese visa card and American express with Hulu to no avail. So after doing a little search I was able to find a solution that has worked for almost 1 year now. Basically you'll need a prepaid card from Canada that can be easily bought from just about any pharmacy or grocery store. For more information please refer to this link as it has everything you'll need to understand the system. One word of caution though, I've tried to register the card online and got denied so I believe that method will not work. If you are in need of a prepaid visa card from Canada please send us an email so we can help you out. Overall we just want everyone to know this method works great with Hulu Plus on Xbox 360 and is sure to work on any platform that supports Hulu Plus.

Get a USA iTunes Account & Download Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora Radio Apps

2011-05-17T08:14:00.000-07:00

Last week I was trying to get the Netflix app but found out that you can only download it if you're based in America. Well you know me, I was not about to let that stop me from watching my Netflix. I started to do some searching and found a great FREE workaround that works flawlessly. Here is the link you'll need to create your USA iTunes account anywhere in the world. Remember to follow the directions as stated, my biggest tip is to make sure when you're in iTunes to download a free app and not a paid type. This method only works when you try to download free apps as a credit card is not required.

Using Your VPN to the Max

All right so I'll assume you've now got your fresh new USA iTunes account. Welcome to the club, next go install Netflix, Hulu Plus and Pandora apps. Go to your media device, iPhone, iPod or iPad and make sure you have configured your VPN USA server. Switch it on and begin to enjoy your entertainment via wi-fi or 3G. Access will only work with these apps when you have your VPN turned on.

In Conclusion - Final Thoughts

So far I've been able to listen to Pandora radio while driving on the highway for 2 hours with zero interruptions (3G connection). Netflix runs perfect on a wi-fi connection with superb quality via my iPhone 4. Hulu Plus is by far my favorite app because of the large amount of movies and TV shows that you get access to. Also if you're in need of a way to fund your iTunes account please go check out Jerry's iTunes US Gift Cards. This will allow you to charge your account without having to use a credit card thus giving you paid US apps. If you have any questions or comments please post below as I'll always do my best to help those in need.

How To Watch CBC Live Bundle Outside Of Canada on iPhone

2011-04-17T08:59:00.000-07:00

After much testing, CBC's live bundle worked flawlessly on my iPhone. I was able to watch today's hockey game and the quality was great. Hooking up the VPN was easy to accomplish and was set up in just 10 min or less. The new Vancouver VPN servers were lightening fast as I never once got any stop and go. So for all my hockey fans out there if you want to watch your favorite team play in this years NHL hockey playoffs this system is 100% working!

I actually pefered watching the game with the iPhone vs the computer because of two reasons. One the sound is great when you use headphones and second I like the portability factor. I was literally walking all over the house watching the game. Also with the ability to watch the game virtually anywhere I could head over to my local starbucks, jump on their free Wi-FI and sip my latte while rooting for my favorite team. Enjoy and remember to write or leave comments below.

Just one problem, the main TV broadcaster is CBC.ca and they region block anyone outside of Canada to watch the games live streaming online. So with a little ingenuity I'm now successfully able to watch all the games with my Canadian VPN. It's really simple to install as all you need is the VPN software and a quality Canadian IP/Server. I made a complete video on how to get this installed so anyone can enjoy this years NHL Hockey Playoffs playing on their home PC live.

Using a PLC with a VPN to stream to a Xbox 360 or WD TV Live

2011-03-15T09:04:00.000-07:00

About a year ago a friend of mine told me about using a PLC to stream internet broadband connection to a home TV. At that time I had never heard of this type of technology and was amazed how it could be accomplished. All you had to do was plug one of the PLC boxes into your wall's power socket and connect a LAN cable from you router to into the provided slot of the PLC. Then with the other PLC box you plug that into the power socket behind your TV. Get a 2m LAN cable and insert that into your WD TV, Xbox 360 or PS3. What that will do is use your home's electrical wiring to stream your internet broadband to your chosen media device. It's extremely easy to set up and works great if you don't get a great Wi-Fi connection in your house. Also not all wireless connections will get the speed you need because of walls and obstacles in your house. With PLC's you can add one to any socket in your house giving you endless solutions. Trust me I was about to install a 30m LAN cable in the roofing of my apartment before I heard of these things.

Why use a PLC when say your Xbox 360 has built in Wi-Fi?

Good question, let me explain my experience of using both systems. At first when I got my VPN router I was stoked to use the built in Wi-Fi connection via the Xbox. For a few days it was working great and wasn't getting much lag at all but many times it would drop or not connect properly. After 20min of trying to figure out the solution I decided to go back to using a PLC. I was amazed that Netflix was actually working better and was not getting the crappy quality I was seeing before. Normally they wouldn't stream some shows in HD but with the PLC all shows were now 100% in HD. The reason why I think this was happening was because with Wi-Fi you have more obstacles to overcome and the overall speed drops dramatically by the time it reaches my TV. With a PLC you have very little interference and the connection is pretty much right from the router.

If you are interested in getting a PLC there is must read website that has just about every maker available in Japan, here's a link to Kakaku.com. One tip I read was make sure you can get a refund in case it won't work in your home or apartment. In some instances PLC's will not function properly, it will depend on your home's wiring system. Also make sure to not plug your PLC into the power bar, always use a direct socket.

Finally here is a really good video I found that explains in more detail about how a PLC works and how easy installation can be.

A PLC maybe not be what you're looking for but I just wanted everyone to know that there is an option out there that does work great with a VPN, Xbox 360 and Netflix.

Using a Pre-Configured VPN Asus RT-N16 Router with Xbox 360

2011-02-21T08:09:00.000-08:00

Well I thought I would give you guys an update as to how my new VPN router is going. In one word it's simply AWESOME! First of all when the delivery from Sabai Technology came I was a little worried that it could be either too difficult for my dumb ass to figure out or it would just not work as planned. I started to set up all the wires and install the configuration settings from the instructions provided by Sabai. With in about 15 min I was up and running and could surf the net on my US IP with out a hitch. The set up was very easy to do and I truly believe anyone who has moderate computer skills could have this all set up with no problems.

Next was seeing how my Xbox 360 Live account would work and if I could access Netflix and ESPN through the main video section. I have to admit my fingers were crossed because there hasn't been much information on forums if this method works on Xbox as of February 2011. Navigated to Netflix and was very happy to no longer see the "We're unable to connect you to Netflix. Please try again later." message anymore. Now it said please copy these 6 digits and paste them into your Netflix account to active your console....YES!!! After entering the code and hitting enter things worked and now I can use Netflix and their Instant Que to instantly watch movies and TV shows. The only thing that I can't get are their DVD's that are sent in the mail but that's ok because there's enough content to keep my happy! Rumor has it too that Netflix actually wants to become 100% streaming and retire sending DVD's through the mail. For just $7.99 a month it's totally worth it and saves me from downloading all the time.

Next was trying to connect ESPN 3 to the Xbox360. This activation didn't go as well but get this, I can get regular ESPN but not ESPN3. It seems ESPN3 has certain broadband providers that they will only allow access for. But I'll take regular ESPN because the interface looks just amazing with Sports desk along with all the shows that comes with them.

One other feature that is unique to Xbox 360 is the ability to control your videos through either your Kinect or hand gestures. So for instance if you want to pause, fast forward or rewind your video's it's very easy to do so. Here is an example of how it looked with my VPN and ESPN.

So overall my new VPN router is doing exactly what I thought it would do with no problems to report. Of course speed is not blazing fast compared to my Japanese LAN. Usually I'm accustomed to super high speeds but really when you're able to stream Netflix and ESPN into your home the family is certainly happy.

If you would like more information about getting your Pre-Configured VPN router then use this link below to find out more.

My VPN Router is in the Mail - Asus RT-N16 Router

2011-02-11T07:18:00.000-08:00

I'm Excited, my new VPN router is in the mail and is due to arrive in Japan any day now. I did my homework and trust it'll be just what I need for all my entertainment needs. The main reason why I have decided to purchase a VPN router was because last January I bought a Xbox 360 Kinect. There is a feature on the main video section for Netflix that allows you to Activate streaming DVD's but only if you use the 6 digit pin code. Your computers IP has to match the same one that is on your Xbox. The only way you can get around this is to basically have a pre configured VPN router that goes directly to your chosen VPN server. The great feature about this is you'll get the option to select Wi-Fi or Lan making connecting much more pain less. So guys if you have a PS3, Wii, WD TV LIVE/PLUS or Xbox 360 this is a must if you truly want to cloak your box to watch anything on the net!

The router that I have purchased is the Asus RT-N16 StrongVPN Client Router - N, here are some facts/stats.

We all know that StrongVPN is the best when it comes to incredible VPN service and now you want to bring it to your network. We've done the install and setup of the router including customized OS (PPTP-Asus, OpenVPN-dd-wrt), DNS, Firewall, and other specialized settings. It's ready for your account info and you've got a routed connection to the incredible StrongVPN service. We have worked with a lot of routers in our years but this one is crazy fast and has HUGE memory. It has 32 MB of flash and 128 MB of ram. That's 8 times the amount of a WRT54GL! It has the same 480 mhz processor as our E3000 model, which is 2x faster than the WRT54GL. In fact, it's even 40% faster than our own E2000 model! In our testing, this router gave almost 3x throughput of the StrongVPN traffic compared to a modified WRT54GL. This router will:

Connect to the StrongVPN network, creating a VPN tunnel connection to any of 63 servers in 10 countries around the world.
Serve that StrongVPN connection to your other networked devices.
Broadcast your wireless network through Wireless N at speeds up to 300 mbps.
Serves the tunnel locally to its 4 Gigabit LAN ports
Process the VPN traffic incredibly fast.
Create the easiest connection for multiple computers.
White, sleek design looks great.

Basically this will kick the crap out of my Buffalo router from 2 years ago that just gets 210 mbps that can only be configured on a Japanese IP. As soon as the new router comes and I get familiar on how it works I'll make a video showing it working on my Xbox 360 with possible tips or suggestions.
