It is on the first Wednesday of March this year! And only 2 months away! It is our way to help kick off the landscaping season with our biggest sale day of the year. Each of the locations will be having some great sales on not only the essentials for your equipment from parts, blades, and oils, but sales on select power equipment machines, hardware lawn tools, and yard chemicals too. There is a bit of saving happening for everyone. We’ll also have the our annual Gear Up Day T-shirts being handed out and a little bit of food while you’re visiting us. The new year means new projects. Not only with our list of things to-do at home, but around our stores too. Three of our locations had a few projects lined up at the end of the year and leading into the start of 2024. Oakwood recently got a new paint look around the outside of their building. The fresh paint really helps that Howard Brothers sign pop! The newest Dallas location has been undergoing a bit of change since joining the family last year. The parts department has the next project incoming. They are getting ready for some new shelving and part drawers over there. Which will certainly make finding the parts for you smoother when you come in a shop. Lastly, our Duluth location has been expanding their showroom. If you’ve seen some of our Instagram posts, we’ve taken down some walls and put in some more flooring and windows. All of it leading to a larger showroom that allows us to bring more equipment options in for you.

There is a kid at heart in all of us. And just because we’ve grown up doesn’t mean we can’t indulge in a bit of fun as an adult. STIHL’s battery powered product line not only brings out the fun while working, but we can include our kids in the work-play too!

There are so many benefits to swapping and using battery powered tools. There are zero exhaust emissions since you are not putting any fuel into the machines. That in turn saves you some money at the pump. Especially with gas prices being on the higher side of the dollar. And did we mention how quiet and lightweight these tools are? STIHL’s battery powered tools don’t have the loud engines running them or the extra weight of gas pulling them down. There is the occasional stop to change a blade, refill the trimmer line, or sharpen your chain, but that is some seriously low maintenance. You just need to snap in the battery and off you go!

While you are working out in the yard with your battery powered tools this up coming spring, why not let your kids join in the activities too! It is a great opportunity to show and teach your little helpers how to work in the yard. STIHL has a battery toy line for the kids modeled after some of your own yard equipment. There are three toys that are fashioned after the STIHL battery powered tools: Trimmer, Chainsaw, and the Handheld Blower.

While your outside trimming the lawn, your youngster can be helping you out with their own trimmer. It has its own rechargeable LI-ion battery and LED indication meter. These are all modeled after the FSA battery-powered trimmer. There is a loop handle that can be adjusted to three different tilting positions allowing a more comfortable grip. But don’t worry about them getting hurt with this trimmer. The trimmer’s “cutter blades” are an orange LED lighting bar that lights up while in operation. All the looks and sounds of the real thing, just without the fear of getting hurt while playing!

Handheld blowers are some of the more fun things to play around with for us as adults in my opinion. You get to see the stuff you cut fly off into the yard or if you’re blowing leaves off your driveway, it makes that clean up 5x faster. The toy blower can allow the kiddos to help you move that debris out of the way. It looks just like the BGA battery-powered handheld blower. This has a rechargeable Li-ion battery with a LED indication meter. There is a start-stop switch and a safety switch just like the real thing. This toy creates a playful amount of wind that simulates the handheld blower wonderfully!

There is always something being chopped down with chainsaws. Even though they can’t work right next to you with this toy, you can set up the children next to their own “cutting station” with a toy chainsaw. These chainsaws are modeled after the new MS 500i chainsaw and operated by 3AA batteries. Don’t worry about the chain being sharp! Each toy chainsaw features a rubber chain that turns on the bar like a normal chain would, but there is nothing dangerous about their chain. There is a starting cord and trigger which all create sounds that mimic the authentic chainsaw while it is running. They can help you chop up the wood with their own chainsaw! Only, you might need to finish the last of the cuts once they “work thru” their own blocks.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. A horrible illness that strikes our precious treasures each and every day and there is no current cure. These kids are amazing, brave, and so so incredibly strong as they are fighting. There are the best individuals in the world working on a cure for them and the different cancers the children are facing. Let us also not forget the dedicated health professionals that are working around the clock to care for their young patients and families. But even with all these people fighting for the best outcomes possible, there are always losses when it comes to cancer. September’s Awareness month provides us with a chance to shine a light on the cause bringing it to the forefront of our minds. 

Howard Brothers is participating in the month-long donations drive for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month at all our locations. For the last 6 years we’ve paired up with CURE, the non-profit organization that has led the way in supporting and helping both the families affected and the scientists researching to find a cure for pediatric cancers. If you want to find out more about CURE, you can head over to their website: curechildhoodcancer.org. Last year, we were able to raise $7,500 for this amazing cause! And we have our sights on passing that with all your help this year.

So one day, families don’t have to face the pain and hardship this illness causes. So one day, we can see only happy, laughing children running around outside or even at home playing video games. So one day, we can proudly declare childhood cancers curable!

We are happy to sell custom-made dog houses by Clark’s woodwork. These are not mass produced. They are made one at a time by Barry Clark himself. One simple look at them and you will see the craftsmanship that is in every house.

Whether you have a miniature size puppy or a Great Dane, we have a dog house that is perfect for your pet.

The dog houses range in size from the XX Small which is 18″ wide by 24″ deep to the XX Large which is 32″ wide by 40″ deep. The wood used is exterior grade siding and pressure treated lumber. They have 3/4″ Advanex flooring which has a 50 year manufacturers warranty. The roof is constructed with 20 year life warrantied shingles. All fasteners are coated galvanized so that they will not rust.

These doghouses are a great example of the quality of products we sell. We want our customers to be totally satisfied with their purchase.
