This will be a full three-day meeting, so the format will be a little different from what we have provided in the past. As always, the meeting will offer races for all of our historic vehicles as well as speed events for vehicles manufactured up to the 2010s and invited cars deemed compatible with those groups. 

For 2026, we look forward to celebrating 60 years since Bob Holden won the 1966 Bathurst 500 co-driving with Rauno Aaltonen, with our Mini Spectacular to include feature events and displays by Mini car clubs.

We are also honoured to host a round of the 2026 Formula Ford 1600 Nationals, look forward to Group S’ iconic endurance race and are pleased to welcome Australian Super Tin Tops for the first time to contest the final round of their 2026 championship.

On Saturday evening we will host dinner at the Alpha Hotel (across the road behind the main grandstand) at a cost of $45. This will feature Minis and the legends who raced them in the day.  So, bring your friends and come along for a nostalgia-filled evening.

The meeting will begin on Friday morning with at least two sessions of optional practice. The practice portion will cost $150.

Qualifying will be held on Friday afternoon, allowing Saturday and Sunday to be fully dedicated to racing. All competitors will be provided at least two races on each day, and plenty of track time. The cost is $670, which we believe is exceptional value for money considering the track time provided.

If you are unable, or choose not to attend qualifying on Friday afternoon, you may be able to start at the rear of the grid for your first race on Saturday morning, subject to the approval of the Clerk of Course and the Stewards. However, it is much preferred if you take a day’s leave from work so that you can attend on Friday.

As always, garages and carports will be allocated in order of receipt of entries, so first in will be best accommodated. Please place your entries promptly to ensure your desired lodgings.

Fresh off the back of a wonderful Spring Festival, the biggest race meeting hosted by One Raceway since its return nearly two years ago, we’re looking forward to sending off the year with an even bigger Summer Festival. See you at Sydney Motorsport Park, November 27 – 30.

We made the road trip down to Goulburn over the weekend of September 25-27, to hold what would be the biggest race meeting the circuit has seen yet. Let’s catch up on the action and enjoy the photos from the weekend.

While we held the meeting squarely in spring, Goulburn being Goulburn we had a day of summer on Saturday followed by winter on Sunday. Thankfully, while the sun on Saturday saw attendees seeking shelter in any strip of shade they could find, the air wasn’t that hot and conditions for motor racing were good. Sunday saw temperatures drop close to 20 degrees, with persistent drizzle throughout the day ensuring that competitors were kept on their toes.

A big ‘THANK YOU!’ to the many volunteers who persist in keeping us safe and our meetings running smoothly no matter what the elements throw at us, and allow us to run these meetings and enjoy our cars and the wonderful community that’s formed around them.

A big thanks as well to all of the HSRCA members, competitors, families, friends, support crews and spectators who came out to enjoy the racing and the good company in the pits and paddocks. These countryside meetings are always particularly relaxed and friendly and it’s a pleasure to see everyone making new friends, sharing stories, working on cars and relaxing throughout the weekend.

This weekend in particular we were thrilled to see tremendous support from interstate competitors. Thank you to everyone who journeyed to NSW from across the country to support the meeting!

For the Spring Festival, we were pleased to host a round of the 2026 Formula Vee Australia National Challenge, which brought an incredible 54 Vees to the circuit for some of the best racing of the weekend. Historic Sports Sedans Australia and the under three-litre Group C & A group also brought out wonderful grids, alongside all of our usual historic grids.

In the paddock, we were also pleased to host the MG Car Club of Canberra and the Falcon GT Club of Canberra, who also brought along some other related clubs. The Cyclekart Club of Australia brought a few of their cyclekarts out for the weekend, which were fun to see out on track for their lunchtime laps.

Thank you to all of the clubs and groups who take part, make our historic race meetings more interesting and support the community!

The Vees opened the meeting, with the 1,200 cc cars out first, Jason Cutts setting pole position in qualifying one and Stephen Butcher going fastest in session two. Matthew Pearce would get the better of both in race one, repeating the effort for race two and three before Jason Cutts scored victory in the final race, followed by Pearce and Bialek.

The 1,600 cc cars had a massive field, which would be split over three qualifying sessions. Curtis Porter led the first, Mallacai Windsor going fastest in the second and Daniel Reynolds quickest in the final session. Come racing, Daniel Reynolds held on to his qualifying speed for a win in race one, before Craig Sparke hit his stride to win the remainder of the three closely competed races.

Our 2026 Young Woman in Motorsport scholarship recipient Mackenzie Pollard enjoyed her second HSRCA event in the now-yellow club Formula Vee competing in the FVee National Challenge and is continuing to improve in her race craft, with a 15th outright 6th in the historic class over the weekend. Sticking with the open wheeled theme but going in the completely different direction, Q & R saw Malcolm Oastler off to a strong start, qualifying fastest and winning the first two races in his Ralt RT1, before Nigel Hook in the Kaditcha F282 led a depleted field just before lunch on Sunday.

L, M,O, P & Formula Ford saw an interesting and varied combined field compete, led by the Formula Ford of Tom Tweedie throughout. Travis Clark was quickest of the M & O drivers in the Rennmax BN-3, while in the older cars David Reid in the 1959 Faux Pas had a great weekend.

Looking to the sports cars, Group S brought out a strong field which saw an interesting battle between the Midgets of the Meyers and the 911s of Graham Gulson and Wayne Seabrook. Simon Meyer was quickest to get comfortable, setting pole ahead of Gulson and Seabrook. Gulson answered in the first race, however, with David Stone also having a good run in his MGB.

Race two saw Simon Meyer back at the front, Andrew Purvis stepping onto the podium with Damien Meyer. The two Meyers held on to the front in the tricky conditions on Sunday morning, Graham Gulson back on the podium in third. Gulson would finish the weekend strong, winning the final race ahead of the two Meyers.

With many drivers heading to South Australia for Tailem Bend this coming weekend, Group N was uncharacteristically quiet this weekend. Nevertheless, there were some great cars out and some good racing.

Robert James qualified quickest in his 1970 Capri, setting up a great tic tac toe with Mark Johnson, who would win the first race of the weekend. James was back at the front for race two before the handicap race on Sunday morning shuffled the order, Nathan Stevenson holding the lead ahead of Paul Battersby, and Chris Dubois in an Escort. For the final race of the weekend James would be back on top ahead of Johnson and Battersby.

Rick Allen & Meon Nehrybecki were neck and neck throughout the weekend

It was a great weekend for fans of tin top racing, with the annual under three-litre Group C & A competition bringing out some iconic cars and very competitive racing. Meon Nehrybecki and Rick Allen would have a great competition throughout the weekend, Nehrybecki narrowly outqualifying the Benson & Hedges BMW, Craig Foster in the Team Toyota Australia Corolla third. Come racing, however, Scott Robinson ran away with the first win ahead of Craig Foster and Jason Delaney.

Robinson and Foster repeated that result for race two, Rick Allen fighting his way back onto the podium before climbing the rest of the way in race three followed by Nehrybecki and Robinson. It was Nehrybecki’s time to shine in the final race of the weekend, snatching a narrow victory from Allen, Craig Foster back on the podium in third.

Historic Sports Sedans Australia showed tremendous support of the Spring Festival, integrating beautifully into our Supersprint grid and bringing a wonderful collection of their varied and entertaining Group U cars out to play. Max Carter went quickest off the back in the 1978 Torana, Simon Pfitzner improving in the first run of the weekend with a great lap in the mad Mercedes and Willie Van Wersch having a blinder in the final run of the weekend.

The weather conditions did no favours for our Regularity competitors at the Spring Festival, making it very difficult to predict times going into Sunday. Greg Redman topped the sheets in qualifying and maintained that consistency into the first run of the weekend. In run two Eli Solomon from Singapore was impressive, topping the sheets with only first and fourth gear available, John Culvenor also very close in the lovely Elan. The third run of the weekend saw Riley Morrin score a win, John Rose finishing the weekend strong.

We were pleased to welcome some new drivers and cars in the field, with Tess Yager in the #66 V8 Ford Escort enjoying her first drive on a race track in a group of similar race cars and Willie Van Wersch making his racing debut in the the #05 Chev Monza that he’s owned for around twelve months.

Blend Line TV once again came out to live stream and record the Spring Festival in its entirety. The archive of which is available on their website. This weekend we are proud to host a round of the 2026 Formula Vee National Challenge, with a full grid set to compete. We’ll also highlight the wonderful vintage cars of the Stan Jones trophy, which evoke a more elegant era with the race cars of yesteryear featuring some unique Australian specials.

Looking to the tin tops, Historic Sports Sedans Australia are set to unleash their extraordinary machinery, with big power, wide guards, vast wings and front air dams being the norm. You can read more about their grid here.

Under 3-litre Group C & A touring cars will bring legendary Australian touring cars – the real machines which ran during the ‘70s, ‘80s and early ‘90s in the hands of names like Brock, Richards and Johnson.

In the paddock, the MG Car Club Canberra and Canberra Ford GT Car Club will put on displays over the weekend.

Parking is available at the circuit, along with refreshments. Saturday’s looking hot, so remember to bring your hat and sunscreen, and some ear plugs.

Entry is free for all, kids and families are very welcome and the atmosphere at our meetings is always relaxed and friendly. We look forward to seeing you at One Raceway September 26 & 27.

Sports Sedans grew rapidly through the 1970s as competitors looked beyond the restrictions of production touring car racing of the time. The result was some extraordinary machinery, with big power, wide guards, vast wings and front air dams being the norm. 

The historic category was born in around 2007, started by Fred Sayers, a QLD Mini Sports Sedan competitor, before Mark Stockwell and Simon Pfitzner took it on and nurtured it into the series we know today. 

The cars are restored back to their race spec up to the end of 1985. The John McCormack Trophy is now contested across four rounds in four states, and we are proud to host this year’s NSW round at One Raceway. Let’s get to know a few of the cars

Chris Clearihan will bring out the K&A Engineering Alfa Romeo Alfetta Chevrolet. Tony Edmondson won the 1980 and 1981 Australian Sports Sedan Championships with the car before Clearihan bought it in 1988. He went on to set lap records at circuits including Oran Park, Amaroo Park and Calder. 

Simon Pfitzner will run the Thomson Fowler Chevrolet powered Mercedes. Built beginning 1978 and restored to 1988 specification, the car uses a twin turbo de-stoked 4.2 litre Chevrolet V8 and Hewland transaxle rear end. It was driven in period by John Bowe, Brad Jones and Bryan Thompson, amongst others, with Thomson taking it to GT Championship success in 1985 and 1986. 

Keith Carling’s Mazda RX7 was built by Barry Campbell in 1983 and 1984. Originally a GT car converted to a Sports Sedan with the demise of that series, it raced successfully through the second half of the decade, culminating in victory in the 1988 NSW Sports Sedan Championship. Carling bought the car back in 2019 and it has since received a full restoration. 

Max Carter will drive Charlie Milner’s remarkable HB Torana. Built in 1979 and 1980 around a spaceframe chassis, it began with a Holden six before trying a turbo Mazda rotary and, finally, squeezing a mid-mounted small block Chevy V8 into the chassis. 

This would eventually be built up into a 400 ci block, 350 crank, Brodix heads, quad 48 IDA down draught Weber carburettors and magneto ignition, mated to a Muncie four-speed gearbox with Hollinger gears and Datsun differential. In its original Holden-powered form it recorded ten first place finishes from its first eleven meetings. 

Tony Hubbard has a particularly strong connection to his LH Torana. He built the car in 1977 and raced it successfully until 1982, becoming Victorian state champion and three times Champion of Winton. Hubbard bought the car back as a wreck in 1988 and it has recently undergone a complete rebuild. 

Tony Ross is another driver with a long connection with his car, and will be back in his Chevrolet powered FX Holden at the Spring Festival. Ross bought the FX sans engine in about 1980, fitting the 350 Chev from his road car, bolting on IDA Webers and going motor racing. He won the Austin 7 Club’s highest points scorer for Sports Sedans over 3,500 cc racing on P plates that year. 

With the help of Bernie Pfitzner, who custom built many parts for the car, the FX was developed into a mid-engined Sports Sedan. The car would go on to win at Adelaide International Raceway and took the 1989 Champion of AIR title. After three decades away, Ross is once again driving the restored car.

Ian Baird’s Austin A30 was built by Barry Bray and first log booked in 1975, it runs a mechanically injected 2.0 litre Datsun engine and close ratio five speed gearbox. It ran supercharged for a few years, hence the bulge in the bonnet, but was returned to natural aspiration when that was found to be too unreliable. Sold in the early 1980s, the car was thought lost, only to be rediscovered as a barn find and restored about 8 years ago with Bray’s help. 

The Holden FX of Mark Abela is another car that disappeared from the scene for a few decades and which has been brought back to life with Historic Sports Sedans Australia. The car competed in the NSW scene during the 1970s, but went into an early retirement in 1977. It has been recently returned to the track, running a Holden 202 with triple Webers, and retains details including its original Bond half roll cage and Mawer race wheels. 

David Bailey’s Ford Capri GT was converted from a road car into a Sports Sedan, as many of the entry level cars were, by Derek Van Zelm in 1980. He raced it in the Victorian state series as well as the South Australia VS Victoria Challenge in 1983. Today it remains in largely the same configuration in which it was built. 

These cars and more will join a magic field at the 2026 HSRCA Spring Festival, featuring the Formula Vee National Challenge, under three-litre Group C & A touring cars and the Stan Jones for JKL, as well as races and speed events for all historic and invited cars.

We Have a Dry-Hire Arrangement With One Raceway

This means that the HSRCA must organize everything that happens over the weekend, which will stretch our small team so please be understanding. 

Please contact our usual HSRCA organisers re the event. Please do not contact One Raceway, we are running the event!

Trailer and Support Vehicle Parking

Larger transporters and trailers supporting cars in pit lane garages (only) can be parked behind the pit lane garages (there is direct concrete access to these garages).

Covered trailers can be parked at the back of the concrete pad / skid pan, nearest Braidwood Road.

All other trailers need to be parked at the top of the hill, near the cabins. Access is via the internal road running behind the circuit. 

Competitor Sign On – Friday

Competitors are encouraged to complete their documentation check and obtain their program on Friday. This will be at the “Navy Box” office, on the main internal access road, opposite the carports.

Fuel

There is no fuel available at the circuit. Please arrange your special fuels in Sydney, or otherwise before the event!

Private Practice on Friday September 25

If you have not already entered, you can enter on the day.  Entry fee is $275. 

Bump-In on Thursday Evening September 24

Bump in will be available from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursday evening. Typically, the gate will be locked from 6:30 pm. Please note these times as they are fixed, and the gates will then be closed.

Of course, unloading on Friday may be more convenient and you are welcome to do so with the consideration that practice will be running that day.

Erecting Tents in the Paddock Areas

Entrants are allowed to erect tents on the concrete pad behind the pit lane garages, as at SMSP, with no pegs of course. The grassed areas are not available for this event.    

Noise Restrictions and Enforcement

The history of noise issues at this site has been well documented. The circuit is still subject to the previous restrictions, and the current rules to ensure compliance and the continuity of use are published on the One Raceway website as follows:

• Vehicles in track activity must not exceed 95db measured at 30 metres
• Monitoring is constant and breaches of the limit are reported immediately to race control, who will black flag any car which infringes, this is the only warning
• The HSRCA will not refund entry fees for competitors who are affected by a noise exclusion

MyLaps Transponders (For Timing)

Timing will be by the Mylaps electronic system only and will be the official record of lap times and number of laps completed. Transponders will be available at the circuit at a cost of $35 through Eldee Timing: Contact Lisa Drayton – 0402 830 313 or lisa@eldeetiming.com.au for any queries.

Transponders are typically distributed at the office under the control tower.

We cannot use our Dorians at One Raceway.

Food and Drink Facilities

The previous cafeteria is not open and HSRCA will therefore engage a food truck, and coffee van onsite over the three days. We have selected vendors who know the site and provide a variety of foods, but of course you are always free to self-cater.

BBQ on Saturday night

We will provide a function with food and drinks on Saturday evening shortly after the last event to enable competitors and their friends to meet and thank the officials.  This will be in the area of the Briefing Room.
