I couldn’t have put it better myself. Gun control helps no one. The idea of imposing stricter gun control laws in the hope that it will help eliminate mass shooting tragedies is logically flawed. Chicago, a city with some of the most strict gun control laws already in place, had 516 murders last year!

and is already out pacing last years murder rate. The city of Chicago has already had 24 homicides this year, 20 of which were from gunshots!

So, how the hell is tougher gun control laws, like the one in place in Chicago, going to help curb gun violence? IT’S NOT! Criminals couldn’t give any less of a shit about a gun control law or assault weapons ban.

every shelf in these pictures is three rows deep - the stuff on the outside that we sorted is mostly brews we either really like or have a lot of bottles for, and it tends to get rotated every 3-6 months so other bottles get to see the light of day. the rules for the collection are as such:

To be eligible for the collection, the beer must have been drank either a) at Robot House HQ (aka my apartment), b) by a person currently living at Robot House (so myself or Charley), or c) by a credited member of the Robot House collective, preferably at a party or excursion in which many Robot House members are attending

No mass-produced American adjunct beers - crafts and imports only. Crafts by large companies (such as Blue Moon) or very large craft breweries (such as Sam Adams) are permitted, but they’re toeing the line a bit.

No duplicates. Every bottle in the collection is unique, and duplicates will be weeded out if they’re found.

And yes, those old-school cans on the top row of the second pictured shelf (including my personal favorite of the entire collection, the blank white BEER can) are legitimately part of the collection - my local bar (the Crescent Moon Ale House in Omaha, NE) bought a large collection of old beer cans last year, in which there were still several hundred which had beer left in them. So, they decided to sell tickets to a “vintage beer tasting” where we’d pretty much grab them, crack ‘em open, and have a good time. Strangely enough, I did not die when taking part in this adventure, and I managed to get several vintage cans added to our collection in a 100% legitimate fashion, which pleased me greatly.

So, I hear the president supposedly homebrews. I think that’s great, and I can respect him a little more now for sharing a passion that I also have, ( only if its a genuine passion, not some sleezy political move to try to gain the independents votes ). However, I would not vote for him anymore than I would trade a glass of Dogfish Heads 90-min IPA for a Budlight.
I am also surprised that microbreweries, many of which are independently owned small businesses, have not spoke out against his “You didn’t build that” speech. I know many say that he was talking about infrastructure. I believe that is a load of pisswater *ahem* I mean budlight.
This president has done nothing to help small businesses and his Obamacare plan will put further financial burden on those who own and work at our great microbreweries. That in turn could mean less growth in the craftbeer business. Or even more troublesome, possibly force some of the smaller younger microbreweries to close…I’m sorry, but that just crosses the damn line.

Beer 360 - Dogfish Head’s Raison D’Extra

Dogfish Head really knows how to push the barrier of extreme beer, or at the level of alcohol that they can brew a beer to. They actually have a couple of beers on the market that have 18% abv and above, which is definitely way up there. This is one of them, a stronger cousin to the Raison D’être. They call this one Raison D’Extra, and here is what I though of it.

This is another nice label that has that westen look to it. It has a nice color scheme and a good picture to go along with it. I wish more of there beers had this look to them. The beer pours a very cloudy brown-orange color with a thin layer of frothy off-white head. The head fades down very quickly leaving behind very little lace. The aroma is full of lots of sweet raisin and dark fruit, with some strong cinnamon and Belgian yeast spices, residual sugar, caramel, a bit of vanilla, and a decent amount of booze.

The beer starts off with lots of sweet rich raisins and other dark fruits with some cinnamon and other Belgian yeast spices and some caramel. Through the middle, more brown sugar sweetness comes through with some vanilla and some booze. The finish is a mix of full of sweet raisin, some Belgian yeast spices, vanilla, and a good amount of booze. It feel full bodied with mild carbonation. It feels thick and fairly smooth with a bit warming and sweet finish.

This is no doubt much more of a sipping beer, with the 18+% abv and huge sweet raisin flavor. That being said, it is really a wonderful beer. Very much like a Belgian Dark Strong Ale on serious steroids. Somehow, in all the boldness, there is some good balance and a remarkable amount of smoothness for how big it is.
