Who knows if there is anyone left reading out there, but nonetheless, I’m getting back on track with what I’d like to accomplish on this blog. And what’s that you ask? Well, I’d like to think of it as a conversation between me and some pals. It’s a lighter forum for me to share things that make me smile, and hopefully, you too!

I spend my days, and let’s be honest, also nights, running Hollywood Patch — a news and information website about the town that I live in. It’s a great gig and it can be fun, but it can also be pretty grim. Case in point: the Hollywood arsonist, that guy who decided to open fire at Sunset and Vine, and most recently, the body parts scattered in the Hollywood Hills. Yowza!

If you want to keep up with the day job be sure to like my  Facebook page. I fully intend to update it with my stories as well as blog happenings.

But for now, here’s to peace, love and hugs! (I’m not much of a hippie, but I just sent my aunt a birthday card with the aforementioned wordage.)

Ever since the royal wedding, it’s been an addiction of mine to keep up with what the Duchess of Cambridge is wearing. It’s refreshing to have a public figure with a sense of fashion that seems to effortlessly balance lady-like style with a modern twist. Designers have also noticed and are incorporating elements of this in their upcoming collections. It’s an interesting read in the New York Times.

Catherine is, in Mr. Burstell’s term, “the anti-Kardashian,” a bracing antithesis to the strident style and manner of many Hollywood celebrities, who “look so phony by comparison,” he said, “with their paid endorsements and brand-ambassador deals.” Diane Von Furstenberg, whose dresses the duchess has worn, said that she represents a craving for a proper alternative to the “housewives,” a reference to the popular television reality series.

Sometimes things can get a little too heavy in my chest. It’s easy to fall into a daily routine and sometimes you’ve just got to shake things up a bit. Don’t you ever get that feeling? Typically this is something I remedy with a bit of retail therapy, a trip to the nail salon or a lunch date with a friend. It’s easy to ignore the old adage that sometimes the best things in life are free in a city where everything is at your fingertips. Recently, I broke out the picnic blanket and found a nice shady spot under some old trees at a nearby park. Spent some time just looking up at the sky and browsing through some magazines. And what do you know… that heavy feeling I had been carrying around in my chest was gone. In case your curious, Bronson Canyon Park  happened to be my stop on this particular day. I also noticed a sign for yoga in the park. Plan on saving that experience for particularly hectic day.

It’s so simple and low maintenance. The boyfriend who was making fun of me for making a casserole changed his tune after the first bite. It’s the first time he’s ever asked to take leftovers to work. Recipe adapted from here.
