I've stumbled upon an excellent article on a Jewish site which talks about porn in an interesting way. The title of the article is "What's Wrong with Pornography?" by Tzvi Freeman. I'll like to repost it here.

Question:
Is pornography bad? If so could you please explain why it's bad and how it affects a person's life?

Answer:
Good question. Too often we just assume something is bad because everyone says it's bad, without thinking into the reasons.

Everyone knows that child pornography is bad because it's been demonstrated over and over that people who look at that stuff end up acting it out—and really destroy people's lives. That's beyond the unconscionably cruel exploitation of the children involved.

Other forms of pornography are harmful for a similarly oft-repeated reason: Pornography makes women into objects of desire rather than real people. We want to have relationships between person and person, not person-to-object.

But there's something much deeper than that in pornography, something that gets at the very core of being a man. A real man is someone who maintains control over himself. Animals can't do that—they just respond to their instincts. People are free in the sense that they can decide what is the right and proper thing to do.
But when someone is looking at pornography, he is actively undermining that inner strength of his, allowing himself to slip into being an animal. The eyes see, the hormones are triggered and the mind is washed away in a sea of biological tyranny. A grown human being becomes a slave of one tiny organ of his body. In his relationship with women, as well, he becomes enslaved in his passion for them—and a cinch for them to manipulate.

If you want to rise in life and become a whole and healthy human being, you need to maintain control of your mind. It's your mind, after all. And the first step in controlling your mind is to control your eyes. Keep them from staring at that which doesn't belong to you.

The world we live in today is a challenging place in many respects. There is a sense of foreboding for many people who are suffering, particularly those who have the knowledge that the challenges that need to be overcome are largely out of our hands. There is an abundance of conflict and upheaval in the world, and as economic tides are posed all the time to crash down on much of the world, the countries that are trying to swim back to the surface are having many citizens who are having a difficult time overcoming the adversity and staying afloat.

In western culture it has become a regular practice to try and make what ever cut possible to spending, getting rid of nearly any kind of extra, eliminating unneeded energy production, reusing items, and doing whatever possible to survive. However, this still is not enough for some. To try and make things work, a common practice right now is to have families work together, or extended families moving in with each other to help lessen the burden. What some soon find out however is that space is nearly worth its weight in gold.

To help regain as much area as possible many families have gone to utilizing bunk beds. For many people these are beds that are looked at as something for children, or a summer camp, but the truth is it has been used by adults for centuries. In fact, some experts believe that some of the first bunk beds were created by the ancient Egyptians.

Now you can find these amazing beds being as comfortable as just about any other kind of bed on the market. It is also possible to get them as big as queen sized, and this can have a wonderful impact on space when you are dealing with a cramped or confined space.

In addition to being immediately beneficial, bunk beds also can host other options as well. This can be a real help to anyone from a business owner and college student, to simply a child needing to do their homework. How Focus can Help You be a Better Blogger

One major problem that plagues this generation like never before is distractions. We’re now so used and involved with technologies that they’ve become a part of us, and while these has its own advantages I think disadvantages can be overwhelming for someone who doesn’t know what she is doing.

This rings even through for bloggers; it is our work to create; we have to research and curate content for our readers and we have to be the best at what we do, but the distractions we’re dealing with every day is not allowing us to achieve these goals.

Distractions is making a lot of bloggers get mediocre results; most bloggers are so involved with internet technology that they find it difficult to update their blogs and they have zero time to market themselves.

FOCUS Is the Key

In a situation like this what we need is focus. Unfortunately, it is easier said than done and a lot of us still struggle with it even after we think we’re above it. I’ve been working on ways to cure distractions and be my most productive self lately and I’ll be sharing a few tips on how to do the same below.

It’s All About Your Mindset

Something really important you should know when dealing with distractions as a blogger is that it is all about your mindset…and nothing else. Yes, there are tools that can help cut out the distractions, and there are exercises you can do to ensure you’re not being distracted but the reality is that you will end up achieving zero to no results without the right mindset.

Success is extremely difficult to achieve, especially online, due to the distractions we face and a lot of people won’t move forward unless they are able to train themselves into overcoming these distractions.

Personally, I think the first step you can take to help you overcome distractions is to have the right mindset; tell yourself this and make yourself believe it, that you don’t have a choice or any other avenue to succeed except your blogging and be determined to eliminate any obstacle that might stand in your way. Of course, one of these obstacles will be distractions but you have to fight it, and over time you will be able to make yourself believe you have no choice and start getting the results you want.

Tools to Help You Overcome Distractions and Focus More
Of course, having the right mindset is cool but you will hardly be able to win if everything around you is a distraction, which is why it is more important than ever to have some tools. Personally, I believe any blogger is only as good as her tools so I will be sharing some of my favorite tools when it comes to overcoming distractions here.

1. A Standing Table: I’m always at my best when standing when working and that for good reasons too; by standing I experience a new level of pain that ensures I’m only able to focus on the task at hand so I can get done with it asap, it also helps me focus and ensures I’m not a victim of the dangers that comes with sitting for prolonged hours.

2. A Second Computer: I’ve been used to doing most of my writing on my main computer for some time now until recently when I got a new computer. That new computer was the solution I needed to my distractions problem and I find myself being able to focus anytime I turn to it. Since the main purpose of the computer is to help you write you have to make sure the internet is not installed on it, instead, only install apps that aid your writing.

3. Distraction Free Software: Distraction free software like Writeroom for Mac or Darkroom for Windows can be very useful if you want to gain focus as a blogger. The main function of these tools is to block out your entire window and only leave you with one window; a plain one that takes your whole screen and leaves you with an option to write.

4. Music: This might not work for you but it’s worth giving it a try to see if you will be at your best under the influence of good music. Personally, when I find a place boring and I find it difficult to concentrate the solution I turn to is good music. I already have a playlist on my phone loaded with my favorite music and I turn it on whenever I want to write or do something productive. The result is that I feel motivated and pushed to do something and the result is more productivity and focus on my part.

Eve Teasing and Sexual Harassment

During the week I was listening to BBC radio and some woman gave an unfortunate account of sexual harassment she experienced first hand by a group of Indian teen boys at her visit to India. That was the first time I heard of the word Eve Teasing.

I'm first of all not surprised at all at the rise and rise of sexual immorality and perversion in general. I think that is what happens when the world forgets the importance of womanhood and family. This dysfunctional sexual appetite shown by these Indian teens are a direct reflection of what our culture has inherited from its love of pleasure and disdain for responsibility. This sexual molestation has different dimensions in different parts of Asia and the world. It is a big problem in not only India but Japan as well.

Definitions of terms:

Eve teasing is a phrase used for public sexual harassment or molestation of women by men, with use of the word "Eve" being a reference to the biblical Eve, the first woman. It is a sexual perversion that seems to be popular in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.

Chikan is a Japanese word that refers to the public molestation or the person who commits such an act. It is frequently used to refer to groping, often on crowded Japanese trains.

Frotteurism refers to a paraphilic interest in rubbing, usually one's pelvis or erect penis, against a non-consenting person for sexual gratification. It may involve touching any part of the body including the genital area. A person who practices frotteurism is known as a frotteur. The majority of frotteurs are male and the majority of victims are female, although female on male, female on female, and male on male frotteurs exist.

Immoral fashion among girls and women are catalyst to this. I also believe Japanese pornography and their hentai are contribution to this menace. Likewise, India and surrounding countries have their own share of sexual compromises that has resulted to this most shameful practice by some of their citizens.
