According to the entrepreneur who found fame after featuring in the BBNaija Lockdown edition, stated that life from two years ago was a rough path.

Third Mainland Bridge will be Closed this Friday & Saturday | See Alternative Routes

The Lagos State Government has announced that the Third Mainland Bridge will be closed from Friday midnight to Saturday midnight (26th-27th of February) to enable the evacuation of the equipment used for its reconstruction before finally allowing the Oworonshoki and Adeniji bound lanes to open fully to traffic.

The 24-hour closure of the bridge was revealed on Wednesday in a statement issued in Lagos by the Commissioner for Transportation, Frederic Oladeinde.

Motorists from Ogudu, Alapere and Gbagada have therefore been advised by the commissioner, who said the closure was needed following the “replacement of the 12 expansion joints and to demobilise the superstructure of the bridge”, to use alternative routes like Ikorodu Road, Jibowu and Yaba.

“While Iyana Oworoshoki-bound traffic from Lagos-Island, Iddo, Oyingbo, Adekunle and Yaba are enjoined to use Herbert Macaulay Way, Jibowu and Ikorodu road as alternative routes,” he said assuring that Traffic Management Personnel will be available to control issues concerning traffic while the bridge is closed.

According to Premium Times, the commissioner also lauded Lagosians for their cooperation during the lengthy reconstruction of the bridge, guaranteeing that it is now safe for all to use.

The unexpected yesterday as road users spotted a rather intelligent "mad" man preaching the gospel, while he made some shocking revelations about the afterlife experience.

The mad man preached against end time prophets, and cautioned his listener not to allow prophets of doom lead them to hell.

According to the intelligent mad man who spoke fine English; there is life, there is death and there is an afterlife experience which is judgment.

Talking about the afterlife experience, the mad man said when someone dies; they will have to face two Judges; one for God and one for the Devil.

When the mad man was done preaching, people who gathered to listen to him donated money and gave to him, but he rejected the money, advising that it should be given to beggars instead, adding that he doesn’t need the money.

Nigerians React to CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele’s "weird" Briefing on Cryptocurrency

Earlier this year, The Central Bank of Nigeria released a statement prohibiting financial institutions in Nigeria from dealing in cryptocurrencies or facilitating payments for cryptocurrency exchange.

The use of bitcoins and cryptocurrencies in Nigeria skyrocketed in 2020, especially during the #EndSARS protests when bank accounts of activists like the Feminist Coalition were blocked and other payment platforms for freelancers were banned.

This made the disbursement of funds difficult, therefore leading many youths to rely on the use of bitcoins and cryptocurrencies. At the time of the ban, the reason for the action was not made known and a lot of Nigerians did not hesitate to express their disapproval.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Godwin Emefiele has now appeared before the joint Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, ICT, Cybercrime and Capital Market to discuss cryptocurrencies and the reason for its ban.

Defining cryptocurrency, the CBN governor stated, “cryptocurrency which is the main thrust of our sitting this afternoon is generally regarded as an electronic or digital currency that is issued by largely unknown, unregulated elements using computer codes that are basically meant to encrypt or hide information about both the transactions and the operators. And in a sense, it is money that is created out of thin air.”

“Cryptocurrency is not legitimate money. Cryptocurrency has no place in our monetary system at this time and cryptocurrency transactions should not be carried out through the Nigerian banking system,” Emefiele added and also said that “It is used to describe the activities of players in an electronic dark world, where transactions are extremely opaque. They’re black. They’re not white, they’re not visible and they’re not transparent. These are people who deal in transactions that not only do not want a trail but indeed by its nature cannot be trailed.”

“These definitions alone are scary enough to create anxiety for any regulator or central bank or fed in any part of the world and that is the reason virtually all regulators in the world do not recognize it,” Emefiele told the committee.

While some people are more concerned that the CBN Governor had to read from a ‘script’ to explain cryptocurrency, others think that he “doesn’t fully understand the concept of money and how it has evolved over the years,” especially as he stated that cryptocurrency is money that is created out of thin air.

10 Facts About the Newly Appointed EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa

Abdulrasheed Bawa has been appointed the new chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) by the Senate.

The decision was made following a two-hour screening exercise in the plenary which was presided over by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan. The sittings saw Bawa answer various questions concerning “past experiences, his relationship with his predecessors as well as his plans for the new position he has been appointed for” from about 15 lawmakers.

According to Premium Times, Bawa denied the accusation that he sold properties that were seized during his tenure as head of EFCC’s Port Harcourt office during the screening, saying that he had a “good relationship with his predecessors”.

This comes a week after President Muhammadu Buhari in a statement, via his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Femi Adesina, nominated Abdulrasheed Bawa, the new Chairman of the EFCC and requested the Senate to confirm Bawa’s nomination as EFCC boss.

This appointment makes Bawa the youngest chairman of the EFCC as well as the first EFCC chairperson who was not previously a police officer.

The Personal Assistant on New Media to the president, Bashir Ahmad also, on Twitter described 40-year-old Bawa as “a trained EFCC investigator with vast experience in the investigation and prosecution of Advance Fee Fraud cases, official corruption, bank fraud, laundering & other economic crimes.”

Bawa who was formerly zonal head of the anti-graft agency will now replace Mohammed Umar who has been acting chairman of the EFCC since the suspension of Ibrahim Magu over corruption allegations in 2020.

According to Premium Times, here are 10 facts about the new chairman:

Abdulrasheed Bawa is a graduate from the Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics (Second Class Upper) in 2001.

He joined the EFCC as an Assistant Detective Superintendent (ADS) in 2004.

He holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy which he obtained from the same university in 2012.

According to his resume as seen by Premium Times, he spent about 16 years working with the EFCC as a detective and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of London.

He was part of the pioneer EFCC Cadet Officers, course one, 2005, as he rose through the ranks to become a Deputy Chief Detective Superindent (DCDS), a position he has been holding since 2016 up till the time of his nomination as the anti-graft agency’s substantive chairman.

He has vast investigation experience and has been part of the prosecution of advance fee fraud, official corruption, bank fraud, money laundering, and other economic and financial crimes related offences.

He headed the investigations of Crude Oil Swaps and OPA case from 2014 to2015, also leading to the recovery of assets.

As the head of the EFCC’s investigations of Diezani Allison-Madueke from 2015 till date, his team recovered millions of dollars worth of property in Nigeria, the U.K., U.S.A, and U.A.E including 92 of such assets in Nigeria.

He also supervised the investigations of Atlantic Energy Group-from 2014 to 2015 leading to the recovery of assets in Nigeria, the UK, USA, Switzerland, UAE and Canada.

He has also participated in several other periodic raids on “notorious (419) Cyber-cafés”, the sort of operations from which the EFCC records the lion share of its convictions.

Davido Perform “Gobe”, “Aye” & “Jowo” on NPR’s “Tiny Desk” Concert for Black History Month

NPR Music’s Tiny Desk series which celebrates Black History Month, had Davido and other Black artists deliver electrifying performance on Tiny Desk (home) concerts. It also featured playlists by Black artists spanning different genres and generations each week.

This celebration highlights the beautiful cornucopia of Black music and our special way of presenting it.

To open the set, he and his band created a sultry vibe with a unique rendition of “Gobe,” his smash 2013 single. As earlier announced, the singer declared the birth of his son some days ago who he named Hazaiah Olusegun “Champ” Wellington.

Reno Omokri share reasons why women must keep their pregnancy a secret

Former aid to Nigeria's ex-president and US-based Nigerian lawyer, Reno Omokri has counseled women on why they should keep their pregnancies secret till after childbirth.

According to him, it is easier to deal with a private tragedy than having to deal with a very public one.

“My wife recently had a beautiful baby. We did not post even one baby bump photo. Only my wife and I knew she was pregnant. When I say ONLY, I mean ONLY. The lockdown helped us keep it secret, but also, we were disciplined with our mouth.

“There is more likelihood of pressure when the public know you are expecting. And pressure can end your treasure, though not always. But, why take the chance?

Award-winning Nigerian singer, Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa alias Joeboy has revealed he has a ‘Sugar Mummy’ who treats him well.

The singer made this known in a recent interview with Beat FM while talking about his music career and love life.

He admitted having a lot of female friends around him, but noted he has no relationship with any girl at the moment.

However, the ‘Don’t call me back’ crooner revealed that he’s having an affair with older lady who he tagged his “sugar mummy”.

Speaking further during the interview, Joeboy revealed he dedicated a whole track to the said ‘Sugar Mummy’ in his recently released album. He also added that they are both happy together.

According to DSTV NG, starting on the first of March 2021, the highlights of the recently concluded show will be re-broadcasted for viewers to enjoy dicey moments from the show.

Sharing the announcement on their official page on Instagram, it wrote;

The award is held at the La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort in Ibeju-Lekki, Nigeria.

The internet has had lots of buzz after A young creative entrepreneur has sparked mixed reactions and concerns after transforming a 47-seater luxurious bus into a mobile restaurant.

Pictures of the restaurant named “Food In The Bus” went viral after netizens flared up with concerns about safety while others applauded the creativity that gave birth to the idea.

On the bus are moveable plastic chairs and a marble table on each side while the other end of the bus is where the cooking and serving are done.
