LIFTS 01 is going to take a place in the club 16. Korpuss, located in Riga in VEF factory teritory on October 17th. Personally I see that drumandbass scene in Latvia is lacking variety in drumandbass events and its getting more silent.. I haven't seen any noticable new releases from Latvian dnb producers and also DJ sets from Latvian DJs are more rare today..

So we decided to bring SEBA together with his amazing vocalist Robert Manos straight from the Sweden. Seba recently released his new album, which he is going to present at Lift.

This is my first visit to this country, I got my visa in 7 days and travelled here with Estonian-Air, which was a small airplane originally used for regional flights (Minsk is about 800 KMs from Tallinn). Airplane felt like a small bus with the wings :D

Here are all specifications:

The new MkII version of the classic scratch deck offers a couple of improvements over the original classic scratch deck. Vestax have fitted a new, lower profile platter, and a improved ASTS tone arm, for better record holding which also features a improved height adjustment system on the arm. On the top of the tonearm mount is a small spring balance that compensates for gravitational force acting against the tone arm. Thus, this system works to provide a constant amount of pressure regardless of tonearm height, or external vibrations. This type of balance helps create a better sound by controlling the pressure at which the needle traces the vinyl. This new deck also has a smaller footprint than the original model and a tighter pitch control.

Originally they are brought from Lithuania, I bought them from one Lithuanian DJ, who was using these turntables before.
The reason I am selling them is that I am promoting events my self, and I would like to use my own equipment for my events, and usually guest artists are requiring standard set of Technics MK5 turnatbles.. So I'm getting tired of renting Technics equipment additionally, if I could use my own.
AND I still believe that there are no better turntables than Vestax, so I am not too happy to sell them, but that will make my life easyer :D

For me this is one of the most exciting trips this summer, really looking foward to listen to Fabio, who has been in drumandbass already over 2 decades, and the most interesting part is that Fabio have been DJing all these years, and not really producing as most of the well known drumandbass artists. Basically a large amount of today's drumandbass scene in Latvia has grown-up on his BBC Radio 1 shows.

HYTKY (Organization For Friends Of Techno Culture Of Helsinki University) is holding a Drum 'n' Bass documentary festival at Uusi Ylioppilastalo (Mannerheimintie 5a)Helsinki, Finland on Friday, May 30 at 17:30-04:00. Festival will include five
interesting documentary films and a live-interview of two Finnish oldskool drum’n’bass heads, Dj Dizzy and Adder.

Holidays in May

As some might heard before, that for May's Lift the main guest was supposed to be ASC - boss of Covert Operations label. Unfortunately he postponed his EU tour to September, because of reasons not depending on him (in few words, there were unexpected issues with his american visa, so there is a need to deal with peparing travel documents for his EU tour for a longer time as planned before)

So I didn't feel urge to run and fill in the May's event with any other artist who would be able to come in so short time, but decided to take it easy and focus on June's event. Which I can promise will not be less exciting, I will keep the name for a little bit as a secret, but I can reveal, this artist is representing Reinforced records.. ;)

Lifted Sessions in Lithuania

This Friday - April 25, 2008 I will travel all the way to the capital of Lithuania - Vilnius. It will take for me about 9 hours in the bus, but luckily there are more comfortable buses available now, with free wifi and hot drinks 8)

The purpose of this trip is Lifted Point - drumandbass event in place called Mulen Ruzhas, address - V.M.Putino g. 5, Vilnius, LT.
Main guests of this event will be owners and producers of label Lifted, based in UK. Spor and Chris Renegade, they are going to bring B2B set with new neuro sounds. I just visited myspace of Spor and discovered that I really like his new Subtitles EP - myspace.com/spor
Looking forward to hear more of his new production.

Also I had a chance to hear Chris Renegade last year August in St.Petersburg which was absolutelly ass kicking set.

I guess I'm saying that about every guest we have had in LIFT session, but I have to repeat it once again, Martsman's performance was one of the greatest drumandbass sets I have heard ever. So great buildup of the mix and professionality of world level.

This Friday is a big day for local drumandbass scene, our guest in March is mister Martsman. I have posted previously a mix by ESB, where he have mixed together all the latest Martsman's tracks. This Friday - 08.02.2008 @ club CentralPoint, Sakala 23A, Tallinn we have a LIFT meeting! This time jungle/drumfunk special, with 2 guest DJs from Finland and Latvia. Both are pioneers of drumandbass for many years, so we can expect to hear quality dj sets.

I have my ticket to Viljandi tonight, place I have been visitng twice, but this will be first time when I am going to play records there. Also this is one of the last towns where I haven't been playing before, I have travelled pretty much all around Estonia with my record case.
As the promoter says about venue, that is one of the spookiest places in the town, some thearte house call Koit.
