The blind spot thing worked similarly when I had an object on the carpet of my floor. When the object was in my blind spot, my brain filled in the carpet as if the object really wasn't there.

I'm just extremely releived to hear it's a hoax. My son brought it to my attention and as I read it I said, a joke-no wait-a joke-well maybe! The reason being that I've seen bits of creationist "fact" that were every bit as ludicrous as anything in this ( i.e. a land bridge that for some reason ONLY MARSUPIAL mammals used to reach Australia after the great flood) . In the end it wasn't the degree of fundy wackiness that made me say "hoax" , merely the amount of it. And that says a lot about their dogma!

There was no actual beginning...there "never" was. the only way to trully understand the concept of infinity, is to accept that there always existed something...the word exist in itself suggests this...there was something and will always be something...even if, following the buddhist philosphy, that in billions of years we will all reach "perfection" and become pure "energy" and everything will be connected...then the universe is supposed to implode and begin all over again...this in itself will be an endless cycle...but there was no beginning...so guess what...everyone has ultimate freedom in the grand sceme of things...if there is a god...he probably laughs at "himself" when he tries to fathom how he came into creation...i think this is very beautiful...beyond good and bad, love and hate, life and death...there is everything and nothing at the same time...i personally love that !...everyone and everything will always continue to evolve...you know what life and infinity is???....a work of art !!! we are a painting that was painted by no one but we are able to paint anything we want !!!

The Japanese Generals did NOT want to surender, even after the second bomb was dropped. It took the Emperor of Japan to override his generals & anounce to his people that Japan was surendering. Talk to the American Vets, both those being shipped from Europe & those already in the Pacific for the planned invasion of Japan. Ask them how they felt when there was no invasion. Look into the fanatical defense on Iwo Jima, Okinawa, etc. The closer we got to the mainland, the harder it was, with high tolls on both sides, before those islands were secured. If we had to invade Japan because the bomb was not used, at the cost of a million American casualties, What would the reaction of the American people have been when they found out that the bombing was withheld, and the loss of all those lives was unnecesary? Pardon my poor spelling. Jim (80 year old).

Well this blog is scary, but true. It is saying we actually have no reason for existence. That we are just going to die anyway. It is saying our emotions are perks to our life that isn't there. It is saying when we die it is like we never were alive because we don't have our memory of life. Sad, but true. It is very confusing but if you think about it in different ways you will understand.

You're right on the cusp of it. The only burden of proof you have now is: How do you prove that the universe is discrete? How can you reduce the universe's dimensions assumed to be in the "Real" number field to the "Integer" field... or better: the "Rational Numbers"?
If someone can prove that just ONE dimension in the universe is countable, then we've got ourselves a dilema: Free Will cannot exist.

Some of us have figured it out. It's f'n scary, man.

IF - and this is a big IF, mind you - Apophis does actually hit us in 2036 it will not be the end of the world. it's not even going to kill off humanity. this will not be an extinction-causing asteroid. it will definitely be the worst natural disaster ever recorded in current mankind history, but it won't kill us all. better yet, with knowing about it and calculating it's movements, we can even prevent anyone from dying. but some of you nuts will just ignore this information because you're too blind by your own "faith", isn't that right?
