The show is still on! Even though some bulbs have burned, the show time has been decreased from 12am to 10pm and the new Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas has turned off its lights, the rest are still on! It’s still up until 13th March.

Catch it while it’s still on or you will need to wait for many months more.

Operation hours & lighting schedule
Feb 7th – 7pm – Opening Ceremony
Feb 8th to Feb 12th – temple open to public 8.30am to 5.30pm only
Feb 13th to Feb 15th – temple will be light up from 7pm to 7am
Feb 16th to Feb 28th – temple will be light up from 7pm to midnight
Feb 29th to March 13th – temple will be light up from 7pm to 10pm

Every year thousands of devotees turned up for the annual lighting ceremony at Kek Lok Si Temple in Air Itam.
Starting from Chinese New Year, Kek Lok Si Temple will be light up every night at 7pm until midnight to symbolize peace, luck and prosperity.

Approximately 230,000 light bulbs and 10,000 lanterns light up the temple every night for 33 days in conjunction with Chinese New Year. Making this 119 year old temple one of Asia’s most beautiful temple. The most oustanding scene is the Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas, it is over 35 metres in height and is reputed to be one of the largest pagodas in Malaysia. The glittering pagoda can be seen from from several kilometres away.

I went there twice, once before the the new pagoda turns off its lights and another time last Saturday. It is surely an exciting experience and most likely to go this weekend!

Enjoy my humble collection of photos.

This shot is taken back in January 2008 when during the days when I was studying in the capital city. Inspired by London Eye, Eye on Malaysia is built in conjunction of Visit Malaysia Year 2007. It has now been relocated to Melaka later on.

And before Google Maps updates its images of the long gone Ferris wheel, it’s better to keep a snapshot of Titiwangsa Lake where Eye on Malaysia is located.

The Eye on Malaysia was a 60 metre tall portable Ferris wheel installation at Titiwangsa Lake Gardens, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The purpose of having the Eye on Malaysia was inspired by the London Eye

The wheel comprises 42 gondolas (including 1 VIP gondola) and was unveiled in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007 on January 6, 2007 by Malaysian Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

The wheel allows visitors to experience a 360-degree panoramic view of Kuala Lumpur and over 20 kilometres of its surroundings including Kuala Lumpur Tower, Istana Budaya and Petronas Twin Towers, during a 12-minute ride.

It was relocated to Malacca on November 8, 2008.
