Is fashion world becoming more and more addicted to "leather" and "fur" ?
Every year, we are used to see a group protesting "fur users" in front of Mifur Fair area, but despite and on the contrary, this tendency is growing more and more (I could say unfortunately, even I'm in this sector)

Just a little reminder for my designer friends and leather addicts : Two very important trend fairs for leather are knocking our door on the following days! The first one is; Anteprima Milan, I really love being there, and they prepared a lovely introduction page as usual;

LANVIN - amusing video, but not more

In the fashion world, like there is in every sector, there are of course too many things to criticize, day by day, more and more, but I still -maybe stupidly- believe that everything grows with appreciation. So I try to see the most "appreciable" points in everyhting if this is the right word.

For the last few months, I should confess, I find the shopwindows of Lanvin, seriously adorable, especially if I could talk about the one in Monte Carlo. They prepare shopwindows that makes you stop suddenly even if you are hurrying with your most speedy steps, this little pause makes you smile, and change your mood at the rest of your walk. Not ultra-classic like Channel, not too much serious like Bvlgari! Hermés today is preparing seriously good concepts for their shopwindows, they stepped from being too serious to being attractive to today's people in the streets, who are more and more in need of smile. But still, we should accept that they are still a bit prudent. Lanvin, in this meaning, caught the good balance. Their collaboration with H&M was a success too, and I follow the company with big joy.

There are some companies I suddenly decided to put in my black list (sometimes I can be bad and criticising too it seems ) like Sonia Rykiel, who is more and more repeating itself and cannot succeed to come to today or staying too far from today's trends but not catching the same success like others who are not too much diving in general trends; like Marithe et Francois Girbaud. I search for a strong identity when I look with not the eye of a designer but mostly with the eye of a "client" when I'm makeing my regular research in shops, and should confess that Anne Fontaine is one another brand that I will never understand the point of its success and will ever question the dimension it brings to fashion world.

If we come back to Lanvin, here is a cute video for their FW 2011-2012 campaign.In my opinion, even I like it, I should confess the video's voice is not as strong as the concept of their shopwindows.

Yesterday was one of the days, I wasted so long hours on web -surfing surfing surfing! Because it was a crazy week, only and only running after deadline of projects. Till the time I really feel 100% confident in writing (and speaking of course) French, I'm afraid my love, my life partner, my chouchou will be feeling the mood of "running" too... :)
But in the end, it is really a nice feeling to share your projects and enthousiasm, especially with the ones who believe in you... Ok, I talked too much!

Some years ago, I read a book about Japanese Culture. Even I still feel the need to look through the pages of this book, I remember strong reasons behind their success in not only technology, but -especially last 10-15 years maybe- technology of textile, fashion and art. It was how I was feeling today!
Welcome to Homemade fashion!
It's a sort of fashion camp in the house for some days, getting ready for ITS#10...Only 2-3 days left to make the package and send them all to Trieste!
I have to be thankful to my sweet love about being so patient to me nowadays, I know he supports me with all his heart and this gives big comfort to me.
Here, I should confess there is another heart I wanna have, the big big red heart of ITS Talent! I wanna hold it in my hands, feel the warmth of it... Already excited for that!

FASHION SKETCHING

There are too many young girls, boys, who are asking me what to do to become a fashion designer, which school to choose, how to improve their sketching techniques and so on. And so often, they ask me which artistic materials to use for rendering. I would strongly suggest them to use copic markers, in my point of view they are still incompatible. But of course they can use pantone tria, zig kurecolor twinmarkers and combine so many other materials and techniques, its upto their imagination and creativity. There are no certain, angled rules in the world of creativity, there can exist only some suggestions to open their own way of expressing creativity.
Here I would suggest to watch out these videos about "fashion sketching". As suggested by here, under videos, there are so many other books that they can find in bookstores, which will help them to improve their techniques.
All these creative hearts, shining eyes! I love you all!

WHEN THE TALENT IS SIMPLY THERE

I'm really not sure if it's simply there, or it requires some work.
You know instinctly that you have talent, but being strongly aware of it and getting all your cells to manifest this talent to the world is another dimension of talent.
In this meaning, during last few years, I'm following some names from far, but I should confess Iris Van Harpen, young Dutch designer who is only at her 24, is the one with whom I'm mostly impressed.

She is so comfortable in using 3D forms in her designs, like she is only sketching. So fluid, so effortless. This is really impressing.
Of course it is not surprising to learn that this young Dutch designer is in collaboration with an architect -since her designs are so architectural- Mr. Daniel Wildrig, and they collaborate for the brandname MGX by Materialise.

I think we can call her multi-branch designer, with the materials (ployamide above) and the techniques she choses. I'm sure we will be hearing more about her, and on my side, another successful, wide visionned fashion designer is gifted to the world. And this is really inspiring.

Quite 10 years ago, ITKIB (Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters Association), held an interview with me, they asked my dream company to work together with. I was a fan of "Diesel Style Lab" and frequently visiting and shopping from their shop in Istanbul, so of course my reply was "Diesel Style Lab". This name is still giving the same heartbeat to me, and when I follow their journey, I see more and more, it was the best answer to be given...I love "Diesel" philosophy, I appreciate too much their way to move on their own style, and especially, I really would know if there is a way to live on this island:

I really appreciate their addiction to their own philosophy, technology, innovation. These are not easy criterias to catch in a fashion brand - with several reasons. In my opinion, Marithe et François Girbaud has ever been the pioneering at this field, without any worry for being extremely popular. They found their niche place in the market and still keeping the same success for years. I'm sure it would be so wonderful to work within this sort of a team...
I think we have to remember their "wattwashed" technology too, and I strongly suggest you to see the little movie on their website...Once again, they created a masterpiece!

It was a sort of chance to come across with Erica one day, on twitter, and it was a chance that she discovered my website, with its form maybe 1 year ago.

Le Cuir A Paris was one of the fairs I was visiting as regular as possible, but actually, till the moment that we met with Erica one day, it never came to my mind to exhibit there as a designer. I the end everything was sudden, I had to get ready in quite very short time, there were some moments that I had to make some fittings online or by e-mail cuase we were running short of time. But I have to thank this organization that they caused me to prepare the initial pieces of my very fist brand name. Here they are, I'm sharing with you...They are made of washed vegetale leather, customizable in shape, this is why I called them:

Ten years ago, at my twenties, colors of my collections were more aggressive. But today, my preference is the colors of the last two summers, pale beiges, beige-roses etc. These colors are going hand in hand with the upcoming trends of the general "belief trends" of the world too. Personally, I strongly believe that, more and more people are dedicated to "good life", means, more and more people are interested in "self-healing" methods, clearing their inside and outside, and intending to share their light with the others. As a result, like Anteprima was forecasting for summer 2011 and is still forecasting for next summer, we are surrounded -and it semms will be surrounded by- caressing and loving colors.

WOMAN GIRDED WITH FIRE

In 2001, I was working for a company which was building chic villas and I was responsible of helping clients, in order to decorate their houses the best as possible - like an interior architect. My title was still "industrial designer" even though. But the fire of "fashion" never stopped in me, even some difficulties like being have to come back home from star designers' school, "Central of Saint Martins" in London, because of a sudden heart attack of my sponsor. This had to change the existing conditions, I said "ok", it does not finish here, I go on, with all the power, all the energy I have. I might have been not so lucky for some time, but there is still a way to go, and it is my way. I couraged myself, like one of the professors at CSM was telling, I told myself "Go for it!". So I attended some national design competitions in Istanbul. Yes, I was in the final! With the collection named;

"WOMAN GIRDED WITH FIRE"

All big Turkish designers were there, and important editors from world fashion press! What an excitement it was to be in front of Hussein Chalayan, Atil Kutoglu, Dice Kayek etc. I was feeling like burning like the colors of my collection.

This collection was quite completely made up of leather in degraded colors from red to yellow. It was telling the story of women who have to face life alone, especially in metropols, their loneliness in crowd, and their fight for standing strong. The dark colors like black, ash were symbolising their dark side of them, when they stay alone with themselves during night, and the vibrant colors like red, orange, yellow were symbolising their energetic and active side, their power to recharge themselves in all conditions and their ability to revolt against life.

What is the story of the name Humanatarina?
Well...

During summer 2007, I saw a very interesting dream. Very interesting it was, because for the very first time in my life, the voice talking to me was astounding.
I was in a hotel in this dream. An old lady in a blue tailleur and a hat of the same color, standing with her daughter, stopped me. The feeling was strange. She was seeming like she was already knowing me, and waiting for me to cut my road and tell these to me. I was just running to catch my friends to go to the seaside together. As getting ready to leave the lobby, passing from a wooden decorative bridge, this lady suddenly caught my arms and told me;

"You are HUMANATARINA!"
I said "beg your pardon?"
She repeated;
"YOU-ARE-HU-MA-NA-TA-RI-NA!"
It was shocking! What was this old lady wanting from me?
The morning I woke up, I can easily say that I was quite trembling, it was engrossing and exciting!

In the end, yes, these days I was still dreaming of my own brand, and trying to find the best name for that. After some time, I stopped searching. But like most of the things, or the best answers in life, what we search for is coming to us at the moments we are less expecting it!
