An Evening of Masonic Light – June 14, 2014

The evening of “Masonic Light” at Humane 21 Rochester New Hampshire is a mere month away, Saturday June 14th. The evening will feature the artist and artistry of Brother Ryan Flynn, an insightful lecture by Brother Paul C. Smith, PM of Phoenix Lodge No. 105, New Hampshire’s first Traditional Lodge of Observance.

Also speaking will be Brother Pat O’Sullivan, Worshipful Master of Phoenix Lodge No. 105, on his subject, “From the Western Mystery Tradition to Modern Science.” The evening will also feature a very special traveling Brother, Anthony Mongelli of LaGuardia Lodge No. 1130 of Staten Island, NY. Bro. Anthony Mongelli, Jr. was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in 2001. He is the current Senior Warden of LaGuardia Lodge No. 1130 (his mother lodge) and is also a Royal Arch and Cryptic Mason, Knight Templar and a member of other York Rite Bodies. He is the Research Assistant to the Grand Recorder of the Grand Commandery of the State of New York. He has written numerous articles that have appeared in Living Stones Masonic Magazine and he is an Assistant Editor of The Working Tools. Brother Mongelli is the author of The Craftsman’s Symbology Series; Book 1: Selected Symbols of the Entered Apprentice Degree, which was released in July of 2013. He is presently at work on Book 2, to be released in the summer of 2015. Brother Mongelli has given numerous lectures at lodges he has been invited to.

Humane Lodge will be opening the doors to the Temple at 4:00 PM and kicking off the event with a couple of speakers beginning at 5:00 PM. The lodge will break for dinner (for those who have made reservations) at 6:00, and will resume with more speakers at 7:00 PM.  This event is open to all Master Masons and admission to the event will be by presenting a current Masonic dues card.

The dinner will be prepared by a Brother Carl Helender of Strafford Lodge, in Dover, NH. Please come out and enjoy this evening of brotherhood and Masonic Light with some of the mover and shakers of Freemasonry.

Humane Lodge Participates in Rochester Chamber of Commerce Community Expo

On May 1, 2014, Humane Lodge No. 21 participated in the annual Rochester Chamber of Commerce Community Expo, where businesses are provided the opportunity to meet, discuss and showcase their products and services to the local business community and to the general public in a trade show format.

Members of Humane Lodge were on hand to provide information about the lodge, its involvement in the community, and various charities that it supports. The members also had an opportunity to present information and answer questions about Freemasonry for attendees interested in becoming a member, or who were unfamiliar with the fraternity.

The booth was successful, being visited by both men and women alike, and provided a way for members of the community to rediscover that Freemasonry is alive and well in the City of Rochester.

Humane Lodge Joins the Rochester Chamber of Commerce

Humane Lodge has been a long-standing member of the Rochester community and recently, the lodge decided to join the Chamber of Commerce in Rochester to help strengthen relations within the community and let the business community know that Freemasonry is alive and well in the city of Rochester. Dan Gilbert, Senior Steward of the lodge and Rochester Chamber of Commerce liaison, attended a new member reception on April 22 and was offered a brief opportunity to speak about the lodge and who we are. Bro. Gilbert will be representing the lodge at a Business Expo on May 1 as part of a business-to-business chamber event.

We look forward to growing our relationship with members of the Chamber and being an active part of our community.

Humane Lodge Sea Dogs Trip – June 22, 2014

Humane Lodge will once again attend a Portland Sea Dogs game in Portland this summer on June 22, 2014. Tickets are $15 per person, children under 12 are FREE and the cost of the ticket includes an air conditioned bus ride to and from the park, BBQ lunch at the park and reserved seating for the game. Buy your tickets now; there were only 48 tickets available total for this event and over half of them are already gone. Contact the Secretary for details and to purchase tickets.

Rochester Masonic Bodies Christmas Party – Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 5 pm

Humane Lodge is hosting a Christmas Party for the Rochester Masonic Bodies on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 5 pm. Each attendee should bring a dish to share, or a dessert and an ornament(s) to donate a Christmas tree for a needy family this holiday season. All bodies in the building are invited as well as their respective families. The dress for this event is casual because we want everyone to be comfortable and have a good time. Santa will arrive around 6 pm to greet the children and distribute gifts to them as well. If you would like your child to receive a gift from Santa, please bring a small, wrapped gift ($5-10 max), write your child’s name on the gift and deposit it with a member of the lodge upon your arrival at the party.

We hope all of the Masonic Bodies will be represented at this party and that everyone has a very Merry Christmas.

The Annual Meeting of Humane Lodge was held on December 3, 2012 at 7:30 PM following a roast chicken dinner by James Farrington Chapter, OES. The business of the evening included any business to come before a lodge of Master Masons, as well as the annual reports of the Secretary, Treasurer and Standing Committee. Butch Kelvington – In Rehab from Knee Operation

Butch Kelvington had a knee replacement last week and is currently in rehab at Colonial Hill Nursing Home on Rochester Hill Rd. I believe that he will be at the rehab facility through the Christmas holiday, if any of our brethren would like to visit him. A Special Communication of Humane Lodge No. 21 will be holden on December 17, 2011 for the purpose of Installation of newly elected officers for Humane Lodge. Humane Lodge will open at 1:45pm. The program will start at 2pm. Following the installation there will be a Prime Rib dinner at 3pm, with mashed potatoes, corn gravy and desert. Reservations are a must officers are automatically counted. If bringing a spouse a girl friend or family members you must make reservations. They need to have an accurate count for this prime rib dinner. Reservations must be in no later than December 13, 2011.

Memorial Day Parade – May 30, 2011 at 10 am in Rochester

On Monday, May 30, 2011, Humane Lodge No. 21 will be marching in the
Rochester Memorial Day Parade. As a reminder to all that to march
the Grand Master given his dispensation for us to wear aprons, collars
and jewels and be attired appropriately, which means tuxedos for
officers and suits for additional brethren. The parade route is about
2 miles and ends at the Rochester Common with Memorial Day
Ceremonies. Formation is at the Holy Rosary Church on North Main
Street at 9 am. The parade steps off at 10 am.

Day Weekend!

Masonic Funeral Services for Frederick M. Steadman (1960-2011)

There will be a Masonic Funeral Service for departed brother Frederick M. Steadman, 45 year Secretary of Humane Lodge. He passed away quietly in the hospital on Monday afternoon. The funeral, at Fred’s wish, will be the only services held for him and will be on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 7:30 pm at Edgerly’s Funeral Home in Rochester, NH. All brethren that are available are requested to attend.
