There is something I must confess, procrastination is my middle name when it comes to landscaping my 7,000 square foot back yard, especially in 90 degree weather. But last weekend, I finally put my big girl pants on and got to work.

As I put sweat, blisters and tears into every inch of my yard and garden I found a surprise. Mice! Yes, I said mice! These little guys had been tearing up my garden, flower beds and made a home in my shed. Pesky little critters!

Mice were a new problem for me but my work at HSSV lead me straight to the solution. I could bring another kind of four-legged furry friend home that they might not be so comfortable meeting face to face - a working cat!

A couple weeks ago we adopted out 4 working cats. Icicle and Monsieur Chocolat went to one open "position" while Earl Grey and Zoey were "hired" by another family. These kitties got a new start providing rodent security sweeps in exchange for food and board. These outside cats were spayed or nuetered, microchipped, tested, and vaccinated before starting "work". They are behaviorally tested to be suitable
for this kind of placement, so you know you can trust them with us as a "reference".

I always thought that a working cat wasn’t an option for me because I thought of these types of cats as “Barn Cats”. But it makes sense that if mice live here, so can cats. My small garden could use a guardian too! So, I got myself signed up to be called to adopt the next garden cat that becomes available. Goodbye mice, hello summer of BBQs!

Holly and Inky: A Love Letter

Dear Inky,

It's been six days since you left and don't get me wrong, I'm happy for you. I think it's great you found a nice family. I just miss you. I miss our play dates, running together in the field, wrestling together. Most people look at me and they think eh, small dog. You understood that I'm not small dog. I might weigh seventeen pounds but inside this smallish frame beats the heart of a lion. I run with the big dogs. I wrestle with the big dogs. I bark like a big dog and I herd like the great flock guardian breeds of the Middle East.

Yet they call me a schipperke mix. Sigh.

You & the 49-ers broke my heart.

But Inky, mi amour, I digress. Since you've been gone I've been trying everything to forget you. First I tried burying myself in televised sports. I got into it but it wasn't enough. You know me. I have to be playing myself - chasing big dogs or fetching or running. I don't mind hanging out in front of television but I need to my exercise.

After my brief dalliance with team jerseys, sports bars and betting pools (I lost seven biscuits to Speedy, the slick little beast) I decided that being outside made me feel closer to you. So I decided to take up gardening.

Where do you want the next hole?

As you can imagine, this was a failure. Paws are great for running, for digging, for walking, for wrestling with your big dog friends. When it comes to detail work like weeding and pruning, they're less than optimal. I excelled at digging and watering the flowers (in my own way) but that was the beginning and end of my skills.

After that debacle I'm embarrassed to say I tried to comfort myself with food. Biscuits, bully sticks, bits of cheese filched from volunteers, whatever I could get. It didn't make me miss you any less, my beloved bully dog buddy. It just made me a little portly. Luckily with my energy level I'll burn it off quickly.

Nom nom nom. Inky. Nom.

Obviously I needed to channel my energy into more athletic, healthy pursuits. Like extreme outdoor hiking. I have a lot of volunteer friends here and they've been great about taking me on some of the trails. No one will take me skydiving or else I'd try that, too. I'm fearless, you know that.

I won't lie, the hiking is great. I love being outside, love burning off some energy and it keeps my mind off you.

Keep up!

But here I still am, Inky darling. And though it pains me to say this, with you gone it's time for me to seriously start thinking about moving on. Finding a family of my own. Maybe one with a big dog to play with. Their big dog won't replace with you, my friend. But perhaps I could be a good companion to a lonely dog. With a nice family that understands me and won't mistake me for a delicate flower.

I've been meeting some new people and I really feel like it's my time. That any day now those perfect people are going to come in and say "hey, that zippy little black dog we saw online, the one that's like a 100 lb border collie in a 17 lb package, we want to meet that one!". That day is coming, Inky. I'm going to have my own people soon, just like you. But trust me, I'll never forget you.

June Bug Needs To Have A Serious Talk With You.

Hey there. Thanks for coming. Sit down, we need to have a chat. This won't take long but it's important. Look, I've been here a while. It's time you think about taking me home. I know I was a hot mess when I came in:

I'd been living at a construction site with two friends for quite a while. It wasn't the easiest life and from the looks of us the shelter staff guessed we'd been out there for some time. The nice construction guys were feeding all of us but we were a little too scared to make friends with them. When the construction company finished the building they were working on they brought us here so we'd be safe. I looked horrible, I know. And I was super scared of people. We all were.

My friends got adopted but I'm still here. I'm still a bit scared of people but after I meet you once or twice I warm up. I've made a lot of friends since I've been here. Like Greg:

My world has gotten a lot bigger since I got here. I've learned how to enjoy the pool - we didn't have one of these out at the construction site:

If you need some help with your inhibitions try Buddy, the little dog in the third picture. Wiggles, who is also pictured, is already adopted. Milton, our enormously pleased white dog in the fourth picture, is more than happy to move in and tutor you as well. Jude, the very expressive tennis ball dog in the fifth picture, would be as pleased as Milton if you'd come in to meet him. Buddy, in the sixth picture, can teach you his show-stopping pout, guaranteed to get you what you want. All of these guys are available at our Milpitas Animal Community Center. If you love our dancing fluffies in the seventh picture, I'm both pleased and saddened to tell you that Keeko and Paris were adopted. So was Graham, the mushy faced bully dog in the seventh picture.

Making Cents For Our Animals

15 year-old Harrison Eagle of San Jose, wanted to create a Pennies for Paws donation project in support of the animals at Humane Society Silicon Valley. "I have always loved animals and I always want to do my community projects for animal causes,” Harrison admits. “So when my mom told me it was time for a new community project I decided to do a Penny Drive for Humane Society Silicon Valley.”

Demonstrating a “Can Do!” attitude, Harrison persisted past the first ten schools that rejected his request, finally convincing Discovery Charter School in West San Jose to participate. For six weeks, Harrison posted flyers at the school and put special announcements in the school newsletter and in the school’s email groups. Working with our Education Department, he was able to arrange an award for the classroom that donated the most money: a chance to name three of our animals. The combination of the cool prize, Harrison’s hard work, and his sincere dedication to our animals really paid off. “We raised a total of $425.44,” Harrison beams.

“Harrison has been supporting Humane Society Silicon Valley since he was about five years old,” according to his mom, Barbara Eagle. “Over the years, he’s baked dog biscuits, made catnip toys, collected newspapers and blankets – never because it was required for scouts or for school. He does it because he really cares. He has a generous heart.”

“With just a little effort, I was able to support an important organization and a cause that I really care about,” Harrison smiles, “It felt great helping out Humane Society Silicon Valley.”

Monty the Great!

Introducing... Monty!

Hello.

Shelter life was pretty stressful for Monty, so much so that he was actually losing hair. So safely in the care of foster mom Jean, Monty has been improving and living the good life. Here's some fun facts about Monty straight from the woman who knows him best:

1. He loves to play with string toys

OMG STRING!

2. He wants to play with the kittens but he's just not too sure how to go about it (I think they're a little small for him).

3. He was terrified of the television when he first came here but now he is getting used to household noises and completely ignores the television.

Puppy bowl rerun? Seriously?

4. He loves to be brushed with a zoom groom and he can't get enough head and cheek scratching. He purrs to let you know how much he's enjoying the attention.

So. Gooooooooooooooood.

5. He likes to find a sunny spot for his afternoon nap.

Top Five Reasons HSSV Dogs Are Better Than A Vegas Show

Reason #1) Less Eyeliner, More Levitation.


Levitation, Vegas Style.

Vegas magic shows occasionally will offer a display of levitation. Inevitably, these will be done far away from the audience or only viewable in blurry photos. Yawn.

Levitation happens every day here, particularly when Inky is around and there's a toy involved. It's actually hard to take a picture of Inky with his feet on the ground. Polite and gentlemanly in his obedience class, the big boy veritably floats when it's play time. No blurriness here. Think you missed it? He'll do it again.

#2) When Our Dogs Hypnotize, No One Winds Up Talking To Their Shoe.

Hello 911? I smell rubber and dirty socks.

Traditional magic show hypnosis inevitably winds up with the participants humiliating themselves in ways they'll never live down. Who needs that? Normal life is embarrassing enough and you paid too much for the iPhone to make calls from your shoe.

You are flying towards my mouth, flying cookie.

Our dogs don't mess with silly human tricks. If you're going to the trouble of hypnotizing something make it count. Hypnotize a cookie (like Oso is) or hypnotize a human to give you a cookie. Just stare at the treat bag long enough and they'll get the idea.

Reason #3) Vegas Magicians Make Things We Actually Need Vanish.

Spleen? I don't need no stinkin' spleen.

If you're going to make something disappear, probably better that it be something you can easily replace. Therefore having everything south of your chin but north of your feet vanish is a really, really bad idea. You need those organs. They like, pump blood and process oxygen and stuff.

This is a buffet, right?

Tara makes kibble disappear. And if more kibble doesn't appear quickly, she'll make the bowl appear at your feet. While kibble is necessary it's way cheaper and easier to replace then vital internal organs, the Statue of Liberty or members of the audience.

Reason #4) Cirque De Chihuahua Is Way Funnier.

File under 'worst moment to have an itchy nose'.

The fact that people can do this is amazing. It's awe-inspiring. It can even make you feel guilty for skipping that yoga class you meant to go to. But it doesn't inspire hilarity like....

We are NOT attempting the pyramid, Lionel.

Small dog play group. They bend. They twist. They contort. They make ridiculous faces and funny squeaking noises. They run too fast and wipe out on the grass. It's impossible to watch an HSSV small dog play group and not smile.

Reason #5) Pomeranian Patting Beats Lion Lifting Any Day.

This is a bad idea in so many different ways.

Lions, like a lot of cats, prefer four on the floor. Leaving out the politics and silly outfits, this whole scenario is fraught with problems. Ugh.

Small and fluffy, yes. But lion-like in his own way.

Eleven year old Pomeranian Bosco also prefers four on the floor but he was always up for some patting. Prior to finding his new home (Godspeed, Bosco!) he got a lot of attention from staff, volunteers and the public. Even Mike, the facilities manager, fell prey to his charms.

The Claws Make the Paw

Spring has started to bloom and it seems like everyone is sporting an new pedicure to celebrate the return of sandal season. It may also be the time to take a look at our kitty's nail needs. Our cats have plenty of advice to keep toes looking pretty.

Chico says: Trim your kitty's claws. Check out the proper technique to a purrfect manicure.

"I am ready when you are!"

Oden advises: Provide catnip-covered scratching posts to encourage self grooming habits.

"Cat nip makes everything better."

Fluffy suggests: For a lasting at-home solution apply nail caps like Soft Paws.

"I have a pin board for nail art."

HSSV Almuni Lucien doesn't have anything to add, he just wants you to see how many toes he has.

Thinking Black and Tan?

You could have this dress. It's sophisticated and pretty and is perfect for formal

occasions. But you definitely wouldn't want to wear it for a walk around the block or to a barbecue - oh, the dry cleaning bills. You what is black and tan and a great match for Spring and Summer fun?

ZEUS!!

This beautiful black and tan boy came in with an injury that has since been treated. At eight years old he's mellow and friendly. Due to his injury he's not terribly high energy but he would love to go for walks. He's friendly and social and loves being patted. He'd be great company for summer barbecues and backyard time. Unlike the dress, if he gets barbecue sauce on him he's likely to clean it up himself. He's wash and wear!

A Sleek All Black Look?

Very slick, very modern, probably not something you'd wear hitting the trails in the Santa Cruz mountains or hanging out on the beach. In fact it's probably the last thing you'd want to wear to the beach. Imagine getting sand out of those glasses - eek. And the leather with salt water? Forget it. You know what is just as stylish but a great choice for beach days?

ELLA!

Just as sleek, just as modern and she knows how to rock a neck bandanna. Sand can easily be brushed out of her short, shiny coat and she's guaranteed to make any trip more fun. This fun, silly two year old has a history of being housebroken and crate trained and has attended some obedience classes already. Probably mixed with Kelpie, she has the mind and energy level of a herding dog and would love to do agility and flyball. Unlike our black leather suit, she won't shrink from exposure to salt water.

How About An Elegant Russet Suit?

Classy! Corduroy! And who can turn down a fedora? Corduroy attracts dog hair, though. And that is a lot of clothing - shirt, tie, vest, jacket - aack. It could take you a half hour just to get dressed. Not a good thing when the weather's nice and you just want to go. You know what's always ready to leave in five minutes?

Jake!

Snap his harness and leash on him and handsome Jake is ready to be out the door! Housebroken and congenial, six year old Jake has been in foster care for more than a year waiting for his perfect family. He's not great with other dogs but he adores people and bonds very closely with his person. He's not destructive in the home and loves going out for walks and hikes. Unlike the corduroy suit, he doesn't attract dog hair (though he does shed it). And unlike the fedora, he's perfectly safe to have out on a windy day.

Maybe An Adventurous Tan Ensemble?

While this looks great on Nicole Kidman, it might be a bit much for most of us. If nothing else, finding a safari suit would be difficult in the South Bay. That said, should you decide to go for this look (and even if you don't) you'll need to have a great adventure to wear it out on. And you know who is a great adventuring partner and doesn't require a veil and goggles of his own?

OSO!

Okay, so maybe he would look smashing with some goggles of his very own. Even without, this three year old shepherd mix is stunner. Oso is enormously sweet, very energetic and will do just about anything for a cookie. Check out his picture - that's his cookie face. In the brief time he's been here he's learned sit and down. He loves stuffed animals, cuddling and playtime.

Adorable Instruments of Mass Destruction: Meet The Puppies of HSSV.

I'm going to eat some of your socks. You'll forgive me.

It's been a busy spring here at HSSV with lots of adoptions. Not only is nature giving us a new crop of tulips, we also seem to be harvesting a big crop of puppies as well. We currently have pups from several different litters. Some of these guys came through our PUP program.

Sofa, chew toy, whatever. Let's not quibble over details...

What is the PUP program? Prevent Unwanted Pregnancies (PUP) helps people with accidental litters find loving, responsible homes for their puppies and get their dogs fixed to prevent future whoopsies. PUP participants surrender the puppies to us at no fee provided we get to fix mom (also at no fee) prior to returning her to the owner.


I wouldn't walk down the hallway barefoot if I was you.

We also take transfers from other shelters and several of our pups came from county shelters. If other shelters are too full or have pups (or dogs) that need a quieter shelter, we'll work with them to bring the animals to HSSV. We also will transfer in animals that would benefit from some extra medical or behavioral TLC or are too young to be immediately adoptable. Our awesome foster parents will open their home to the too-youngsters until they're ready to find a forever home.

No wonder you loved that shirt so much - it was delicious.

Once puppies are adopted out, we offer puppy and older puppy training classes to help new owners learn to communicate with their new family members. The classes are also an excellent chance for pups to develop social skills. Puppies, while adorable, can be a handful and having access to a trainer to help teach desirable behaviors and talk you through issues can be invaluable.


I'm not saying I peed in the kitchen. I'm just saying you might want to consider the possibility that what's on the floor is not water.

All pups adopted from HSSV come spayed or neutered, microchipped and with all shots that are age appropriate when they leave. If they're too young to have a rabies shot adopters are given a voucher to come back for one. They also have access to our behavior helpline and receive discounts on our training classes. With so much cuteness and so many adorable little faces, who can resist?

Ellen, Dean, Wilson, Archie and Betsy are all available for adoption from our Animal Community Center in Milpitas. All of them are lovely puppies and not one of them has done the horrible things in the captions. That said, they did maul Erica with puppy breath during the making of this blog.

Don't worry, I think she's going to survive.

No, Donut. Not the bunny. That's not an egg.


Wait, Donut, oh no.....not the stuffed Easter Bunny.

Donut is a friendly, goofy guy who loves stuffed animals and doing zoomies. He's always happy to make a new friend, human or canine, and will play for hours. His favorite things are stuffed KONGs, Vienna sausages and any stuffed animal he can make off with. At 78 lbs he's a bit of a big lug but he walks well on a leash and is always up for a new adventure. If you'd like an Easter Donut come see us today!

A Slow Wanderin' Chi of Many Names...

This is Columbus. He's the laziest explorer ever.

Can you just put the food bowl here? I don't want to get up.

Columbus and a bunch of other chihuahuas were found wandering the wilds of Sunnyvale. They went exploring en masse and a good Samaritan found them wandering by the side of road. He rounded them all up and brought them in but their patrons (or whoever it is that funds chihuahua expeditions) never came for them.

Since he's been here Columbus hasn't done much but sleep, eat and make a lot of human friends. He's a healthy little guy, he's just a man of leisure.

The other thing Columbus has done is rack up a bunch of nicknames. Pig-Pig, for his silly snorting and snuffling noises.


Snuffle snuffle. Oink.

Slo-Mo for his glacially slow walking pace. Columbus is a super-sweet little cuddly lap warmer but not a hiking partner. We don't know how far from his starting point Columbus was when he was found exploring but however far it was it's a pretty sure bet he didn't get there quickly. A quick lap around the parking lot can easily be a twenty minute excursion.


I'll be there when I get there and not a minute sooner.

Columbus/Pig-Pig/Slo-Mo is eagerly looking for someone who loves television, people watching and handing out treats. They should have a warm lap and not walk too quickly. If it sounds like he's your speed, come see us today.

Porkchop's Big Melon

This is Porkchop. Porkchop (or Porky as we affectionally call him) is a sweet nine month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix who's lived with kids, cats and other dogs. Like most teens, he can be a little overenthusiastic at times but he knows a lot of commands and loves people.

Hi.

Doesn't he look sweet? He is. He loves to try and sit on laps and gets very excited when he sees people he knows. He snorts, he snuffles, he makes piggish sounds. That's not what most people notice when they first see Porky, though. What they notice is.....

I'm handsome.

Porky's Gigantic Head.

It's enormous.

He's a squat little fellow, our Porkchop, and he hasn't quite grown into it yet. But at the size his head is now it begs for comparison to other large, round things.

Like a basketball. His head is very close in size to a basketball.

Are you making fun of my head again?

It's actually a little bit bigger than a cantaloupe.

But his face is a lot cuter than the one on this cantaloupe.


I'm really not finding this very funny, guys. Luckily his head is not quite as large as the Earth. That would make finding him a home very difficult. Even for a dog as great as him. I am a great guy. I don't deserve this sort of constant ribbing about my head. There's a lot of good news about Porkchop: he's got a great history. He knows sit, down, stay, rollover and a host of other things. He loves to meet new people and is a ton of fun. He loves to learn. But one more thing? The rest of him is totally normal sized. He weighs in at a very compact 60 lbs. He's a little short but very athletic and well muscled. Stop looking at my butt. And did we mention he gets along great with other dogs? Have you seen the dog behind me? His head is HUGE.

Chico, Tommy, & Bubbles Dispel Myths About FIV

Myth #1: FIV Cats Can Infect Dogs and People

Bubbles thinks not.

FIV is species specific - it only effects cats. Dogs and people are not at risk from FIV kitties. It can, however, be spread to other cats. That's why it's important that FIV cats be adopted to indoor only homes. They shouldn't live with other cats unless their feline roommates are also FIV positive.

Silly, puppy-ish Bubbles was transferred in from another shelter. He was a staff and volunteer favorite there and they were devastated to learn he was FIV positive. He was transferred here to be put up for adoption. When he's not hanging out in his cat tree, Bubbles enjoys sitting at the his door trying to get people to come visit, cuddling with anyone who will come visit and playing with his toys. If you're looking for a goofy, friendly kitty in a dignified tuxedo, Bubbles is your boy.

Myth 2: FIV Cats Don't Live Long.

That's so untrue it offends Chico.

FIV kitties can lead long, completely normal lives with normal care. It is important that they live indoors and eat a good diet to help them stay healthy (and avoid infection to other cats) but aside from that, they don't require anything special or different. They can easily live as long as a non-infected cat. With good nutrition it's not uncommon to see FIV cats live 13-15 years - a good long life.

Chico came to us when his owners couldn't afford his care. Like many male cats, he is prone to urinary blockages. This isn't related to FIV and is common in cats. When he required surgery his owner couldn't afford he was surrendered and it was discovered he also had FIV. He's not too worried about it and potential owners shouldn't be, either. Myth 3: FIV Cats Are Frequently Ill And Require Lots Of Vet Care

Albert Feline-Stein is giving that statement a dirty look.

While it's true that FIV cats are more prone to secondary infections than other cats, they don't require any care beyond what other cats would. Kept indoors and fed a good diet, it's unlikely they'll get sick any more frequently than other cats kept in the same circumstances.

Albert Feline-Stein is a gentleman of the road. He came in as a stray cat and so little is known about his life prior to HSSV. He's currently employed with our Human Resources department where he's working as an office cat for a staff member. His duties include being a good listener, keeping chairs warm and napping on desktops. Thus far his performance has been above average.

Best Romantic Performance

Rambles made everyone swoon during his smooch-fest of a video.You would never guess from his leading-man persona that he actually is a humble guy who enjoys butt scratches and snorts when he's happy. Rambles was previously known as Rambo but, in the tradition of Puff-Daddy, he's currently going by a different name. Other fun fact about this clip? He also commanded the biggest salary ever for performance in one of our YouTube videos, chowing through numerous string cheese sticks during production.

Best Direction In A Crowd Scene

Not since Ben Hur have we seen such masterful direction of a large number of extras. Like a doggy Charleston Heston, Kit Kat works the yard full of volunteers. It's not easy to direct and act but he does a fine job in this scene, really making himself look like the master of social situations that he is. Fun fact about this movie? Kit Kat didn't work out to prepare for this role. Despite being a senior actor, he keeps himself in great shape and can chase a toy like this any day of the week.

Best Stunt Tail

Speaking of performances that require getting in shape, check out Ace's tail in his debut video. Does it ever stop? Could it move even faster? Critics and fans alike say no, that tail is tops. Even in his still shots you can still see a blur where he was wagging non-stop. It takes more than a happy dog for this kind of posterior appendage stamina - it takes a seriously happy dog. Fun fact? No stunt doubles were used in the video. Yes, he did accidentally whap Patty but she was unharmed and in good humor about it.

Best Ad Lib/Improv Performance

With the craze for reality dating shows, it seemed a natural progression to incorporate some cinema verite into our videos. Lucky Spencer got to be our first ever Canine Bachelor. All the dating scenes with him and Justin in our Whole Pets store were shot as they took place. They had never met before being introduced with the camera going. Despite being a more reserved pup, Spencer handled it with aplomb and wound up having a fantastic time hanging out with Justin.

Best Performance

Everyone might be talking about Emmanuelle Riva's wrenchingly honest performance in Amour but when it comes to raw emotion, Juno steals the show. This shy little dog, found at a construction site where she had been living with several other dogs, gives us everything she has. We see her tentatively building a relationship with a volunteer, learning to play, to shake and finally just having fun with a ball and enjoying a belly rub. How can you not love this little girl and her emotional fearlessness as she learns that people are good and fun?

Bunny Fever Strikes HSSV. No Species Is Immune!

It's 'Some Bunny To Love!' time! Through the end of the month the adoption fee on all of our rabbits has been reduced to $20. Like our dogs and cats, our rabbits come spayed/neutered and microchipped. It seemed unfair to limit the fun to just rabbits so several of other animals - dogs and cats - became honorary bunnies.
Meet some of our 'Impostor Bunnies'!

Chico-Bunny

Chico is a handsome, laid back guy with a bunny-ish pink nose. He loves belly rubs and affection. Due to being FIV+ he needs to be indoor only and an only cat or in a home with another FIV+ cat.

Petey-Bunny

Sweet Petey is a gentle soul. He likes kids and attends our big-dog play group where he hops around like a bunny with the other dogs. He can be shy around people he doesn't know and is an all-star cuddler.

Ace-Bunny

Sleek, dignified Ace has lived with dogs and kids. He's rock-solid on using his litterbox but he's not much for other cats and would prefer to be a singleton. This super-civilized feline gentleman has always been indoors only and has amazing house manners.

Spencer-Bunny

Bunny-eyed Spencer came in as a stray so little is known about his life before HSSV. He doesn't just jump into relationships so he can be a little shy at first but after he gets to know you he loves to play. Like most dogs, he greatly enjoys a yummy treat and will do anything for one. His petite size and retiring nature would make him a great companion for a smaller house. Not only is he a rabbit, he's also a film star. Check out his video!

Sir Isaac Bunnington

Sir Isaac Bunnington is NOT an honorary bunny. He's a real bunny. And a very nice one. Isaac didn't have the best start in life but it hasn't impacted his personality. He's still a sweet, laid back bunny who enjoys snacks and being petted and is good about being held. If the honorary bunnies aren't your cup of tea, try meeting one of our great real rabbits.

Hose: you are my wrestling buddy, my chew toy and my safe spot. When other dogs in play group chase me, I come running back to your sheltering coils and hide in them. I don't poke holes in you. You don't spray me. We're perfect together. If a new family came to adopt me I'd be so very, very happy but I'd miss you. Maybe they would have a hose, too. I'll never forget you, hose.

Oh plastic squeaky hedgehog, how can I ever say enough about you? They throw you. I bring you back. They throw you again, I bring you back again. It's like they're trying to keep us apart and I simply will not let it happen. As many times as they throw you, I will always bring you back.
