Simple Wins Over Complex

noreply@blogger.com (Runs.with.Ferals) — Sat, 25 Jul 2015 13:41:00 +0000

the more busy images took 4-6 hours per panel to construct, while the more traditional flat-color toons were about 1.5 hours per panel. Now I see why comic strips are usually kept simple ! It's all about conservation of energy, looking ahead long-term, going the distance without burning out. And no wonder Jack Kirby was a penciller primarily; there weren't no time for nutt'n else !

DESIGNING CHARACTERS TIL THEY FEEL RIGHT

noreply@blogger.com (Runs.with.Ferals) — Sun, 22 Mar 2015 23:39:00 +0000

This character Sassy has gone thru several incarnations but now I think I have something I can really work with and here are the three things that told me so:

1) Fun To Draw !

2) Looks & Feels Natural To Me

3) Not Too Complex But With
Just Enough Details To Set
Her Apart From Others
