It's the start of 2013 and I'm excited to start another great hunting season. 2012 was a super season for many of us. We had several nice bucks harvested. See our gallery for our 2012 pics. Our first scheduled work weekend is set for 23-24 Feb. We are holding our annual shed hunt followed by Olin's famous frogmore stew. If anyone wants to come down Friday and stay in the clubhouse, please do. We will be starting our shed hunt/workday at 8:00 AM. Keep an eye on the calendar (home page) for the next scheduled workdays. Remember...work first, scouting second.

There are some changes this year that most of you are aware of but I wanted to get them on the website. As you know from last year, we changed the rules to allow 2 bucks now. One will be a buck of choice and the other must be one you will mount. The clubhouse is now part of the lease and not a separate payment. The total dues are $1,250 to cover the lease as well as the clubhouse. Guests are still required to pay $25 to hunt per day and $25 per night to stay in the clubhouse.

Terry and Cheryl Rude have the first room down the hall on the left have been appointed the Clubhouse Chairs. They will be in charge of the clubhouse committee (to be designated at the work weekend). All other rooms are first come, first serve. There are 3 other bedrooms so there is plenty of room for all. The other committee chairs (and team members) will be designated also that weekend. All committee chairman report to the governing board (Carl Stone- President, Richard Wesley - Vice President, and Erik Gerstenacker - Board Member). If you would like to be on a particular committee, please let me know.

DNR has a new link for deer hunters to accurately measure antlers. The link is http://dnr.sc.gov/wildlife/deer/pdf/ScoreSheet.pdf. This is very useful to keep records of bucks harvested in the future.

DNR facebook page is also a great place to get additional information for all seasons of game animals. The link is http://www.facebook.com/pages/South-Carolina-Department-of-Natural-Resources/49096224094.

Remember: all the required charts (deer observation chart, stand usage chart, and deer harvest chart) will be posted in the clubhouse again this year. The filling out of these records is critical to the successful management of our club and can't be emphasized enough.

I'm still adding new features to the website but would like your inputs. Thanks to Terry Rude for updating the 2012 pics in the gallery. Send me photos you would like posted for others to see along with any other news that we can post. Send them to my e-mail address at carl.stone@hotmail.com

I still am planning on posting the The "Wall-of-Shame" photos also. These are bucks harvested that weren't within club regulations and for some apparent reason suffered severe "ground shrinkage". You don't want to get on this wall:-0
