So there's a new Sonic TV show coming fall next year!

So far all we got is the promo pic above, but it still seems promising. Also, it seems Knuckles must've taken a metric ton of steroids to look the way he does here. (Or is it Knuckles? I kinda doubt Knuckles will look this way in the series.

The show's working title is Sonic Boom. It's gonna be on Cartoon Network (woo) and will be not only the first CG animated series, but the first actual comedy since Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Sure, Sonic SatAM, Sonic Underground, and Sonic X had its share of laughs, but AoStH and (possibly) this show are/will be primarily comedy.

I actually found out about this on the Sonic News Network (a Sonic wiki) while looking at the "Cartoons" section, but still I'm glad there's gonna be another Sonic TV show.

Fingers crossed, here's hoping it doesn't suck.

So hardcore Whovians like me found out yesterday live in the UK that Peter Capaldi (I might have misspelled the name) has been chosen as the newest regeneration of the popular Time Lord. Granted, I don't really know him (acting-wise), but still, big congrats to him.

I should also mention that this is my first blog entry to be posted via the Weebly Android app! Yay!

VLC is definitely the media player of choice for me. It'll play any file format whether it's MPEGs, Flash Videos, Windows Media, or even ISOs. Other great things I like about this free open source player is the ability to play YouTube videos just by entering the URL of it, changing the speed, skinning and tons more! And it's free and open source too! NERDS FTW!!

Originally created for the original Microsoft XBOX (XBMC did stand for "XBOX Media Center" in the beginning), XBMC (pronounced ex-bee-emcee), a free, open source media center application, has been put on Windows, Mac OS, Linux, a standalone OS, and even Google Android! It'll play almost all file types (MP4: yes; WMV: unfortunately not) and includes a great add-on repository of skins and programs to do various useful things! And it's great for your HDTV too, using the 16:9 aspect ratio.

Free Studio is a compilation of programs enabling you to do many things, included but not limited to:

• Download videos from YouTube (and convert them to view on devices like iPods)
• Convert videos to audio
• Convert videos to formats for popular devices and game consoles
• and it's all free!

I'm serious. It's free. ...OR IS IT?!!?!?! Yeah, it's not really. It keeps annoying the piss outta you to buy a "subscription," which (as far as I'm concerned) is code for "it's not free, you dumbass lololololololol enjoy you dumbf**k!"

And it is very s**tty at downloading YouTube videos. It rarely (emphasis on "rarely") downloads all the way. So it's f**king useless on the "downloading YouTube videos" part.

Well f**k you DVDVideoSoft.

KeepVid, powered by Java and the bounty of videos online, enables you to download videos from various sites like YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, iFilm, and more! Even though it bugs you with ads and you have to pay for the software version, it's still a good choice if you have a Chromebook.

June 23, 1991: Sega releases a game about a blue hedgehog that could-- wait; what am I saying?!; can travel faster than the speed of sound. His name? Sonic. Fast forward to 1993; more specifically, September 18. In conjunction with DiC Entertainment (now known as Cookie Jar) and network television station ABC, they released a TV series of the same name. However, with DiC being the kind of people adding more anthropomorphic animals to a children's show, they added a few (and by "few", I mean "many") more characters besides the familiar Sonic, his sidekick/friend Miles "Tails" Prower (a two-tailed fox with a bright mind; his two tails can be especially used for flying), and Dr. Ivo Julian "Eggman" Robotnik. Sonic, Tails, Princess Sally Acorn, Bunnie Rabbot, Rotor Walrus, and many many more join together as a group of Freedom Fighters living in a hidden base in the Great Forest of Mobius called Knothole. I could go on forever talking about this show (by the way, the TV show was dubbed "SatAM" by its fanbase due to new episodes airing on Saturday mornings and you can find more info here), but lemme get to the main point.

After two seasons and 26 episodes, the series ended on December 3, 1994 with a big cliffhanger. Snively (Robotnik's assistant/nephew) came out of some rubble from his (defeated) uncle's newest plan, wearing some new threads, threatening to take over the evil doctor's reign and (worse) being with an unknown accomplise. The cliffhanger was definitely disappointing to the fans of the show, so basically, the rest of the series were in their hands. My personal favorite continuation is a fan comic worth calling a third season; Sea3on. (Currently, the first four chapters are currently completed and available for downloading in PDF format at the time of this review.)

During the first season, Tails made cameo appearances. During the second season, he was (in some ways, namely the episode "Drood Henge") more involved in the Knothole Freedom Fighters's plans. In the third season, he was meant to be a regular character. ....That was before ABC pulled the plug. However, Sea3on finally gave Tails the chance to be a regular character with regular appearances in each chapter. Even though he is younger than the other Freedom Fighters, nonetheless he idolizes Sonic (more than likely a SEGA thing and/or a holdover from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, another series that began before SatAM did) and does what he can to be like him.

The most noticable thing about SatAM (and, personally, one of the many many MANY reasons I loved it) was its dark atmosphere. The only reason it's a family show is that it doesn't have too dark an atmosphere as well as some added light humor. Sea3on adds to that atmosphere, practically one-upping DiC and SEGA (and way more than likely Archie Comics).

Sonic SatAM had a lot of great characters, whether it was Princess Sally Acorn (the rightful heir to the throne whose father was sucked into "The Void"; read more at Saturday Morning Sonic), Bunnie Rabbot (another Freedom Fighter whose left arm and legs are roboticized), Antoine D'Coolette (he can be scared pretty easily), Sir Charles Hedgehog (Sonic's uncle, close friend of the King, and -- as far as we know -- the only completely roboticized person with free will), and many more.

Besides the obvious return of familiar faces, the introduction of Knuckles, Tails becoming more involved in missions, and much much much much MUCH more, Sea3on has some mini-episode-like comics (called "shorts"), chapter updates by page (usually every Monday), and it's more than likely gonna have an animated version sometime this year. (I'm actually springing for the voice of Tails, mainly cause my voice still hasn't hit puberty yet. Crazy right? I'm 15 and I still have a high voice!)

The fastest thing alive on TV makes a fanmade webcomic return for what should be considered the third season to (arguably) the greatest (and yet most short-lived) Sonic the Hedgehog TV series. Introducing a darker atmosphere, familiar faces, Knuckles the Echidna himself, and a lot of other great things; this takes the great Sonic SatAM TV show and basically three-ups the whole game. Basically, it's "way past cool"!

On August 30, 1999 (when I was but a year and a half old), DiC Entertainment (pronounced "deek" and currently owned by Cookie Jar) aired yet another children's show based on the all-too-familiar hedgehog of Sega, Sonic. What was it named? Sonic Underground. The show focused on Sonic and his siblings Sonia and Manic finding their mother, Queen Aleena, whilst at the same time being chased by Dr. Robotnik and his goons Sleet and Dingo. Sadly, was unfortunately cancelled on May 4, 2000 at forty episodes, failing to resolve its main plotline. After over twelve years, I believe this begs the very-much-needed question: WHY HASN'T ANYONE MADE SOME SORT OF FAN-MADE CONTINUATION OF THIS SERIES?!?!?!?! I will admit, their singing isn't really commendable (it's a children's show; it's gonna have cheesy singing), but the show should have about the same attention as the SatAM series. I will also admit, deviantART and YouTube can agreeably say otherwise, but aside from that, I don't know where else there is an equal-amount fanbase. The thing is, I would at least like SOMEONE to do a fan-made continuation that does what DiC didn't: complete the goddamn plotline of Sonic Underground. I don't care whether or not it has the singing (if it does have to, a "skip" button would be GREATLY appreciated) If there already is, however, I would appreciate a comment and a link to it from you guys, just as long as it's not to to Archie SSS #10 or the one by deviant 0Carkki0.

It'd be way past cool.
