Do you know someone who creates? Whether it be painting, photography, fashion, jewellery, design... there is sure to be someone you know who 'makes'.

You have probably even encouraged that person to pursue their talent, perhaps to open a little online shop or even just to have a little stall at the local market, enthusiastically assuring them that people will buy their delightful creations. But do YOU put your money where your mouth is?

Why not turn your words into action and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is!! You may just end up with some fantastic treasures and maybe even better, supporting local talent and making sure it feels valued!

No one ever forgives us for changing. They want us to be constant and always wear the same colours but we’re not meant to. We’re meant to be a little different each morning. Every two years I change and become someone else wearing the same eyes. It’s a little uncomfortable, like a snake shedding skins. They never forgive me for changing but I do it because you need to die a little bit now and then to feel alive.

In The Works...

Now, I will be the first to admit that I have been a little slack with the upkeep of this blog. I have, however, also concluded that since it is my blog, I am the boss-lady so if I decide to be slack - I say that is OK!!

That said, I haven't been entirely useless. In fact, I have several things on the go at the moment and thought I would put up a little tidbit so you can catch a glimps of what's 'In The Works'.

The new stuff includes the above 'Girl In The Shadows' range of necklaces and brooches, more of the wooden cameo masked brooches and some wall art made from textured papers and antique frames. What do you think??!

Six Years On...

Precious and I recently celebrated six years together. We spent a terribly sweet and romantic weekend on the Mornington penninsula, which included a trip to Ashcombe Maze and Lavender Gardens in Shoreham. I don't know about precious but I was pretending I was Alice in Wonderland the whole time... magic!

Peek at A-nom'-a-ly'

Ooooooh, Excitement! Hunter To The Hunted is now officially and exclusively stocked at A-nom'-a-ly' in McLarty Place, Geelong!!

This is truly exciting times. The lovely Sarah has put together a delight of a shop, merging her photography business with a gallery and store. It was a pleasure to receive Sarah's invitation to stock Hunter in the store and share the space with such names as Holga, Akina, Toddy, Cybertart, Betsy Blonde, Finch and The Paper Bag and Qupa & Mint.

So, If you have had your eye on something in the Etsy store and it has suddenly disappeared, it's either up there ^^ or down there (Insert down arrow, which I can't find). So you will just have to come into G-Town! Of course if there is no way for you to get to the shop and you have had your heart set on something, let me know and I'll see what I can do...

Ten Things...

Playing 'Ten Things' about me, courteous of Pip...

I was born with dislocated hips and wore a brace. My hips still hurt sometimes. I sucked my thumb until I was 22 and then suddenly stopped. I still have tiny well worn pieces of my sheepskin baby rug.
I am missing two teeth and had a large gap. I had braces put on to close it in grade 3 and had them off in grade 6, when everyone else was just getting theirs!
I lost my first teddy in Kmart when I was little. My parents got me a new one and I called it 'Belinda'. I then called every doll/toy I owned 'Belinda'. I hate the name 'Belinda'.
I have been interviewed for the 6 o'clock news.
I have no memory of certain times in my life.
I have been bitten on my big toe by an eel. It drew blood.
I cannot drive. I will never drive. I am terrified of driving.
I am one of six children. I have eleven nieces and nephews (and still counting).
I once was laughing at the fact that the Aussie actor, Beau Brady, had the same name as the guy on 'Days Of Our Lives' and how tragic I thought it was. My mum then informed me that she got the idea for my name from a character on the show...
Today is the day I found out my Grandad had passed away.

Friends Pip and Matt recently launched the creative network as a career network tool for creative professionals - kinda like a mash up between LinkedIn, Seek, Facebook and Vimeo. It's a place where creatives can promote themselves online by creating a free online profile; including portfolio, showreel and resume. "The aim of the site is to help connect creatives with one-another and with industry," says Pip. "With the eventual aim of bagging them that dream collaborator, job or client." We particularly like the fact you can send someone a handshake.

Finding Your Bliss...

It has been said that in order to be happy, you need to find your bliss and make it your life's work. Well this week I felt as though I had literally stepped into a huge pool of bliss - and I was working in a real life job at the time!! Ye-ha!

I have been extremely lucky this week to be working with the deliciously delightful Lauren Ferry from Herman Huckleferry and The Oddities Factory in Geelong. This teeny tiny little shop is brimming with quirky little delights in every corner. Lauren stocks devine creations from the likes of A Skulk Of Foxes, Victoria Mason and Ink and Spindle.

Lauren also has her own fantasmical range of jewellery and accessories under the label Okt-ober dee

I spent this week helping Lauren get some orders together to send off all over the country and also the assemblage of some of her amazing jewellery designs.

Not only did I get to do some amazing, fun, blissful work but I also got to do it while listening to some amazing stuff like this...

Today I am playing the "Five Faves" game courteously created by PIP from Meet Me At Mikes! The idea is simple, list your five favourite things for the week. I think you should play too, don't you?

So, after some careful consideration, here is the list of my "five faves"...

1. The new cardi and shirt I bought off Ebay this week (oooh naughty!!). The cardi even has a little owl on the back! *sigh*

2. Pop-up wallets. Lordy.... These pop-up wallets from Poketo make me swoon...yes they dooooo!

3. Florals and Stripes. These totally amazing 50's inspired Tea Dresses by sohomode will be the death of me...

4. This Blog here who knew that vintage florals could be so flippin' awesome??!

Don't get me wrong. I love the cooler weather, I really do. I would go for a snugly jumper over a barely there top any day. But this week it was like the weather only just found out that we were meant to be in autumn and decided that it had better make sure we all knew what we were in for over the next few months. Rain, rain and more rain, hail, wind... scary storms! Wowsers! Did I mention the rain?

Now, like I said, I am a cooler weather person. I don't handle the heat well at all. But the sudden onslaught of the 'wild and windies' caught me a little unprepared. I have been rendered completely useless, unable to fulfil my daily duties and nightly obligations. Why? Because, you see, it is very difficult to get around and do little bits and pieces whilst permanently cocooned in a fleecy blanket, wrapped so tightly that I was actually unable to find my arms - until it was time to reheat the wheat pack that had taken up residence inside the blanket that is..

While not actually THAT cold outside, the lack of sunshine meant a significant lack of heating for our home. The thermostat never actually made it to 15 degrees... thus no work was done, but I did manage to drive Precious into a state of madness with my (perhaps too?) constant "wow it's cold", "I'm cold", "THAT looks cold", "does my nose feel cold?", "I can't feel my feet", "It's too cold to cook", "you do it, I'm too cold", "I can't, I'm stuck in this blanket", "gee, you look cold", "are you cold? I am..."

So thrown by this early winter darkness, I began to feel gloomy. I started to wish for steamy nights where even a sheet is too much for sleep, the sound of sticky tape being pulled from the roll as you tear yourself from the old vinyl couch you're stuck on and seeking out shade in the tiny (and very slim..) shadows created by sign posts as you wait for the bus...

I had started to forget about what was so good and comforting about cooler nights and crisp, fresh days. So, I decided to thaw my fingers by cruising images that make me feel warm.... I am trying to remind myself of the awesomeness of autumn and that the cold is cool (!) when you get to wear lovely woolly things and cute as all gumboots and sip from a vintage floral thermos with a cork stopper!

Recently, my precious partner and I, had a mini photo shoot with the divine and incredibly talented Kelly from Alex Road Photography

We don't really have any photos of just ourselves that aren't taken using a point and shoot camera and employing the old 'arm out, both look into the lens' technique which is often only mildly successful...

Needless to say, Kelly did a fantastic job! The photos were taken in our own garden and really capture our personalities. I think that my favourites are the shots using the 'A', '&' and 'L' letters (our initials) given to us by my parents as a house warming gift. Thank you, Kelly!

A Cameo Appearance

That up there is a little tasty bite of my new cameo pieces soon to be in the Hunter To The Hunted etsy store!

Based on the magnificent work of the 19th Century French caricaturist, J.J Grandville (who had strong influences on many artists including Sir John Tenniel, the illustrator of Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland), these pieces are stately yet odd, proud yet peculiar.....

Grandville specialised in Anthropomorphism, or the attribution of human characteristics to animals. He would often depict politicians and merchants as animals in his work. The idea of Anthropomorphism is intriguing, don't you think? Are we like animals? Are animals like us? We tend to want to choose when we want our animals to have human characteristics..... Of course the dog can understand me when I tell him he is a good boy and to go play nicely with the cat. That rat in the roof though, that is dirty, disgusting!! I want it dead now, now, now!! Hmm.. says a fair bit about us really, doesn't it?

The Wonder of Wonderland..

Ok, so I know there have already been critiques of the new Tim Burton film saying that it's not as great as everyone has been expecting it to be, that It doesn't stay true to the original Lewis Carroll classic and that perhaps it should have not actually been named "Alice In Wonderland", but something more along the lines of " Alice Returns To Wonderland"....blah blah blah.... But I can't help it, I'm excited.

I love Tim Burton. I love Johnny Depp. I love Helena Bonham Carter. I LOVE WONDERLAND!!!! Seriously, I don't care about all the other stuff.... I just want the amazing visual feast, I want quirky characters that make no sense, I want to wonder what on earth is going on!

Who said it was going to be exactly the same as the book, anyway? Why would we want to see an exact replica of a story we have seen time and time again? What is wrong with reinterpretation?

Of course, that said, I have not actually seen the film yet. However, I enter into it with no pre-concieved expectation. I do not expect to see the same Wonderland I have seen in other films. I do not expect the same story. What I do expect is colour, fantasy, whimsy, quirkiness, character and something different.

Welcome to my VERY FIRST BLOG! I am still finding my way around here and learning what happens when I press "that" button, so please be kind to me!

Hunter To The Hunted has been born in order to help me put some order to the small (and large!) ramblings of my mind and of my day. These can also be witnessed in my lovely little Etsy shop of the same name - what a co-inkidink!!

The Hunter To The Hunted Store started out as a way to blend the passion I have to make things, with the unfortunate need I have to eat. I have always been intrigued by the idea of 'making', and have continuously sort out people who 'make', in order to exclaim and ponder over their objects and designs.

After completing a Fine Arts degree, I struggled to find satisfaction in the everyday working world and although I had been 'making' myself for a few years, I had never seriously considered the option of merging 'work' with 'making' until recently.

Hunter To The Hunted is the result of this merge. It is filled with my whims, my obsessions, my fascinations and the inevitable results of my incessant hunting.

So, why not be friends with me and let's go hunting!
