... I've been totally M.I.A. Shame on me.

December was the end of an amazing year, and a fresh start of a busy one! So far in 2012 I have started a new job @ MAC Cosmetics [yay!] and have started going back to school -again- [after a brief hiatus of waiting on my financial aid to finally clear]. Which is why in between school, work, and homework, I haven't been the best blogger. I just haven't had the time. But enough excuses. It's 2012! A fabulous new year! And I plan on blogging more frequently, I promise, so please stay tuned.

Here are a few photos I took yesterday of the recent snow/ice/rain storm we're currently having here in Seattle. Its a snowpocalypse, but oh so pretty isn't it?

Festive Christmas Nails

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!"- and feel a lot like Christmas here in Seattle [brrr!] I am so looking forward to the holidays- snow, presents, and christmas lights, who doesn't love this time of year? Maybe I'm just extra excited about it because I happen to be a December baby :) Either way, I thought I'd do some fun and festive Christmas nails on myself and here's how they turned out!

In my last post I mentioned how much I'm loving Sephora/OPI's Gold Glitter Polish, "Only Gold for Me", I am still very much obsessing over it and plan on purchasing additional colors next time I'm in Sephora. Love.

Is it crazy that I wanted to put up Christmas decorations the day after Halloween? My boyfriend thought so, lol, we waited until a couple days ago. I just love walking into our living room and seeing this...

Pink & Gold Nails

I was at Target recently (favorite store everr) when I saw NYC's nail polish in 'MoMa' [$1.75] , I instantly loved the color, and it definitely does the job when it comes to quick drying. I am a huge fan of quick drying nail polishes because I hate the amount of time it takes for my nails to dry- i'm impatient and I always end up dinging a nail on something and messing them up, so quick drying is definitely the way to go! I am also in love with this gold Shatter I picked up from Nordstrom Rack [$7.00] because as I've mentioned before, I love gold! And it has a really pretty shimmer to it- I dislike the matte Shatter's, they're just not as cute. Lastly the big pieces of glitter in Sephora by OPI's 'Only Gold for Me' makes for thee perfect top coat. Love.

No Heat Curls Using Socks

I finally decided to give the Sock/Hair curling technique a try- and I am in love!!! I only wish I would've discovered this method sooner! It is such a time saver for me in the morning- I wrap my hair up the night before, and when I take off my socks in the morning my hair is done and I'm out the door. I also love that I am able to achieve big bouncy curls without using any form of heat= no-damage. I also find that wrapping my hair in socks before I sleep makes for no tangles whatsoever in the morning, therefore also helping to prevent split-ends. Love.

So here's what I did...

1. Buy some kids mid/full lengths socks

** I purchased my cute Hello Kitty ones from Target's dollar bins

2. Split your hair into sections [I do sections of 6]

** Keep in mind that the smaller the sections the tighter the curl will be and vise versa

3. Use a spray bottle to dampen hair a bit and comb through

4. Hold sock horizontally mid-way on hair section and start by completely wrapping hair around the sock

** I wrap my hair going under instead of over because I like my curls to fall away from my face

5. Sleep

6. Wake up, remove socks and say hello to your fabulous curls!!

7. Optional: Apply product to hair to tame down and/or loosen curls if needed

** I used Moroccan Oil

Flower Child

I bought this hair flower clip from F21 [for under $5] some months back but haven't got around to wearing it until today. I love the color; fuchsia petals with purple tips and I found it fun and easy to wear. Not to mention, it helped give a pop of color to my all black work wardrobe- love.

All Hallows Eve

Happy Halloween! Just a quick post to share some photos from a Halloween party I attended a couple days ago. I went as Little Red-complete with basket, red robe and all. My boyfriend joined me and went as The Big Bad Wolf.

One of my favorite costumes of the night was 'One Night Stand"- how creative right? There was also three grown men who dressed as the girl group TLC- in silk pajamas, wigs, and full on make-up that was being applied in the kitchen when we walked in. It was hilarious!

I also took my niece and nephew out trick-or-treating this year, because I'm a big kid and wanted some candy for myself too ;) I had fun turning my nephew into Dracula/Vampire and my niece into a Wicked Witch. We even came across a great free haunted house someone put together in our neighborhood. We had lots of fun and scored tons of candy. I promise, I only took a couple of pieces and gave the rest of my stash to the kiddo's.

Forever Floral

Because I happen to be the only girl living in a house with 4 other guys, I've been on the hunt for the perfect robe to throw on and wear when I just don't feel like doing much. I really wanted something cute and lightweight, which surprisingly was not easy to find at all; everything I ran into either felt really cheap, really heavy, or felt like a towel. After checking out many different stores and shopping around on-line with no luck, I walked into F21 and found thee perfect robe. I especially loved the floral print, and for under $20- score!

Apparently my puppy Olivia seems to really like it too- ha.

Daiso Japan Mini Haul

This post is long over due- forgive me. About a month ago I realized they opened up a Daiso Japan store in our mall and I was so excited to check it out! For those that may not know what Daiso Japan is, its basically a dollar store but not your typical dollar store because its not filled with useless junk. They seriously have everything and anything you can think of to make your life easier and more organized. When I walked in and saw that they had an entire wall of false lashes I just couldn't resist the temptation to fill up my little shopping basket with some goodies.

I haven't got around to wearing all of them yet but the hot pink box of the double pair of falsies that say 'Daily' on them- I am wearing in my post, "Fall Inspired ELOTD", and the ones in the top right corner I am wearing in my "Lash-tastic" post.

The pink case in the bottom right corner is a little lash carrier. Perfect for nights when you go out and afterward need a place to stash your lashes without running the risk of crushing them to death.

I also picked up a 'Partial Eyelash Curler', that I hear works really well. If you have experience with this one or one like it, please leave me a comment letting me know what you think of it because I'm still on the fence about this particular product. It doesn't seem to work as well as my Revlon lash curler.

All in all I am THRILLED that they opened this store in my mall! Good quality lashes for $1.50. Can you say obsessed much? If you have a Daiso near you and are planning to pick up some lashes for yourself, the only con is the glue that they come with. Its not my fave. Make sure you pick up some good lash glue (I use Duo). And if you don't have a Daiso near you, check out their website: http://www.daisojapan.com

Crunching Leaves In The Forest

This will officially be my first- I guess you can say... 'fashion' post. Don't expect too many of these, ha, fashion and clothes are not exactly my forte. I usually opt for comfortable vs. fashionable, however I decided to share this outfit with you guys because I recently added this Jacket to my fall wardrobe and I'm in love with it! It goes with everything, it keeps me super warm, and its so cute! Not to mention I've been looking for one like this since last winter. It was given to me as a gift from my lovely boyfriend. I've been eyeing it on the hangers at Target for literally weeks now- and lucky me, he decided to surprise me with it for our 3 year anniversary! *smiles*

Fall Inspired ELOTD

Hi guys! So this is me on the way to The Bellevue Collection's Posh Party I attended about a week and a half ago. I was feeling inspired by fall and all of the beautiful warm golden toned leaves I've been seeing a lot of lately, so I decided to incorporate a bit of that into my make-up look for the evening- that and I just love gold! Enjoy!

Face:

- Bare Minerals Fairly Light Matte foundation

- Bare Minerals Original Mineral Veil

- Benefit Hoola bronzer

- Bare Minerals Laughter blush

- Bare Minerals Brunette brow filler

- Bare Minerals brow gel

Eyes:

- Bare Minerals Original Prime Time for eyes

- Bare Minerals Brightening Prime Time for eyes

- Bare Minerals Cerveza Eyeshadow

** I mixed the Brightening eye primer (you can probably use any good cream eye primer) with Cerveza eyeshadow to achieve more of an intense vibrant yellow gold color with the eyeshadow- this also makes it waterproof & creaseless.

- BH Cosmetics 120 Palette 2nd Edition using various colors

- Bare Minerals Onyx liner shadow

** Mixed with water to create a slick liquid line.

- $1.50 daily falsies

Lips:- Bare Minerals Bravado Pretty Amazing lip color** I use my eye primer to also prime my lips. After applying Bravado, I use bit of Mineral Veil with my concealer brush around my lips to prevent any running because no one likes lipstick on their face, ha.

Review: SeaME Face Soap

My Description: A friend of mine told me about this amazing all natural soap that she found at the local farmers market (I believe it was in Ballard, WA.) She swears by it and told me that it was pretty much the best face soap and/or cleanser that she's tried as of yet, so of course I wanted to try it out too!

I purchased mine at Duque Salon + Spa. I've been using this soap faithfully for a little over 2 weeks now and just can't get enough of it. It has cleared up a lot of congestion and clogged pores that I had, especially around my chin which is always my most problematic area. The soap smells wonderful, it has a light but fresh citrus-like smell that I'm in love with. The aroma alone makes me look forward to washing my face! Another good thing about this soap is how little you have to use to achieve a good lather, so I'm anticipating this soap will last me quite a while.

Lastly, I've tried many soaps and cleansers and some have a tendency to leave my skin feeling oily after washing, which I hate, but this soap leaves my skin feeling really clean and fresh- no excess oil or shine.

Pros: Affordable (I payed $20), clears skin of congestion: clogged pores and breakouts, all natural, and smells amazing.

Cons: My only wish is that it came in a pump! I don't mind the solid soap form but a pump would just make things a little easier. I also tried visiting the web address: SolSea.com to find more products from this vendor but the web address did not exist which worries me a bit for when I'll need to replenish in the future.

Overall: Great purchase! Exceeded my expectations. I definitely wish to re-purchase this product again once I run out of it. I'd highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a great face wash at an affordable price.

Editorial Coraline

My friend Mike, who is now a top brow and lash specialist in NYC, created this 'Editorial Coraline' look two years ago when we were still in school together at the Gary Manuel Aveda Institute Seattle. It turned out pretty amazing considering that at the time we both had no idea what we were doing! Everyone was creeped out by this look- I could tell by all the weird stares I got from people, ha, which was perfect because it was a great reflection of the creepy Coraline movie (that I loved). I get so into Halloween movies, which reminds me that I need to watch Hocus Pocus soon... If you have yet to watch Coraline, watch it! It's perfect for Halloween.

Speaking of Halloween, what will you be dressing up as this year? Or better yet, what should I dress up as? ;) I could use some inspiration. Your comments are greatly appreciated!

Lash Extensions

I was recently so lucky as to learn the art of Lash Extensions from my good friend and pro-extensionist, Lashes With Lou. I've been practicing and practicing and finally have some photos to show for it and share with you guys.

Definition of Lash Extensions via Wiki.: "The technique involves attaching a synthetic,silk or mink and even human eyelash extension to an individual eyelash on the client. The selection of the donor lash to which the extension is to be attached is a specialist task. It involves, carefully separating the natural lashes with a fine point tweezer to reveal one healthy eyelash. The eyelash extension is then dipped into medical grade adhesive and attached to the natural eyelash. The process is repeated until all eyelashes are covered and should last up to 3 weeks at which point a touch-up may be done."

I've learned through this process that I'm not the best at taking before & after photos of other people- so bare with me. This is something that'll take a little time and getting used to. The Bellevue Collection’s Posh Party: Photos & Overview

Yesterday I attended The Bellevue Collection's Posh Party at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue. This was my first time at the Hyatt Regency, and it was so beautiful inside. The decor couldn't have been more perfect.

This was also my first time attending Bellevue's Fashion Week which featured a beauty, trend, and runway show so of course I was beyond excited to be there. The event was all ages and and also featured personalized consulting and beauty and fashion make-overs. But what I was most looking forward to seeing was all the Fall trends!

I had so much fun at the Posh Party. If you've never been, I encourage you to attend in the future. I loved and learned a lot from all the different looks I saw coming down the runway. Some of my favorites of the night, and some of which I hope to incorporate into my wardrobe were: 60's Chic, Narrative Fur, and New Grunge.

I never thought I'd be saying this, but I will definitely be keeping my eyes open for the perfect fur vest to add to my closet. After attending this event I am so looking forward to doing some much needed shopping, my wardrobe could use a little sprucing up!

Bare Minerals Ready Shadow: The Truth

As promised in my previous post, I wanted to showcase a quick eye look created with my Bare Minerals Ready Shadow 4.0 quad in 'The Truth'.

It took me all of 5 minutes to create this look, and I was right out the door! Thats how easy these shadows were to use. It's perfect for daytime but can be smoked out for a night on the town with just a little more added 'Apropos' in the crease or just on the lid in general.

New Bare Minerals Ready Solid Shadows

Hey guys! Bare Minerals is launching their brand new 'Ready' solid 2.0 duo ($20) and 4.0 quad ($30) shadows tomorrow and I am so excited! The shadows are oh so pretty, very pigmented, super blendable, and are created using an innovative and new cold-pressed method featuring a SeaNutritive Mineral Complex (a nutrient-rich complex made of algae and seaweed). And are still made without parabens, synthetic chemicals, binders, or fillers.

Now doesn't that sound refreshing? It's like a mini-facial for your eye lids!

I'm most looking forward to the solid form of the shadows because it'll definitely make for less mess during application, in comparison to the lose minerals Bare Minerals solely carried in the past. This will be much easier for me to carry in my make-up bag and I won't have to worry about a jar of minerals being spilled everywhere. *What a relief* because I am always dropping things, lol. I love the original lose mineral shadows and still plan on using them, but I can't tell you how many times I've spilled an entire jar of shadow on the floor.

In this post I will be showcasing some swatches from one of the brand new 4.0 quads named, "The Truth". When I have more time real soon I will do a post showcasing an actual eye-look with this quad but for now this will have to do- Enjoy! Hot Pink & Turquoise Toes

With fall in full-effect, I decided to bid farewell to the sun and blue skies by wearing a pair of my open toed wedges, which I found for $4.99 at my local thrift store. I figured I better wear them while I still can because I can tell that the 24/7 Seattle rain is a brewing right around the corner. And when it rains in Seattle, it pours. Just like in the movies.

I thought I'd paint my toes something bright, which seemed fitting. Why not welcome in the doom & gloom with a bang? A hot pink and turquoise one!

All complaining aside, I'm actually really excited for the change in weather because I love, love, love winter and snow and most importantly snowboarding- I cannot wait to go snowboarding, I've been looking forward to it since last winter. Theres just something special about having everything around you blanketed in a crisp white sheet of snow. It puts my world at ease.

The polish's I used, from left-to-right, were OPI's 'Turquoise Shatter' and SinfulColors 'Wet Glaze', & 'Pink.' This is one of my favorite Shatter's from OPI because it's shimmery and not matte in comparison to others I have tried. In my opinion, the shimmery ones are prettier. What do you think?

My Personal Stress Reliever

First off I want to thank all of my followers for following my blog! It means the world to me. Every time I see that I've gained a new follower I get super excited, so thank you, thank you, thank you! x100

I wanted to share with you guys what I like to do when I'm having a bad day, which is anything artsy. I use the term art loosely because it depends on exactly what type of mood I'm in, but I like to draw, sketch, color, paint... you name it. If it has anything to do with slapping something down on a blank canvas, I'm all over it.

Trip down memory lane: Growing up I had an entire coat closet at my Grandma's house that we turned into an art closet. It was filled full of supplies galore. Oh how I wish I had a closet or room like that in my house now- maybe I should make one? And then across from my "art closet", in what was the laundry closet, was my "art gallery" where I displayed all of my latest creations. My Grams was the best!

So now when I'm having a bad day I grab some colored pencils and go to town. It's my cure-all. 20 minutes of drawing and 'remind me what was bothering me again??'. If you havn't done so already, I suggest you give it a try.

Below are some cosmetic face charts I took home and colored. In the past I've used actual make-up to fill them in, but it doesn't always turn out as neat and tidy as I'd like so colored pencils will do just fine for me! It's also a great way to try out different looks before doing them on an actual client, or on yourself.

Review: Hot Comb Eyelash Curler

Product Description: Bronze Award winning tool at the Invention Convention. A portable, single AA battery-operated curler, "Hot Brush Eyelash Curler" gives your lashes unbeatable curl for hours on end with its specially heated coil. The heated curler will not singe the lashes. It also comes with a special guard to prevent the heated coil from touching the skin.

My Description: I ordered this lash curler to assist in preparation for my LashDip clients. Everyones lashes are different; some are curly, some are straight, and for those of us who aren't blessed with naturally perfect lashes, this lash comb helps greatly in curling the lashes upwards with no indentations that can sometimes become apparent when using your regular drugstore eyelash curler.

** Don't get me wrong, I love my cheapie Revlon lash curler for everyday-quick use, but when LashDipping you want no indentations in the slightest done to the lashes otherwise it compromises the integrity of the application and service, this is why the hot comb comes in handy!

The curler is beyond easy to use, there is an on/off switch built into the handle of the comb. It only takes a couple of seconds to initially warm up and when its ready the tip of the comb changes from red to white. As far as warming up goes, it warms up just enough so as not to experience any type of discomfort to the eye area. There really is no way it can burn you (unless you really, really tried i.e. holding it directly on your eyeball for like 10 minutes, but who would do that? lol).

After using this curler on myself I could feel the tips of my lashes touching the tops my eyelids, and that was without any mascara!

Pros: Affordable (under $20), simple, curls lashes with no indentations, heats to the perfect temperature every time, small size allows for greater mobility, and only uses one AA battery to operate.

Cons: None.

I could've done without Katy Perry's crazy cheese block looking head-topper- redic - but I absolutely loved her hair at this years 2011 VMA's. I'm obsessed. If I could get away with not being fired at my job and dyeing my hair cotton candy colored, I think I'd totally do it. But because I cant, I've been checking out wigs on-line and Etsy seems to have some really cool ones. And halloween is right around the corner, so it could stand as dual-purpose right?, ha.

Photo above: This is LC from the Hill's. Really different look for her as she usually seems so conservative but I think this is amazing. It looks so good with her blonde hair, but I'm not so sure if it would pull off the same effect on much darker hair like mine. It reminds me of colorful/reverse ombre' hair. Love.

Review: Sephora Classic Mineral Powder Brush #45

I recently picked up Sephora's Classic Mineral Powder Brush #45 as a recommendation from a friend and because it reminded me of my Handi Buki from Bare Escentuals that I use now when applying my mineral foundation. I was excited because it's a synthetic bristle vs. the Handi Buki's natural bristles. In my opinion, synthetic usually tends to last a bit longer and feels softer on the skin. In addition to this Sephora states that,

"This brush's bristles have undergone a hypoallergenic, nontoxic, antibacterial treatment that helps to keep skin healthy and suits all skin types, even the most sensitive."

Sounds pretty perf right? I thought so too until I got home and gently ran my fingers through the bristles, thats when this happened...

The bristles shed like crazy. I havn't made up my mind on whether I'll be exchanging or straight returning this product. In its defense, it's had rave award winning reviews and my friend says that hers does not have this same shedding problem, so its possible that I was the unlucky one who picked out the runt of the litter.

Anyone who has experience with this particular brush, your comments would be greatly appreciated!

And as a side note and for future brush buying: Make sure to run your fingers back and fourth on the bristles of a brush just to make sure no visible or excessive shedding will be happening in the future! It'll save you time and money, trust me.

Business Cards

My super cute business cards just arrived in the mail today!! I ordered them just last week off of Moo.com, which by the way I'd highly recommend. They have literally- everything and at really affordable prices too. I wanted to keep it simple but cute at the same time so I decided on the 'mini-text' cards which I am very pleased with!

Aren't they cute? Like business cards can really be "cute", ha, I'm such a girl. Sometimes though, the best things do come in small packages :)
