SharePoint 2010 Migration

Is time, SharePoint 2013 has been released and you are now thinking about your SharePoint 2010 Migration. How do you go about starting your project?

When considering a SharePoint 2010 Migration, this tool allows you to migrate content from previous versions of SharePoint including 2003 and 2007. If you are one of the few business still using 2003 there is no need to move to 2007 first, this tool actually allows you to skip versions making it possible to do your SharePoint 2010 Migration without the expense of moving to 2007 first.

Wedding Photography at Cantley House Hotel – Wokingham

Suzy and Adam chose HutchisonHaines Photography to photograph their wedding on the 22nd Feb, 2013 at Cantley House Hotel in Wokingham Berkshire. It was a chilly day, but the sun was out and it remained dry. The day started with Adam and his best men getting ready, they were great fun to work with and really enjoyed themselves. Once they were ready I headed over to Suzy who was already at Cantley House Hotel, I made it in time to get some photos with the make-up artist and hairdresser before they left.

With everyone now ready the guests arrived at the hotel for the ceremony, it was quite a dark room with light only entering from one source, a window behind the registrar, this was both good and bad, bad because there was low light which made getting the best quality shots was hard, good in that I could get some really nicely lit photos of the bride and groom.

The venue itself was self contained, the ceremony, breakfast and party were all in different rooms but all on the same site, which gave the day a nice flow.

Cheltenham Festival Photos

Cheltenham Festival 2013 had its fair share of moments this year, from Sprinter Sacre running home a fantastic race for the Queen Mother Champion Chase, to the horrific back injury of JT McManara and of course there was the moment everyone was waiting for Bobs Worth winning the Gold Cup ridden in true style by Barry Geraghty. I was one of the 150 photographers present for the festival and was able to witness some of the fantastic moments and present to you my Cheltenham Festival Photos Highlights below. I have tried to put together a collection of action from all the days as well as some of the scenes. There were a few celebrity attendees which I have also captured and included in my Cheltenham Festival Photos Highlights. Enjoy

The Cheltenham Festival Trials are the warm up act for the infamous Cheltenham Festival. You will usually see a winner today on the winners podium in March as well, and that’s why this is a popular one day event on the racing calendar. For me, this was my first effort photographing horses let alone photographing horse racing, and like many others at Cheltenham on this day I was warming up for the Cheltenham Festival along with the all the others here including Jockey’s, Owner’s, Trainers, Horses, and other media such as Chanel 4 who were showing off their recent acquisition Claire balding, in to replace John McCririck.  There were a lot of race goers here which made the races all the more exciting. The atmosphere built up as I stood on the finish and the leaders ran in, men, women, and children were one, jumping, cheering and screaming, you could see how much the horses (and the money) mean to people. Below are a few of the shots I took on the day, I hope you enjoy them.

17th November – QBE International England v Australia at Twickenham.

I was at Twickenham taking photos for the curtain raiser of the match, the Tag2Twickenham tournament.  The tag rugby finalists get to play some games at Twickenham. I was there with friend and fellow photographer Lee Crabb where we were to follow the two teams as they had their day at the stadium, this involved going to the museum, and getting a team talk from England Coach Stuart Lancaster.

Once the tag was finished I was able to take a place on the east stand sideline and photograph the 1st half of the England V australia game. I hope you enjoy the selection.

I have had a pretty busy summer photographing running and cycling events. I now have several companies offering me shoots on weekends in this area of sorts photography, for which I am always grateful. This has given me the opportunity to do something different from my usual stadium or professional sports person work. Instead I am photographing regular people, enthusiastic sportsmen and the occasional pro. But the difference is in the way these runners and cyclists respond to the camera.

I find that when sitting down at the side of a bend in a road with a high-vis jacket photographing running and cycling events, the racers go past, some will notice you and some won’t, some of the ones who do will perform for the camera by doing Mo Farah or Usain Bolt’s signature poses which is fun, and some will just wave, but the really fun ones, are the people who dress up in wacky and wild costumes.

Anyway back to photographing running and cycling events, why do I like working these types of events? well for me it’s about finding the right shot. The thing is, people will only buy a photograph if it’s different to what they have seen before or already have at home, and it can be difficult to make it different if the subject is a road running event. You’ll see road, trees, a pavement, and maybe a building, it isn’t that interesting.

The way to make the photographs interesting and have appeal is to look closer at the background as well as the context of the image. What I’m talking about here is using the image to show the person is in a race, to achieve this there’s a couple of things we need in the shot. Other racers, these should be in the background and out of focus. A bend in the route, this adds drama to the image, it tells a story of where the runner has come from. It is an essential for a well compose shot.

Another technique which can be used is panning, it only really works well with faster subjects like cars and bikes. Panning is a simple technique (if you have a steady hand) just lower the shutter speed, you may need to up the ISO to compensate for the loss of available light.

Gig on the Green

Its June 2012 and that means its time once again for Gig on the Green 2012 in Yateley, and this year it got a whole lot better. This was my second time photographing the Gig on the Green and this year I changed my approach as last year I took too many photographs of each artist – there are only so many variations of the same photo you can take, this year I took more time over selecting when to take a photo and being more creative with my approach.

With performances from the Voice UK’s John James Newman and Britain’s got Talent Semi Finalist Lauren Thalia, the fans came in their thousands, there was a visable difference in numbers from last year which just goes to show how popular the festival was. There were many other performers, and another Y Factor competition alongside last years headliner Alexa Goddard who sang one of her new tracks, and also included some covers of all time favorites like Whitney Houston’s ‘Dance With Somebody’. The organisers dropped last years comedy from the line up adding more room for musicians which judging by the crowds gathering for the music was a good choice.

Wedding Photography at Eynsham Hall

Gina and Mark selected me to be their wedding photographer at Eynsham Hall and I was absolutely delighted as the venue is superb, and it is the first time I have been asked to do the wedding photography at Eynsham Hall. There are some really fantastic romantic locations for taking photographs. We made a pre-wedding visit to the venue a month ahead of the wedding to scout out some possible locations for photographs, and I’m glad I did, it gave me a good chance to get to know the couple and give them the chance to know me a little.

The wedding was planned with a vintage theme in mind, and it was brilliant; I have seen a few vintage themed weddings and I must say this was the best I have seen, and at no surprise either, Gina really does the vintage style well. The dress was something completely different, and I had not seen anything quite like it before. You will see in the photographs how beautiful it was.

The wedding ceremony was held outside and the sun shone for the occasion, the weather held out for the group photos by the fountain, and for the guests to enjoy a few drinks outside. As the wedding breakfast came to a close the weather took a turn for the worse and rather than electrocute myself or the couple we had to make do with taking the posed bride and groom photos inside the hall, the results came out well and I am happy with what we achieved taking into account the weather conditions.

Wedding Photography at Alexandra House, Swindon

I was at Alexandra House in Swindon to photograph the wedding between Helen and Andy. It was a cold day so rather than do the group shots outside I took them indoors, on a sofa in front of a set of curtains. I think they worked really well, not something you normally see, the look very traditional and have a real family feeling to them

The theme for the day was red, blue and white. So the bridesmaids wore navy dresses with red shoes, while the bride obviously wore white, and not so obviously wore red shoes. I must admit, when I first heard her shoes were going to be red I wasn’t too sure how that would work, but let me tell you the whole wedding was stunning. The finer details that go into weddings were really brought out in this celebration.
