To celebrate this huge accomplishment, the station will be launching their “15 Days in June” promotion that spotlights 15 incredible Minnesota artists who define the “Minneapolis Sound” and their 1st Annual 2012 “Minneapolis Sound” Artist of the Year Award.

 The 1st Annual 2012 “Minneapolis Sound” Award will honor the best National and International artists whose video truly captures the essence of “The Minneapolis Sound”, the winner will take home a cushy social media and radio package valued at $10,000 to help push their career.

“The Twin Cities have always been a hot bed for creative music and people around the world love the music we make. Even though we are the new kids on the block, we want everyone who is in love with the “Minneapolis Sound” to celebrate with us,” explains Rodney Smith, Magic 1530’s station manager.

Although the year has been full of highs and low, Magic 1530 has enjoyed many great milestones including moving to a brand new location (relocating from Chaska to Golden Valley), having national recording artists such as Grammy Award winning recording group Mint Condition through the door, and in April 2012, international radio personality Michael Baisden was in studio live. Most recently the station is forging great partnerships with major corporations and media outlets such as Allied Movie Company and Curves Fitness Centers to help expand their community outreach.

“We started small for a reason, and we are on track to launch many initiatives in the Minneapolis market and abroad in 2013. We will be launching a brand new website the end of June to coincide with the launch of all new social media pages, we are even working on our own application for mobile users,” says Smith.

After a first Play fragrance composed in 2007 by Aurélien Guichard, the Japanese brand is issuing a new trio by Antoine Maisondieu that expresses the line’s easy-to-wear, easy-to-love aesthetics as well as its name: these “three brothers” are truly playful.

About Amarachi

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Amarachi spent the first years of her life in Nigeria before moving to United States in 1996 and finally settling in Houston in 1998. Unfamiliar with the American culture Amarachi remained quiet and reserved. Keeping herself occupied by reading and participating in sports while in school she began excelling in track & fieldgaining the attention of many colleges and universities. With a life long dream to compete in the Olympics, a career in track & field seemed inevitablebut Amarachi also enjoyed singing and songwriting.

She recalls, ”I was in junior high when I joined a choir. It was then I knew I wanted to go further with a singing career. I went through high school knowing what I wanted to do but really couldn’t do it because my parents strongly encouraged; go to school, graduate and get a nine to five.”

After graduating high school at the early age of 16, Amarachi spent two years in college on track scholarships before eventually dropping out to pursue a music career but there was a detour along the way. And as fate would have it, modeling would take precedent over her music career as fashion designers Spasso, TikiGlam, Tropicouture amongst several recruited the 5’8 slim framed beauty for runway shows and to be the face of their brand. She also credits her confidence as an artist from working in NYC’s competition modeling market. After a brief stay in New York, Amarachi returned to Houston and started on yet another journey.

She begin writing material and performing live acoustic sets before finally stepping into the studio with the renowned production duo The Bama Boyz and Joshua Coleman to record her debut project.Slated for release Summer 2012 the debut EP will feature highly energetic tracks aback Amarachi’s rhythmic vocals showcasing her ability as a songstress with a few melodic tunes in between. “This EP is about me and the different takes of me and what I’ve been through and what I’ve seen others go through,” she says.While her music boasts originality she’s often compared to and categorized with Amy Winehouse and Toni Braxton.

Festivalgoers from 2011 will remember Busta’s show stopping cameo with long time collaborator and friend, Q-Tip. The Flatbush MC was part of Q-Tip’s “Friends” and helped launched The Festival’s ” …..and Friends” concept where headliners are carefully chosen to not only reflect the mission of the Festival but also to be honored by it.

Brooklyn Bodega wanted to work with Busta as his 20+ year career is as rare in Hip-Hop as is his signature style. From forming Leaders Of the New School to collaborating with Chris Brown, Busta has set the standard for creating a fortified and powerful career that has helped Hip-Hop grow and evolve from the streets of New York to the most powerful voice on the planet.

Brooklyn’s own Trevor Smith has endured multiple deals, group break ups and the ever fickle admiration of fans and critics. No other artist has been able to touch so many spheres in Hip-Hop. From working and signing with Dr. Dre, mentoring artists like Roc Marciano to now joining foster with Lil Wayne’s YMCMB roster.

While Busta is know for his hits like “Whoo Ha“, “Put Your Hands When My Eyes Can See“, “Another Case of the PTA” with Leaders Of The New School, and a host of others, he also worked extensively with the likes of the late James “J Dilla” Yancey, The Bomb Squad (Public Enemy, Ice Cube) and The Large Professor. To other cats in the office he is the muse of Hype Williams and the definitive artist of the video era. To younger fans he is the guy who killed it on the Chris Brown song. To purists he was Dilla’s biggest supporter after Q-Tip. Just as Q-Tip was in 2011, Busta is the embodiment of what Brooklyn Bodega and The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival is all about. Diversity, inspiration, longevity all fueled by an undeniable love for the music and culture. Just as he did with Q-Tip in 2011, BHF Executive Director, Wes Jackson will be working with Busta and his team to curate a list of “Friends” who will help celebrate Busta’s career and impact.

Moreover, Busta Rhymes’ career will serve as the inspiration for much of BHF’12 week. Events from Tuesday’s Bodega Education Initiative (BEI) to Thursday’s Salute The DJ and Friday’s Dummy Clap Film Festival will reflect the vitamin fortified career of Busta Rhymes.

The Bodega Agency, Brooklyn Bodega’s marketing firm who handles marketing and business development for the Festival, is also working to create a cadre of unique content to support this year’s inspiration. In the pipeline is a Busta Rhymes documentary, an exclusive mixtape and a webisode series.

Dates for the 8th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival are July 9th-14th, 2012.
