Dear Friends,

Sincere apologies for not been able to keep in touch with you all for a long time now. Just came back to say Hi to all my friends.

Off late, been very busy with my work and personal engagements, guys……….don’t get ideas not settling down with someone, ( u see abhi meri umar hi kya hai J).

But needless to say I miss you all a lot, don’t know why but kind of having a guilt feeling for staying away from blogging for soooooo long first time ever.

Will be back soon to be with you all, till then stay good and have lots and lots of fun.

Flying Without Wings

'Generating new species: flying without wings' is the most heard jingle now a days. Aviation industry is booming. Colleges for Hospitality Management are growing like Mushroom. But, what about another bird of same species, which are rarely found in the Sky.

Yes, I am talking about Pilots.

We have shortage of them and now govt is regulating norms, according to which the rest time for pilots have to be increased matching the standard norm of World.

Quoting "Pilot fatigue can be a killer - some of the worst air crashes have taken place on account of it".

But aviation industry resist to it on account of two factors: one, it will have to recruit more pilots, which means increased expenditure. Secondly, there is a dearth of experienced commanders in the market.

Again airlines are planning to buy more aircrafts which means they need more pilots and the service hour of them will also increase as demand of pilots is much them its supply.

Just wondering, Govt is taking lot more stress on making rules regarding the services of airlines and giving licenses to many new players. But where is he going to put them all. Land congestion and air traffic is increasing. All the aircrafts have to wait at least for half an hour before take-off and landing.

Why Govt is not thinking about that, instead of giving entry to new player why it is not making the existing one getting better.

Feel pity...ought to be.

Why an airline would do such a thing?

Guy is paying money? Yes. It increases load factor of airline? Yes. Then why?

I will tell you why?

I was there in Chennai when this incident happened. I am an airline staffer and I saw it all. To cut the story short, I will tell you what happened. When this guy was refused boarding because Sahara guys couldn't understand head-n-tail of what he was saying. HE STARTED ROLLING OVER FLOOR. Yes, "rolling over floor", just like a kid, who was just denied a lolly pop.

Suppose, if you, yourself has denied boarding by an airline, for what-so-ever excuse, would you starting rolling over floor? Imagine yourself rolling over floor. Do you think an adult guy rolling over floor qualifies, entering into a civilized social place (forget about aircraft, which requires much controlled discipline while flying). Would you allow such a guy enter your house.

It generates pity, that a handicapped person, denied boarding, just because he is handicap. Believe in an entire day we handle 2-3 wheelchair passenger almost every flight.

BUT SUCH A GUY ALONE WITHOUT ATTENDENT WHO START ROLLING OVER FLOOR; sorry a strict NO ENTRY FOR HIM. What if start doing same on flight.

The big hyppocracy on part of Media and NGOs is that they only feel pity for handicaped people in airlines, and not in railways where almost 364 times more passengers travel daily than the numbers of pax travel with all domestic airlines annually in airlines.

There has been lot of rumors & Median speculation that Spicejet is going to market for funds.

Though we have all read in News Papers and even today in Economic Times that nothing is happening and they are well funded to move ahead & even planning to go international in 2008.

My Concern, Rumors might or might not be good for this industry but its certainly not good for the employees working there.

This matter is so serious that Ajay Singh and Capt. Gopination has written mail to their respective forces to stay focused and not get perturbed by this rumors.

So my friends, who all are working at SpiceJet stay glued to your organization, you guys are in safe hands.

Dear Friends,

First thing First, Once again I would like to thank you all from bottom of my heart, but by way why this phrase “bottom of my heart”, OK I do it whole heartedly. Now sounds better,for supporting & accepting me.

Well, This blog is to share few things.

As a kiddo I dreamt of being a pilot, then reality struck hard and changed my priorities to Air Hostess, but then that was not my destiny again.

I was good academically but not beautically, reason given for not selecting that they have to double the size of aisle, for me to walk through. Ha ha ha, just kidding, hey guys me not that fatso

Yes, I really love talking about Airlines, reason my passion for it & nothing else. I feel this is one place I have of my own where in I can share what is happening in this industry and may be few of us can get some benefit out if it…………….

What we all anticipated has come true, Air Deccan has increased their price tag by Rs. 500/-. Hope this increase will give all the commuters something better to look forward from them.

I totally agree with you guys their service level has gone down and going further down day by day.

Just a Thought, does these guys have some SLA’s ( Service Level Agreement ) or not. I’m sure being such a large organization they must have & If they have who is monitoring them or verifying it.

On the contrary i have one more news to share, most of the these domestic airlines are following the foot steps of Jet & IA as far as flying international is concerned. To me its seems to be a good sign for them & US.

Fly Abroad means:
More Income –More Expansion
More Expansion – Better Services

Low Cost Flying in India - Fancy or Fantasy?

Power of cheap flying is soon going to change its meaning in this country, With the acquisition of Air Deccan by Mr.Mallaya.

There was a news around the corner that Kingfisher has bought 26% stake of Air Deccan. Frankly speaking, I'm little uncomfortable looking at Capt. Gopinath and Mallaya's union...

One believe in Luxury and style & another's belief is out and out Economy, at the cost of anything to everything ( Services best known to all of us)

Does that mean that the two different personalities will change the FACE of Low cost Airlines ?

Does that mean Air Deccan will revamp their services and follow the foot steps of Kingfisher ?

To me,there are only two major Players as low cost airlines " Air Deccan and Spice Jet." Does that mean Other Airlines do change its strategies and forget about the Common Man ?

So many more questions wandering in my mind which makes me feel...that the ERA of Low Cost Airlines is beginning to end now ?

INDIA’s PRIDE – TAJ MAHAL

Hey Guys !

Day before Yesterday, I was watching News at CNN-IBN around 10:00 PM or so, they was a debate going on why we all not been able to spread the news that people MUST vote for bring TAJ in 7 Wonders of the World list.

To my surprise only 2% of the Indian Population knows about something like this being done :(.

I immediately voted 'TAJ' by sending sms to 4567.

DEAR FRIENDS, Let's join hands again and pass on this information to maximum people around.

There are two ways to VOTE:

We are not realizing, millions of people earn their bread and butter only from TAJ MAHAL. I'm really disappointed the way our Government is promoting this, time is running out, results will be out on 7th July.

I have some useful information to share with you all, I have a friend who happens to be working with SpiceJet airlines. He had something very interesting facts to reveal. If we go by the books, there is a myth till date that travel agents can get you better fares then going direct to the airlines. Wrong !

Here are some Hard but really soft to our pocket facts:

1) Anytime you buy the ticket from the Internet, let’s say from www.SpiceJet.com at any given point of time you will get Rs. 50/- less. Sound weird but its true.

2) If you guys can manage to fly on Tuesday / Wednesday & Thursdays, you will get much better rates then rest of the days.

3) Travel agents or travel portals give their phone numbers and email ids, while doing booking for you. In case of flight delay or cancellations the information parted by airlines via phone numbers on ticket itinerary, will not come to you. You may face a no-show.

4) You will be the first one to know the new offers / discounts / promotions / deals with the airlines even before they go to the print media, only when your own email id or phone number is there with airline for your previous travel. As shared by my friend they send the mailers to all the registered users (at least 24 hours in advance) as loyalty program for their frequent fliers.

5) There are travel portals charging high cancellation fee than airlines.

6) The promotional fares promoted by airlines are not allowed through travel portals.

7) Travel portals at times charge full fare for infants.

Note: All of you pls spread these findings for betterment of Indian fliers.

Currently Spice Jet is offering Ticket Rs. 99/- till May -07

Thanks for the overwhelming response & affection I got so far, My friend is serious about this & have met his neighbors over dinner (which he organized at his place) to discuss the modalities further. Hope, he makes is good this time. But what ever little I have known him, he is surely gonna make it, this time.

I have conveyed him the thoughts shared by you all. He was quite touched with the idea of spending Quality Time with them. He is now thinking of organizing a Lunch get together with them. The old age home he is starting to begin with has 60 people approx.

Being himself from the Service Industry, he is very much confident of making this a great success, with few games, activities and simple lunch.

His fellow colleagues are in full support with him in all aspects. His food vendor has agreed to help him with Lunch on cost basis. Rest of the activities they will work out themselves.

Further, he has asked me to convey to all, that don’t feel that you guys have not contributed, U ALL SURELY HAVE, direction is equally important to achieve an aim. Otherwise, results are best known to all of us in most of the cases.

SO, SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL FROM HIS SIDE TO MOTIVATE HIM.

I went for a Party last weekend at my friend’s place, we all sat and chatted till past mid night sharing jokes, lighter moments & pulling each others.

Somewhere, out of the Blue, Arun who was high emotionally and alcoholically started the topic of Charity. I’m sharing you the jist of our 4 hrs discussions what we had:

After lot of brain storming we decided to help only Old age people, since consensus was with that.

So many options came out during the discussions. But to Arun, the logical and more practical one was helping them with clothes.

Hunt of thoughts begin, Finally decided to request known and acquaintances staying around to give their clothes which are not worn out & in absolute good condition but they are not using or plan to discard soon.

Next Step, Arun’s Mother is part of the “Lioness Club” who already are doing lot of social work specially for kids and old age people, she will take the stuff to the old age home and have us help them distribute the clothes.

But there were few in the groups who were from different school of thoughts, they say this won’t work, and this would be a one time affair if at all we put this in practice since we have our own lives and won’t be able to do on a regular basis. Rather, we should have a tie up with a NGO to make this a success.

Though, he is little confused or apprehensive but surely confident to start this without taking help of any organization, since he is not looking for any financial gains or recognisation.

Here is the final Ground Rules he made to make this work

Quarterly Process
Will start our locality only ( got around 2000 families)
Will Go door to door over weekends (2 hrs) to request them to give clothes
No Money will be taken, since he doesn’t want to be accountable or misunderstood by anyone.
Since he stays in Service Officers sector, will request retired officers & friends to help make this cause more effective.

How does this sound to you guys? All I want real suggestions to help Arun make this more effective.

Biggest Weakness / Biggest Strength

How many of us has ever thought or heard that someone’s biggest weakness is its BIGGEST strength now. Yes, this is true when we talk about CHINA.

About a decade back, even before that they were struggling to handle the population problem which has created havoc for them.

But today, I don’t have to say much we all know what they are and where they are heading.

The day is not far off when they will be calling the shots around the GLOBE.

Why, a person like me is talking about this, yesterday I was sitting with my friend who happens to be in Administration for a software company. He needed to buy pedestals fans . He went around in Bhagirath Palace (old Delhi) to get a better deal.

Since then he is feeling very low, to his surprise all the big brands are importing everything from China and selling it here by just putting their stickers on that.

This is not the end, irony begins if u pickup the same model, everything same made by the Indian company its expensive by 35 – 40%.

Want to write more and more about this but we all know by now that China has such deep penetration in our country that every second thing we buy surely be from China.

As we all know, Indians have the best brains in the world, its not me who says that the entire world knows and confirms that.

Even we have the manpower to back our strength, so what is stopping us…………….

He is still very upset and disheartened but he bought China made fans since he wanted to save company’s money.

As the days are progessing so does technologies. Everyday we came to know about something new. Im not from the IT background,and for me it seems to be quite interesting. Recently, i got a call from one Web Hosting Company which offer me to host a website on thier server.

My site is already hosted by some other company but i never thought that this catogory can also be so compititive. Frankly saying i never thought about this way. But that call make me think about certain issues like, spamming, web space, control panel, mail spaces and many other thing that you get along with all these.And many things i just heard about first time.

It seems like, how unaware i was about the things going at technology front. I ask for their website to go through the details and now the whole issue is handled by the IT department of the Company.

Yesterday,at lunch time of our office. Two of my colleagues were discussing about coming together from home to office as they stay near by and one of them is used to come by bus. So they just thought of sharing a car and petrol price as it wil be beneficial to both.

After listening thier conversation, i just gave a thought for it and think what other benefits we can have from such carpooling.

- Environment friendly; helps in reducing pollution.

- Traffic, another major problem of incresing number of cars, will get reduced.

- Save Money; will reduce our burden of over rising petrol rates.

- Social Interaction; will help in develpoing the same.

- Reduce Stress; as one of our major problem of travelling in those conjested buses will get solved.

Its all what a little bit I came to think about it.

What you think about the carpooling? Do you feel carpooling can really help in solving such problems? Are there any disadvantages also?

Stress is one of the consequences of conflict, so for eliminating stress, we should learn to manage conflict and resolve it in an effective mannar.

Hey friends, As I had mentioned in my last post that SpiceJet has launched new Sector Delhi to Varanasi and that’s only for Rs. 799/- .Now I can visit my home town more often and much faster without much hassles of getting train tickets etc.

I am very grateful to them.

But now the million dollar question is: Are these things gonna stay for Good or it’s just a temporary phase. If I am not wrong few other airlines also started their flights to small cities which later withdraw since they were not making enough profits? What u says guys?

Anyways, I'm going to make the best use of this till the time the tails stops wagging…

Wishes do come true and mine too got listened…
Now when I will talk of going home, I will not get jitters of how I will reach there but definitely of crowded bazaars, temples and of my sweet home whose open doors always welcoming me….

Yesterday, I heard a news that few days back SpiceJet, low cost, no frills airlines have launched its first low cost service to my home town i.e. to Varanasi….

I am so excited. This time I will reach my home comfortably and will enjoy my diwali, burn crackers and will have lots of fun.
10 full days I will enjoy all the dishes that my great mom used to prepare especially for me…

Thanks to SpiceJet a lot for making my home near to me. Now I don’t have to think twice while going to home.

The status of women in India has been subject to great many changes over the past few millennia. From a largely unknown status in ancient times through the low points of the Middle Ages and the Mughal empire, to the promotion of equal rights by Guru Nanak and the slow reform then the rigid rules of the colonial era to the mixed attitudes of the current era, the history of women in India has been eventful.

The women in India are still facing some discrimination in minor parts of the country especially in the rural communities and in some cultures but the trend are positive. The rights of women have been improving steadily for many 100's of years and now women face equality in many important fields of human life including the right to vote; to stand for government; in many job situations; in education; in the armed forces; in government and many commercial departments; in religious duties; etc. However, much work still needs to be done for the women to achieve complete equality.

The steady change in their position can be highlighted by looking at what has been achieved by women in the country:

* In 1966, Indira Gandhi became the first women leader of the country indicating that women had made strides in achieving some level of equality in government. However, sadly no other women has followed in her footsteps although her daughter-in-law, Sonia Gandhi won the recent elections and could have become the second female PM of the country.

* In 2006, the following two business women reached 1 billion dollar net-worth: Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw started one of India's first biotech companies, Biocon (otcbb: BCLTF). Lalita Gupte and Kalpana Morparia (both were the only businesswomen in India who made our list of the World's Most Powerful Women), run India's second-largest bank, ICICI Bank. So, a few women have reached the pinnacle in the business world. [1].

* In 1905, Mrs. Suzanne RD Tata became the first Indian woman to drive a car [2]

* In 1970, Kamaljit Sandhu became the first Indian woman to win a Gold in the Asian Games

* Smt. Anna Chandy, the First Indian Woman Judge of High Court and in 1989, Kumari Justice M. Fathima Beevi was made the first Indian woman judge of the Supreme Court. [3]

* Woman Pilots: In 1944, Harita Kaur Deol became the first Indian woman to perform a solo flight.
