Mark's based in London, now, working on a project called Good Guys Versus Bad Guys, which he hopes will move his fimmaking career up a couple of notches.

It's a fascinating endeavour since a large part of the dialogue will be in Polish while the other half will be in Doric, the North East's own dialect.

Scott is best known for starring alongside Patrick Wight in the 2009 hit film One Day Removals, directed by Aberdeen's own Mark Stirton.

Kim Templeton arranged for documentary filmmaker Anthony Baxter (You've Been Trumped) to give a presentation and Belmont-based film education officer Paul Foy showed a couple of trailers and announced plans for a regular film showing event.

And of course, there was the pitching opportunity and the boozing and networking, too.

He gave an excellent presentation about his experiences with the film, and was candid about the lack of support and finance from the film sector in the UK, including Scotland.

FCG is a film production and creative media hub based in the old Govan Town Hall, on the edge of Govan and Glasgow's Digital Media Quarter.

Sarah Potter, Film City administrator, tookme on the tour, through a warren of coridors and ending up in the old theatre space.

I visited the offices of FCG in March 2012 and administrator Sarah Potter gave me a tour, which I recorded. Then when I got back home I cut it into 5 episodes.

When I met Nicci and Dave at the Aberdeen Actors and Directors networking evening at the start of March, they told me about their current production.

They say it's a story about drug addiction and how it can destroy a person's life. There was lots of chat about realism and graphic portrayal...so I think the audience will find it a difficult watch.

A timetable for the production? All I could get out of them was that they're planning to have it completed by September when Nicci is leaving the country (there's a filmmaking story there...hopefully he'll give an IADF podcast interview on that nearer the time).

I was speaking to someone in the downstairs bar at the Belmont, when she strode up and stood there...beside us...waiting.

In my experience, that's the best way to do it.

She's got interesting things to say about the difference between the acting/filmmaking scenes in Glasgow and Aberdeen, eg. groups don't seem to mix so much here in the North East.

I think most people would agree that's true - never mind the reason why.

That's why Kim Temnpleton and Jamie Rodden's monthly networking event is important.

The Hansel of Film 2012 is a great opportunityfor filmmakers from the North East to showcase their moviemaking prowess with a film of 5mins or less.

Kathy's the first contributor to join the I Am Do Filmmaker podcast by Skype, and you may find the audio quality a little ropey, but it's all about content, isn't it.(I'll try tweaking my Skype settings and using a headset to see if I can improve things for the next Skype interview.)
