Nicki Minaj is coming to Manila for a concert?

In her official Twitter account, the “Super Bass” singer replied that a Philippine concert is happening after a fan tweeted if she is contemplating on a possible concert here.

The singer replied that the concert will be this summer.  Since summer in the Philippines is almost over already, we assume she is pertaining to the summer season in the US which spans between June to August.   Although, the exact date, venue and other details for this concert have not been released yet, or have not been confirmed by its producers, the singer’s tweet delighted the fans.

David Cook staged a back-to-back concert with former ‘Idol’ runner-up David Archuleta 3 years ago (May 16, 2009)  in a concert titled David to David.  Tickets to the concert were sold out early.  An overwhelming 50,000 crowd filled the Smart-Araneta Coliseum to witness this rare music event.

According to PNP Spokesman, Senior Superintendent Generoso R Cerbo Jr, the PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM) is conducting another round of Lateral Entry screening process to fill authorized vacancies for technical service officers in the National Support Units this year.

Last Sunday, May 20, the 5th set of nominees for this season were named. All of them were all boys. Two of them, Kit Thompson and Yves Flores, were nominated via the usual nomination process. Alec Dungo, meanwhile, was nominated due to a serious violation. Dungo joined the list of nominated housemate the day after the nomination night.

Only 2 housemates were chosen by the people to remain in the house, and the housemate who got the least number of votes had to leave the house.

Popular men’s magazine FHM has released its partial and unofficial list for their 100 Sexiest Women on May 25, 2012.  The magazine has only released the unofficial top 10 as of May 25.

The band ranked 6th in Amazon.co.uk’s Best Selling Artists of the Decade in 2009.  Their music was recognized worldwide when their song “Chasing Cars” was featured in an emotional scene in Grey’s Anatomy.

Snow Patrol will also perform in Singapore on August 6, 2012 at the Canning Park.  Tickets will start selling on Wednesday, 30th May via www.sistic.com.sg. 

After their concert in Manila on Aug 8, the band will go straight to South Korea for the Pentaport Rock Festival at the Incheon Dreampark on August 11, 2012.  The tickets for this event will go on Sale Thursday 24th May at 4pm (KST) via ticket.interpark.com.

It has been an emotional goodbye for Anne Curtis and her co-hosts. Even the madlang people were tearful when Curtis announced that she will not be seen in the show for a month. She tried to hold back her tears but was unsuccessful at it when it became too overwhelming for her to contain. She gave in to them when her co-hosts, such as Vhong Navarro and Vice Ganda, gave her their messages and support. They assured her of their support in this new journey.

Curtis, meanwhile, was very thankful for the understanding that her home network ABS-CBN has given her. She was also grateful for the support that her Showtime family has shown her, especially her co-hosts, staffs, and even the madlang people.

“Meron po akong gagawin, it’s a very big step for me. It’s something na gusto kong ipursue sa dreams ko. Basta bagong challenge ito sa life ko at para rin naman po sa inyong lahat at sa mga followers ko,” Curtis said.

Curtis promised her fans and madlang people that it will only be for a month. She will be back after a month to continue working with her teleserye Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw with Kris Aquino and Robin Padilla. She will be back also for her No Other Concert National Tour which will stage next at General Santos City.

In the May 23 episode, Curtis did not disclose the details as to why she was leaving the show. However, reports say that she will be in a Hollywood film, Blood Ransom. This is a crime thriller produced by Tectonic Films and directed by Fil-am Francis de la Torre. Curtis will be the only Filipino in this film.

There is an alarming rise of people who contracted human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) said Department of Health (DOH). As of March 2012, there are over 9,000 reported cases of HIV.

Rappler.com reports that there has been a 587% increase in the number of new cases of HIV in the Philippines from 2007 to 2011, according to Dr Genesis Samonte, chief of the HIV Surveillance Unit of the National Epidemiology Center (DOH-NEC).

Currently, a vaccine is being developed and is soon to be released that may prevent this continuing rise of cases.  According to the United Nation Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS ((UNAIDS), the vaccine called the RV 144 showed 31.2% efficacy in preventing the virus.  Although, the vaccine is modestly protective, UNAIDS and the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) are working hand-in-hand to see the impact of this vaccine in preventing HIV/AIDS.

A clinical trial regarding its efficacy will be conducted soon.
