I just flashed a new Rom on my Droid to maximize battery life. Actually it's a newer ROM as the last one crashed so I had to re-wipe the data on my phone and install it. But I hate the theme that comes with it so I downloaded a GO Theme from the Droid Market to fit my preferences. *snort* Man, the functionality I want extra plus battery life!--oh, not to mention I can now use my 4G connection from my phone as a hotspot for my computer.
UH--A-Cubed! Translation: Awesome to the third power! *snort*

I totally "NERD"-ed out to customize my smart phone. I did. And you may not have gone to this extreme of Nerd-ism, but daym if you haven't found yourself doing the same thing! I used to be cool man!

Are you MARRIED to your iTOUCH instead of TOUCHING MARY'S D's? What happened? Ladies, why are you downloading Apps instead of going down on laps?

My mom e-mails me now. SO WEIRD. My dad has three email accounts. Even my pre-historic uncle got FIOS and Cable! I care about all my fonts. My friends invite me three different ways to parties. Evite, Facebook Invite, and regular email. I wonder when I will get a wedding invite by email? Wait! Already done! Thanks Matt Coniglio! You Nerd! You buy devices to connect your TV, to your phone, to your computer. Where am I going with this? Maybe I'll GPS it from my phone!

Don't get me wrong. I mean I am impressed by how technologically savvy I, and many of the people around me, have become. I am actually proud of the ability to learn new things and apply them to technology. I never thought of myself as a techno nerd. To survive in this social media-centric and digital world, the ability to customize your face, functionality, and overall digital existence relies on your ability to "Nerd Out."

But dammit people stay cool. Dance without a video game choreographing your moves. Sing without auto-tune. Play sports without fantasy or a joy stick. Talk to people face to face. On the thing you use to check your email, browse eBay, and take pictures...use it to make a phone call to someone old or new. We've "nerded" out in the sense of our digital reality, but what makes us human is investing in real reality. That's what makes us really cool.

You guys are probably like me. You love to watch people. I was waiting to go into a meeting and humans are just wild animals free to roam in the wild nature of society as we've built it. They are fascinating!

Our personalties are put together by so many life moments and experiences and have made us the adaptive creatures we are today. The only difference between each wild human animal is the things we percieve as impressionable.

For example Mr. Suit with No Socks and Dress Shoes, what happened to you that makes you draw a new line for formal wear at no socks? I vote long toenails.

And Ms. Tight ass jeans with, oh about 18 too many, stylish rips and tears while your fatness is oozing out these holes, what happened to you? Your legs look like they can't breath and are escaping a chain link fence to make it to the other side?

And finally, are you okay Mr. Dominique Wilkins Jersey at a bar or club? The nineties are over right? Maybe his dad is Dominique Wilkins but the guy is white so that's a hard one to explain Mrs. Wilkins!

I needed a happy meal. Actually its a Mighty kids meal because I've figured out the perfect Tapas style portion of my favorites at the Golden Arches. 6 piece nuggets mighty kids meal and add a double cheeseburger. Nuggets, fries, burger, drink...I've drowned my sorrows for losing to a Crappy Ass Cowboys Team for less than $6!
My Redskins are good and I haven't lost hope in the players. This game falls on the coaches. You can't risk the game on an all out blitz to stop one crucial play! You can't pull off the throttle on offense! But our players played hard and the play calling failed us.
Chin up skins fans. Dallas is a mess and they eeked one out on us. Battle lost, war still out there to be won. Moral of the story, finish your work and pay attention to the details. Just like I am as I key this Car with a Dallas star on it. No finger prints and do it on the passenger side so the driver doesn't see it till later.

So I posted on my Blogger and linked it to my Google+ asking if anyone wanted to Hangout to talk about a Facebook post on why there's no longer MySpace because a coworker on LinkedIn showed me on their YouTube Channel how to create an About.me page.

Ok, WTF? I also chat on AOL IM which is linked to my GCHAT which is linked to my GoogleTALK which syncs to my phone. I'd Tweet this, but I don't know how to within 140 characters and I am more familiar with Hash browns than Hashtags!

My digital social life is getting pretty nuts. Is yours? Are you feeling like you can't keep up with Posts? Tags? Invites? Pokes? Plus 1'ing? Friend-ing? Following? Circle-ing? If you are, suck it up. There's no way to avoid being connected these days. But how do you separate your personas? If you are the same person around your family, your coworkers, and your friends, good for you. But not me. I have different levels of comfortableness with each group. This leads me to think about how to categorize people in my networks.

So in typical Rakafella Style, that for me means how much skin I show when I'm drinking around each group. For Example: Co workers see little to no skin. Maybe a "buttoned-up shirt peek through." Fellas, you know what this is, it's the part near the boobies where you see an opening? Well for me, since I don't wear an undershirt all the time, that's all they would get. Family, tops they would get is a "raised t-shirt over the belly." It's the amount of skin you see when a t-shirt is too short. It peeks out during napping and reaching for glasses in the cupboard. Then there's friends. That's no holds barred. Depending on the alcohol, it could be NC-17. But that's what my friends sign up for! Actually, they probably don't. Sorry guys... Weddings! It's Manly!

I just went to two awesome weddings but the crazy thing is I was lucky enough to be able to go to both weddings on the same day! After the reception of the wedding I was in, I traveled three blocks away to my other close friend's wedding. Awesome luck right? I love both couples to death. Congrats to Gabe and Joanne and JC and Jan! You all are beautiful couples! Expect swinger invites from me and Michele soon! Are any of the guys BI?

But yes, I got to celebrate with all of my close friends on their special day. But even more important than that, it was a wedding! I love weddings! Period. End of story. Weddings are fun. Why do I like weddings?

Well, what is Rak about? Passion, Dancing, Partying, Food, Family, Friends, and Cameras. There's all that there! All the emotion from the ceremony and tradition always gets me. So what if I cry? You would cry too if you had a heart you over cynical bastard! Google that word...it's a good word. Free Drinks, hot chicks in dresses, men not in basketball shorts and a wife beater. Everyone looking their best. Then Dancing! Both vertically and horizontally for some...yeah!!

Speaking of Weddings, Happy Anniversary to my Wife of Four Years!! LOVE YOU SO MUCH!! Michele is the best. (I just imagined how funny that last line would be if it was on a fortune cookie: Michele is the best. Then you add...well...you know...) Yay to love! I think I might have to take it up a notch in my blog. Not that I don't think my writing is awesome, but I feel like I can video blog with the best of them. That being said, this Fall, I am planning to go to a VLOGGING format. What do you all think?

While you're thinking about that, let's also think about sex. Not necessarily with me, but with these women who I've had to replace my top 5. Growing up you have a list that your partner, no matter what you do, can't say a thing. Like if J-Lo came up to me and said, "Rak, it's your time. We're going to do it like Alabama Teenagers on a Friday Night after a bottle of moonshine and a country music concert. What? That's some crazy sex. But My Woman couldn't say a thing because J-lo is so hot, she's officially on my list, and really she has to just shrug her shoulders and say, "Good Pull."

And we're getting older so the old crop is archived in my fantasy database and Jeff Cruzinator is right, I need to update and upgrade my list. Sorry J-Lo, sorry Tamia, sorry Charlize Theron, sorry Jessica Alba, and very very very sorry Alyssa Milano.

The Rakafella has been away for far too long. I've been busy discussing sexual politics with Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake. Meaning I watched a movie they were in titled "Friends with Benefits." I'm not sure what the MLA Writing Handbook rule is on Titles anymore so I covered my bases with Underlines, Quotes, and Bolding. Their new movie is pretty good. Sex, Jokes, Heartfelt Moments, Good Cast. All the parts of a great romantic comedy these days i.e. Love Actually and Valentine's day. Some people joke that I like Romantic Comedies. Well, it's no secret that I enjoy them. Michele, who we'll use an incognito name for as "My Woman" (not very incognito of me) LOVES romantic comedies. But she has a condition I have Named: Heartbreak Radio Disease. Fellas this is no joke man. Heartbreak Radio Disease occurs the day after you think you're okay with a break-up. You listen to the radio on your drive to your computer programming job and then a song, any song, comes on and it totally relates to you. You never realized the lyrics before, but "Daym Lil' Wayne, you right Jigga. She didn't know how to loo-oove!! (He's made love a two syllable word.)" Stupid Radio DJ! How did you know! All of a sudden Kanye and Katie Perry speak to you and, yes, "She was an Alien! So god in bed and out of this world, but what kind of HUMAN WOULD BREAK MY HEART! I hope you drop to number 469 in Ryan Seacrest's Top 40!"

Then you go home--aw man--every show, every commercial, you thinks is about you! Heartbreak Radio Disease. Now My Woman doesn't get heartbreak, but she watches a show and daym if I don't get the, "Rak! Don't ever cheat on me because Nathan and Haley almost didn't make it and we're not getting a Nanny cause she ain't swimming in our pool naked!" (One Tree Hill Fans may have snorted reading that.)

What am I saying now? 1. Romantic Comedies are great to look into social behavior across many cultures and eras. It's like a way for art to capture a time and look into the depths of human interaction so I really enjoy that plus it's sort of entertaining. 2. I get nervous I'm going to wake up with a pillow over my head because I bought the same cologne as Tiger Woods and My Woman ain't having it!!!

So I pull up to work in my Cadillac Escalade EXT aka 2004 Nissan Pathfinder and the satellite radio aka free radio from my antennae starts playing a jingle that I know...I KNOW...is going to screw me all day. Here it is:

What I'm trying to say is that because I've started my blog, Asians are blowing up on the scene. I'm seeing the ripple effects of this blog affecting the fabric of the world. People read my blog, get inspired to do more and then become champions of the world. The butterfly effect is happening people. Barrack Obama has just asked to change his name to Barrack Nguyen. Jennifer Lopez is leaving Mark Anthony to be with thissssss (imagine a body roll while stroking my rib cage as I say Thisssssssss--adds to the effect.) Walmart is #1 on the Fortune 500 as soon as they started selling Ramen. Coincidence?

Rosadel "Rose" Legaspi is Michele's cousin and our roommate. She is a late bloomer who has recently come into her own and is building a reputation as a wild child. She's like a son to me and I want you guys to get to know her a bit more.

What's your best dance? THE HULA. MY PARENTS SIGNED ME UP WHEN I WAS A KID IN HAWAII. PEARLY SHELLLLS IN THE OCEANNN! What this means I don't know. Rose is forever drunk now and, shocker, she was drunk when she answered these questions.

What time is it right now? I ONLY OPERATE ON ROSE TIME.. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MOMENTS. This basically means if she bent her head down to look at a watch, she might lose all inertia and puke. Lock it up Rose.

How old do you think you are? CHINA LADY IN 711 THOUGHT I WAS 19, BUT I'LL GO WITH 24. I don't understand why Rose is a racist.

I was just having lunch with my coworkers and we were discussing my wife's dancing as they've seen her on the viral Lyrical Dancing Videos on my Youtube page. What you don't know about Michele is that she is the BEST 90's dancer out there. I challeneged this until I saw her break it down "boom-kat" styles on Dance Dance Revolution. A Microsoft Kinnect game where you match the choreography on the screen. Watching Michele go through the game it looked like she knew the next move before it came on! She is awesome. By the way, she challenges anyone to any 90's song in that game. She said please come at her.

Personally, I take dancing seriously. Hey, growing up a fat asian guy in Montgomery County Maryland, my only game to woo the ladies was my sick ability to move to music. Dancing is my thing. But I keep my dance repitoire updated

Moonwalk-check. Harlem Shake-Check. Dougie-Check. Salsa-Check. Line Dancing-Check. Lyrical Dancing-Check. Crumping-Check. Cat Daddy-Check. Any and all styles, I will try, learn, and love. Dancing is the way my soul sings.

How will this affect me in the future? When I have kids, I'm going to know the hottest dance moves and do it better than my kids! Hands down. Then I will be asked to chaperone the dances and then what? Embarrass my children as I build a crowd around me in the punch bowl corner and lonely teachers oogling over my awesome groove-ability. I hear some kid yelling go lower Mr. Rak! And I do. Sorry kids...that is your future. I hope stretchy pants are cool in the future.

After a crazy weekend that involved A National's Baseball game, the awesomest Pool Party hosted by my friends Bill and Steph, and great food with my family guest starring Ming Nan and Rithy in the AM and my friends Edgar and Kat in the PM, I am feenin' for the gym!

But Gym Etiquette is nuts. People! Wipe the damn machines down! I do for you! Oh! And what is with those stupid "Feet" Looking Shoes? Then it got me to thinking about feet and shoes in general and my mind wanders.....

In terms of the racial norms, white people love to walk around barefoot. You do. Don't lie. And I am like damn, that is so different from Asians. We walk with shoes on outside of the house and then take them off when we go inside. White people will walk with no shoes on outside, but leave their shoes on when they go inside! Then Asians are left with the dilemma of when they invite over white people, they get the dreaded question, "Should I take off my shoes?"

I'm thinking, I don't want your shoes on my carpet, but your feet might be gross too walking around outside, hiking, or horseback riding (I dunno what white people do?)...ohhh...the catch 22. So when I get invited to a white person's house, I'm wearing dirty shoes...there's your dilemma back in your face Caucasians! What would you rather have? Dirty shoes or dirty feet on your carpets? The war continues...

So on Facebook there is a fad going around called planking. It entails a person laying face down horizontally on an object or somewhere like a plank. You take the picture and post it on Facebook. The craze supposedly started in Australia. Legend has it, a guy was planking the edge of a building and fell off, now it's a worldwide phenomenon. And you thought the world was morbid? Taking a disaster and making it chic--yeah, slightly morbid.

So let's create a fad less morbid. More Festive! My friend/cousin/roommate, who's name I won't mention but rhymes with Shrose Shlegaspi, had a friggen party night like none other by getting hammered, plastered, ish-faced, and pretty much just rockstarred it out. Why? No Occasion. None. No Holidays, No Wedding, No Raise or Promotion. JUST ROCKED IT OUT. So let's birthday her.

So to Birthday someone, you have to first, start a Facebook thread of all the people at the party wishing "Shrose a Happy Birthday." You want to get random people also to wish her a happy birthday! Too funny. Then make her/him a cake and post the picture of them blowing a candle out or just passed out in front of the cake. (Cookies, cupcakes, and candy bars are all acceptable.) GO BIRTHDAYING! Happy Birthday Shrose!

Sister Katie...

I was going to write something about my sister, but she's a spotlight hog all the time anyway. Not like me. I am a humble servant of the people who only provides laughter as a jester would the court. My sister is like the town drunk who just jumps in and interrupts and heckles the jester!

I'm not going to talk about my sister, but she's got something to say about everything. The words, "awkward silence" don't mean anything to her because she really never allows there to be silence. She jumps on awkward silences and devours them with her, I guess we can call them, jokes?

I was going to talk about my sister, but I won't. She is so annoying and pushes my buttons all the time! Not because I deserve it, but because she knows how and can! Why? Because she's my sister. *sigh*

What I'm trying to say is, no-one better say a thing about my sis. In all honesty she is the best. I couldn't have been more proud as a brother to see her develop into the funny, healthy, smart, family centric person she is today. Love you Brister! I still wish you had that buck toof to make fun of though...so fun. Miss those days...
