2 strange sights

I came across two very exciting experience on yesterday.

First, I saw a vendor put these bunches of bananas on top of charcoal and burn it. The customers just peeled always the skin and eat the partially baked fresh.

And no… i never try the burnt banana.

Second encounter than gave me the wow reaction was the polka dot corn.

Look a bit dirty right ? mmmm… thinking of trying it… maybe later.. hehehehe

Angry Birds Board

Saw this box of Angry Birds board game at street market today. It is a size of A3 size paper. Curiosity made me stop and inspect closely on the display.

Turned to the back and reliased it is really a game board. Inside have a few different birds and structure which could be set up and let players pull the sling and released it at the piggys.

Totally impressed by the designer who go so far to create this game from APP to physical action. However, I don’t think i will enjoy the action so no $$$$ out from pocket for the box.

Yee Shang (鱼生）Dinner

So many peoples talked n put up photos on Facebook of their Yee Shang encounter…… I must get up to the speed… so I insist to have a Yee Shang dinner tonight too.

After a long few mins of GOOD sentences while stirring the mixture…as always, the final result was a messy plate which I am very much enjoy eating.

The main reason for us to visit this eating place was their ever famous mini Buddha Jump Over Wall, kind of expensive bowl of soup but the taste were awesome….. they had a nice pc of abalone in it.

Than I ordered pork rib fried

A salad butter prawn… my favourite…. yummy

and my last dish was something simple but always hard to cook… fried kangkong. The lucky me got the vege which was fresh and the chilly just spicy enough… wow…

After pushed all these dishes down my throat…. i cant just drive back home…. too full…. spent next 1hr walking around and detour to DVD store for a FEW titles. Time to watch one of the movie…..

Vegemite –> “Australia”

Vegemite, one of the famous KoalaLand icon (as well known as Koala or Kangaroo) This is the common Vegemite label in the market.

I had a small bottle inside my kitchen cabinet, opened since 1yr ago and still hardly touch it…… I am not sure by when I will finally fall in love with this hot like Lady GaGa stuff ?

However, I have the practise to carry 1 or 2 bottles back to BolehLand in each of my return trip because a very special lady of mine just loved Vegemite. At least I no need to crack my head on what to get for her in coming meeting.

Just as I get ready to fill up my luggage with another bottle than I spotted ad on TV of changed of label for a special period of time to below sign…

No “Vegemite” printed like always, instead replaced with “Australia”. It is the special edition for coming Australia Day celebration. Very clever way of marketing, at least they managed to make me rush all the way to the supermarket to grab one bottle on the same day of the ad.

Asked the worker (which was an indian lady look human) of where burek origin from…. Dummy answer me EUROPE !!!

What to do, Google it and got the answer : Burek is a type of pastries from Turkey.

Saw these 2 super cute doggy a few times at a busy commercial street since last year. Usually just act cool and walked on but not on this Sunday. The owner (a couple) always had coffee at the same cafe when I spotted them.

Since I am in good mood, I stop and asked permission from the owner to take photos with an excuse to show my niece.

Don’t you agree they are pretty gorgeous !!!

I did have this look when I torn open the cover yesterday. Just as I so used to the concept BLUE dots on washing powder, the Mr scientist of FAB decided to surprise me with something much for innovative…. BROWN dots. Could it be much more powerful ? Have not put my $$ into the casher of commercial pizza outlet (Domino & Pizza Hut) for a long time. Don’t know why suddenly think of having one so visit the Domino after 2pm. As usual, they always have some super deal which meet my budget. For today, this one….

Chicken… BBQ sauce…. Bacon…. good…

Only managed to push in 90% of it… the last slice had to give it a miss. Very cheese so expecting going to have a hard time when come to dinner time.

One of the main satisfaction of having commercial pizza is the edge of the pizza always well baked and crispy. It give out a very nice flavour when chew it. Pizza I bought from domestic store usually just cooked, lack of the brownish colour on the edge which I like.

Magic Bottle

The summer heat getting into me since last week. My desired for cold fresh water became so strong.

Until now, I only store bottle of fruit juice inside fridge. No fresh plain water. Mainly because the tap water are so cold therefore I just collect directly from there if I want water to cure thirst.

However, this solution became less effective on last few days because the tap water started to feel less cold. This magic glass bottle just came at the right time, saw it in Aldi moment ago… without second thought I grabbed 3 bottles.

I like this glass bottle design since long ago but it usually cost a lot in ordinary shops. Thanks to super Aldi, less than $1.50 a bottle. Super price.

Going to have my 1st taste of plain cold water from fridge tonight… weeee

New Year Day

Started my 1st day of 2012 by woke up after 9am. A 3hrs later than my normal wake up timing. The excuse….. go to bed after 3am as I was out there witness fireworks countdown.

Must do something nice to kick start the new day. What about flip open the 1st page of John Grisham’s new book, The Confession. Chapter One down after an hour during my afternoon break. Not a bad book, already like it. I have 2 wks to go with this book, the time frame i set.

See….I started the year with such a positive action and I determine to embraced the year fully with my way, which mean could be another way. Another 12 short months to work on it.

I sure it’s not going to be another ordinary year but a year full with opportunity and challenges. Love 2012 already.

Let me end this year posting with a quick mention on an old movie made by Wong Kar Wei (王家卫) => 2046

When this movie was out on 2004, it was a big firm for art film lover. I know it is good and worth to follow by never watch it at the end because I know I would not be able to appreciate 王家卫 product yet. My patient and logic was not up to his standard.

KoalaLand have a TV station which played only quality movies from all over the world. I recorded 2046 back to Sep 2010 but not touch it since than until last night…..

Since the man is older and the mood is right (last few days of the year) once the film start, immediately I got absorbed by the story and flow along with the director weird ideal in express love.

Too many gorgeous actresses walked thru the set and they made the movie so much better with the present but at the end… the viewer still stay close with the story, the pain and sorrow on the story the director want to tell…. a success….

In this movie, the director picked Adagio (by Secret Garden) as the main background music. He repeatedly played this sad music when the love events came to the end...

I just reliased I already have this piece of music in my mp3 list few weeks back, long before I watch 2046….. I do have a good taste,

Saw this rack left outside apartment next to street on yesterday afternoon after work.

Took a closer look on the condition…. mmmm…. no dent no bent… color perfect… also not shaking when push it. Wonder why the owner (apparently from my apartment) don’t want it ???

It you don’t want it…. UNCLE want…. so carried it up to my room… tap water on… cloth out…. wept here wept there…. almost new now.

BUT…. but … but…. where to put it ah ? hehehehe….. my room almost full with all type of junks by now…. simple put it at the corner for now. Time to get a bigger place….. hehehehehe

My Ikan Bilis Tales

Reliased I have a package of 1kg raw ikan bilis (dried anchovies) in my cabinet few days ago. Brought over from Bolehland during my June trip and never touch it till now.

When I turned over the package, I saw fine powder formed at the bottom…. ooop… not a good sign,,,, this mean the product started to turn old. Must used it or have to dispose it soon.

Mum formula cooking anchovies is deep fried in lot of oil than applied some sugar on top. Mrs Tee way of cooking anchovies is shimmer with hot chillis. Both methods will result thick salty smell in the room the next 24 – 48 hrs. A big no no to me.

Time to look for advise… and my victim was my ever smart sister.

Sent her above photo with short few lines…. HOW to cook the ikan bilis beside deep fried in oil ?

Expected to have a reply like => How I know !!

Surprisingly, she typed back => Put inside oven and bake it !!

Hello… sure can or not ? but people already give suggestion… must try lor…. so there I go…… after 25 – 30mins….. after my room was cover in a thick salty smell…. I opened the over door and saw smoke emitted from the anchovies….. I think can consume by now.

Look a bit plain right ? I think so but wait till you bite it…… Ai Yoh… no joke joke oh… as crispy as nasi lemak ikan bilis….. and NO Oil is the big advantage.

Now I plan for my 2nd attempt, this time will mixed the anchovies with some fine sugar (of cause the idea from my smart sister again lar) Maybe in future can open a factory to produce it mass volume but who buy ah ? Ang Mor hate this salty smell right ?

Chilli Relish Burger

KFC latest promotion meal named as Chilli Relish Burger mmmmm…. sound like could be another fake SPICY related gimmick again but no choice…. curiosity bring uncle to the order counter again.

This was what I got for my set meai, at $9+

Look at the size of the bun, it is so not KCF style… the size of the burger look much more bigger than any of the standard menu the ever serve. The next surprise was the chicken sandwich between the buns was a healthy meat… not oily or soft. Just a firm nice piece of meat, I think breast meat (which I don’t really enjoy) but great to know I do able to eat healthy from fast-food outlet…. occasionally lar

Still cannot believe it, KFC do really serve a burger which not Mini size… It it up boy.

Boxing Day Outing

The day after Christmas Day is Boxing Day, a superb day for bargain maniac like ME. Most of the shops (majority boutique) given out max discount for the stock left from Xmas sales.

I bought a few things for my 6 hours hunting and the most excited buy should be this……..

OMG… I cannot believe it…. I have the gut to walk into TOPSHOP just now and more unbelievable ….. I end up with 4 pcs of shirt. Where they hide the invisible sign “only below 30yo welcome” hehehehehe…

This UK origin happening brand decided to establish it stand alone shop in Melbourne just 2 mths ago. The opening was kind of shocking, young kids just rushed in and grab what ever shit on the hanger. Seriously, I don’t really know what so special about the design but it look like if you have the product from TOPSHOP on you than you are IN lor.

So now 2 gals and 2 guys going to be the IN thing from my purchased, a super bargain buy of cos.

Look at what I found hanging around with my strange looking berries (bought on weekend) when I took it out for munch moment ago….

How come this alien pop out from my berries ??? Cannot understand… I soaked the entire pack in salt water for 1hr (should I consider to breach it too ???)

mmm… still have not put any of the berry into my mouth yet… the possibility of meeting another alien make me not so willing to consume the berries now…..

The very wonderful thing of celebrate Xmas in country with 4 seasons is you are allow to have a real Xmas tree in the living room.

Branches of fresh Xmas tree like below photo which I captured at commercial area can be found easily.

The tree could go up to $250 if the size are bigger. Sooooo…. nice to have real plant in the house during the festival period right….. sound good until I heard from morning radio show on it downside…..

nah… this was what the comment I heard…. snails drop from the plant after moved into the room. Dog bark at the tree cause got mouse or possum hiding ontop. Not forget worms n inserts.

For me…. no fresh Xmas tree… just a plastic will do.
