For Christmas I received a book full of Sainsbury’s own brand packaging - Own Label / Jonny Trunk. It might sound like the content wouldn’t be of interest, but I’d like to think you would be very surprised. The design for some of the most simple household shopping items during the 60’s and 70’s are really beautiful. Somehow I don’t think we will be buying a book in 40 years time containing a collection of today’s branding.

Magnified samples of the Liver - coloured engravings from the 1940’s. It looks like the pattern covering a 1960’s blanket that my Grandma and Grandad gave me. Blankets inspired by magnified Liver perfect.

This is a project I am currently working on at Matt’s inventing afternoons. A whole afternoon was spent desperately trying to understand Arduino code, luckily I was surrounded by people who could help me out and by the end of the session the map was starting to function in the way that I wanted it to (besides one little LED that had given up the week before and refused to light up). Hopefully a more complete prototype version will be ready to unveil next week or maybe the week after. Thank you Curtis for the photo.
