In this world of lies, betrayal and infidelity (my apologies for the prejudicial opening statement), I consider my self BEYOND lucky to be with a man who holds my heart with utmost care. Yesterday, we celebrated our nine years of being together. NINE YEARS! I know some of you might say nine years is... nothing, but for me it's an accomplishment. It is hard to cultivate a relationship. It can get exhausting at times. Healthy and functional relationship needs a lot of action... and having someone who is willing to build it with you makes the battle less burdensome. When you get older (at least I thought) you change your ways of seeing things.. of seeing love. Nine years of being in a steady relationship taught me to view love holistically. To appreciate not just the good happy times but also the devastating and heart breaking moments. To be romantic yet practical. To be in love yet sane. Ours is not a perfect one, but we are learning and growing to be individually complemental of each other.

Out & About: National Convention of Lawyers 2013

The year started off briskly. I am now back to my crazy dizzy schedule after two weeks of hibernating, nonetheless I am adjusted (i think) and eager to face 2013 with full spirit. To kick off the perky academic year, I was invited together with my classmates to become a staff to the recently concluded IBP National Lawyer's Convention. It was a lot of fun meeting Justices, Judges, Lawyers, local celebrities, and media men. It actually jaunted my desire to become a lawyer someday. On a totally different note, let's talk about my outfit during that night.. shall we? I decided to wear a simple black A-line cut dress with lacy back, which I bought from Forever21 before the event started. We were told to bring a Hawaiian dress, but the coordinator changes mind at the last minute and instructed us to wear "something black" instead. Overall, I think the outfit was classy and chic and safe although it was a bit bigger for me. Saved by the shiny shimmering gold belt, it made the dress look like one and not an apron.

What I Got For Christmas

At first, I though I should refrain from showing the presents that I received last holiday season, but after careful consideration I decided to go ahead and make a post. I just wish I won't receive any comment saying "Hey, that is a braggy post.. showing us that you got a lot of things while we barely receive any piece of candy at all." NO, that isn't my intention. I didn't really wish for anything last Christmas (well, that's a lie.. I did in fact wish to have that life-sized hello kitty mascot from Sanrio world, which I know is equivalent to impossible).

It is just wonderful to note that loved ones extend extra effort, and go spend a couple cash to buy things that could make you happy and feel special. For me, It is not the actual present that counts, but the fact that someone remembers you even during the crazy holiday rush.. and I appreciate that big time.

Christmas vacation is passing by so quickly, and I am more than sad to reckon that it's only just over three days to go before class reopening. I am enjoying my days-away-from-school the best that I could. Sure it is truly nice to have a little break from my usual routine, and just be living the merriest days of the year. I have spent the holidays wonderfully thus far and I am looking forward to a good year-ender celebration with my family and loved ones. As we speak, I am planning how to spend my Sunday. I intend to relax today and just do away with partying and meeting friends. I'd probably read some good books later,or watch movies, or go catch a full amount of sleep. I deserve a bit of spanking because I've been bad this past weeks.

I've been wondering how I would look like with pink hair that's why when someone sent me this RICHENNA BUBBLE Shampoo in PINK BROWN, I am just way too excited to color my hair yet again. PINK HAIR??? UGHHHH! That’s so cute….

So this is how the packaging looks like, just anime(ish). It claims to have a "formulation with lavender and sage extract that minimizes hair damage and helps to leave your hair silky and shiny. The amino acid provides moisture for your hair to look healthy." Well I don't know much about the accuracy of that statement, but I can be your lab rabbit and see how this works. I just hope that my hair won't fall off after this experiment.

Contents:

1) Colorant 50g

2) Developer 50g

3) An empty pump container for mixing

4) A pair of gloves and a sheet of cape

5) Henna Therapy Condition

1. Put the mixing bottle on a flat surface and pour the colorant.

2. Add the developer.

3. Replace the foamer cap and twist it until it is tightly sealed. Mix gently by inverting the bottle until solution is well mixed.

4. Place the bottle to the hole on the box so that the dispenser is secure and won't topple.

5. Put on the gloves and start pumping out the product.

6. Apply ample amount on DRY HAIR starting an inch away from the roots.

Your roots react quickly to the hair dye that’s why it’s always best to start inches away from it. After your done with the rest of your hair, you can now start coloring your roots. Using bubble hair colors are so simple. You just apply them the way you do with regular shampoo.

Caution: Be careful so that foam won't splatter and get into your eyes.

7. Leave the hair for 30 minutes up to an hour. Wash your hair and apply the treatment conditioner.

THE RESULT:

Now, here's how it looks with a little bit of sun exposure.

It is actually a relief that It did not turn out super pink.School rules say NO PINK HAIR therefore this experiment did no harm so far.

The only con about this brand is the smell... IT SMELLS LIKE A DEAD MICKEY MOUSE!

First Beginnings and Happy Endings

At 26, I would like to say that I am moving towards that direction. But life, as we know it, takes guts and gamble. And in as much as I would have preferred to read the bulk of Santrock’s chapter on Family, Lifestyle and Parenting page wise, I cannot but be critical about it. Indeed, each part carries questions that require answering in ways more complicated than just flipping pages.

The concept of a family has been with me since the first time my father laid an eye for my mom. And since I live in a community where blood and kinship is given paramount importance, I virtually sit on a vast construct of what a family is. As an infant I was clowned upon by my parents when they taught me my first trail of words, “Charlotte, ingna Mama...ingna Papa.” Teachers way back first grade days said to me “Ang isang pamilya ay binubuo ng Tatay, Nanay at ng kanilang (mga) anak.” Another teacher, this time in my fifth grade, emphasized,

“Once the sperm meets the egg, fertilization happens and a human zygote is formed!”

Now that I have aged my adolescent years, my idea of a family also matured with me.

This time, it no longer is about my first words to my parents, but rather my first steps away from them. The right foot I place on the exit carpet and the left foot just behind the closing door. I need to distance myself to find the avenues that are meant for me; but with this quest is the other part that longs to stay within the comforts of my home. Family for me now is the only “first word” where, if time permits, I will want to go home to.

At one point I also believed that a family is composed of a father, a mother, and their children. At present I realize that it can also exist with me and me alone. I cannot always seek the fatherly lap I used to sit on. I cannot always eat the healthy breakfast that mom used to cook. My siblings already outgrew pillow fights and Sunday mornings cannot always mean family day is up and fully activated. Sometimes, a cup of coffee spent with the Sunday magazine seems to work quite fine for me. I content myself with recollections of patintero days, grin a little in front of the mirror and work my way up to the usual long Sundays of single blessedness. And for me, It works just fine.

Even if modern science still conserves what my fifth grade teacher used to emphasized, family for me has gone beyond this basic context of biological science. Blood relations alone cannot fully cover my idea of a family. Artificial methods of conception has been advancing and adoption cases is also beginning to flourish. Family of today is not only bound by blood but also by experience. Conception is a gift but it does not anymore define good parenthood.

Again, I would like to say that now that I have aged my adolescent years, my idea of a family also matured with me.

The concept of a family does not only bring back origins. It also

creates the future.
That is, from birth, to my first words, to my first kiss and my first job comes my visions of settling down and be with the family that I too will soon build.

Maybe I want a husband. The person I will spend the other side of my bed with. The one I could argue and make love with at the same time. The man who defines compromise for me and the person whom I will share half of my cup of coffee.

Maybe two or three children will do. They're more than enough to spread noise and joys around the house. I will teach them love and respect. Cook breakfast and pack lunch for their first day of school. Read bedtime stories till they fall to sleep. Or maybe dress them up for their first prom dates.

Maybe I want a nurturing home- where parents practice democracy, and children uphold obedience. Some place where grandparents, parents and grandchildren spend Sunday mornings like patintero days. Like friends. Like family.

Maybe.

These are distinct aspects of a family cycle. They may appear discrete and too individualized, but they are more than just a way of life.

They are life itself.

And in as much as I would want to move forward to create a family of my own, I will still have to settle my own pieces of it. Maybe I want it now. Later, maybe not. But just like what every cycle is all about, a family starts from a family, ends with it just to start all over again.

And unlike first words, first steps and first kisses, family never fades away.

SERIOUSLY GREEDY in screaming capitals

I AM MAD! No, I am EXTREMELY MAD!

People either see me serious/flat or joyous/loud, but rarely will they encounter me in this state...furious.

Something rough happened yesterday. Around 5:00 PM, we had a fuel delivery from the bulk depot. We did the usual routine of unloading, and few hours after new products were loaded in our tank, a flock of motorists went back enraged.

A few minutes more and the flock became even massive. My first reaction was that of fear. I locked up at the office, gathered my thoughts… I decided to call my father for a rescue, but opted to solve the “unknown issue” my own.

I managed to snap a not so decent shot of last night's scene from the CCTV monitor. (Refer to the photo above.) The crowd was not so overwhelming at this stage but it went triple or even quadruple in size. It was really scary that it made me an instant agoraphobic.

However, I realized that I am the IN-CHARGE. I need to muster my strength and just play my position. I can’t just hide and pretend that I know nothing. I have no choice... I have to be brave and so I went out to confront the overpowering mob. All of them are infuriated, some worried. They claimed that the premium fuel that we gave them ruined their vehicles. My initial reaction was full of defiance. This can’t be happening of course, we are selling legit product here and I am running a legit business for Christ’s sake! But, at the back of my mind, a part of me was agreeing with the majority.

Okay, so to stop the hearsays, we dispensed a sample fuel directly from the machine… Lo and behold, we are indeed selling a crappy piece of shit! Then and there, I felt so chicken little.

There could be no other explanation for this. Either the hauler fooled us or the mother company is one big scumbag. I don’t know which is which, but this is for sure: SOMEONE IS SO FREAKING GREEDY.

To whomever greedy enough to risk the livelihood of others just to earn an extra piece: I just wish you a fair life and I hope you are here to see me battle the mocking eyes of others. Do know that you ruined 27 motorcycles last night and that you've caused a certain manic being a good amount of money just to make sure that everybody can move on reasonably.

I may have to cut short my ranting (I am actually sorta in a rush) but I will get back to you soon enough.

WARNING: I have a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. I will look for you, I will find you, and I will let you drink this piece of shit that you gave us. YOU FEEL ME?

PS: Business as usual. Products are now engine-friendly... tried it myself. Never had diarrhea thus far.
