Talking about textures again?

Yes...

I can't help it, its been very influential in my outfit decisions these pass days

What is texture?

A pattern with a profound mystical relief surface?

Maybe, but either way I wanted to share with you some

inspiration textured pictures that have brought a smile on my face and

who doesn't like a smile in their face?

Texture Tuesday

2014-01-21T15:56:00.000-08:00

Today I decided to experiment with some texture

Not sure if it looks like it, but this outfit it super comfy

Really into the orange pattern in this dress

decided to add a velvet halter top over the dress

For the jacket

I choose a textured vintage jacket with velvet shoulder details

This picture is to show you more the dress colors, but the picture

below will show the jacket better :)

Monday Roar

2014-01-20T14:27:00.000-08:00

Wanted to mix two patterns today

Even though they are different patterns I think

since they both have black and white it works

Both pieces are vintage

Hair is new

or should I say "new color" :)

Love the cut of jacket and the velvet collar sleeves

Late Weekend

2013-09-04T21:15:00.000-07:00

It still feels like Summer in the Midwest, but I am gently starting to get

my mind around buying long sleeve tees and sweaters

Mostly in the Summer I get into this floral vintage state of mind

that I love to explore and express

Once the cool temperatures start to creep out, I get into my

more modern, man influence adventure

Either way, I enjoy both :)

Here are a few weekend pics I would like to share with you :)

Checking out an exhibition at Arc Gallery

http://www.arcgallery.org/

Downtown Time

Peeking through antique shops

Awesome art

Really into the velvet jacket and scarf from the H&M Collection

Attend the Happy Exhibition with my sister, brother and nephew on Saturday

I really recommend it if you are in Chicago

What number will you pick?

Did some exploring with my love

I've been getting into the idea of making a hat for myself

I haven't had any luck this Summer finding a gorgeous hat I just had to have

Looking through tumblr, I found some inspiration :)

Enjoy

Not a "hat"

but true inspiration nonetheless

Iowa Pickers

2013-08-12T13:02:00.000-07:00

Hello All!

How was your weekend?

During the weekend my love and I decided to head out Iowa for a day

First, on Friday, we went on a date to a small Des Plaines Theater to view
"Metropolis"
It was being played for the Silent Film Festival
The movie was being shown with a skilled organ player, which was very effective to all
the high points of the movie

The movie "Metropolis" was over 2 hours long and yet some
parts were still missing from the original film

I would say that film is dark, trippy and innovating
There are creep moments that are so intriguing
I caught some people sleeping during the movie, but would
recommend it if you are into silent movies with cool sci fi dark scenes

Saturday we headed to Le Claire, Iowa

We visited the "Antique Archaeology" shop

I was a bit disappointed with the size... somehow I imagine a large

non-ending store full of old treasures, but it was quite small

I did however enjoy the picks they found and displayed

Have to seen the show "American Pickers?"

http://www.history.com/shows/american-pickers

Well watching some episodes got us interested to see the store front

My love and I took a few pictures that I would like to share

The black and white pictures were taken from him

Here is what appealed to us

http://antiquearchaeology.com/antique_archaeology_leclaire_ia.html

You can't really see all the people in this picture, but their were so many cool bikers all around the store

Those faces!

Love this pic

After browsing around we went to eat at
"Crane & Pelican Cafe"

http://www.craneandpelican.com/

The atmosphere was so awesome
It felt as though we were eating at someones house
Very inviting

My meal

His meal
The potatoes were soooo good

Vegan Pie for the finish :)

Close up of my top

After our small feast we drove to Davenport, Iowa
We did some vintage/resale store shopping
See anything you like?

Art Museum time

http://www.figgeartmuseum.org/

It felt like we were the only ones in the museum, which was so cool :)

Look at all the colors

My favorite piece of the day

Matching with art :)

Next to a Roy Lichtenstein print

The small trip was well needed and I had a great time
Here is a link of the last time we visited Iowa,

During the Week

2013-08-09T15:42:00.000-07:00

Hello Friends,

I was hoping to do a couple outfits of the day this week, but only got to

post these pictures on my instagram

Here are some pictures I would like to share with you

I was really feeling floral patterns this week as you can tell

I bought these new glasses at Aldo a few weeks ago and they go with just about anything,

very essential if you ask me :)

One of my neighbors beautiful flower

This dress was so comfy

Had on a matching head scarf and belt too

Trying to get more fruits in my body and a couple of work outs in

Might add some tasty juice recipes to my blog soon :)

Have a great weekend!

Thrift Haul

2013-08-07T11:31:00.001-07:00

Hello!

Hope your Wednesday is going great

I wanted to share with you my thrift finds from the past two weeks

Let me know what you think of them

I found this handmade dress and loved the floral pattern

The dress is too big on me, so I will take it in on the waist

This dress is also big on me, but that never keeps me from

buying a dress. It's easier to take a dress in, then taking it out in general.

Can't wait to alter it

Love the pattern on this Prabal Gurung for Target dress

You might have seen it around

The only thing I am not sure of is the bottom flair

I might make it a top instead...not sure

Essential Scarfs

Been on a hunt for cute aprons and I found these two lovely

treasures

Check out the details on this little number

The little hats are so cute they make me smile :)

This tissue box was next to an identical bowl, but unfortunately

it was badly cracked and chipped

Got this little dish to place my small rings on

Also got this for jewelry

What do you think of my finds?

Anything you liked?

Catching Up

2013-08-05T09:50:00.000-07:00

Hello!
I've been away from my blog for a while.
I felt the need to take some time off for perspective, but I am back
to share with you vintage fashion, art and life :)

Let's jump right back in!

On Saturday my love and I headed to a Sale to find some treasures

The weather was amazing

A close up of one of the bikes inside the sale

Snap!

I really liked how worn the sign was

Darling.....

Another pic of myself
with an awesome elongated mirror effect

Afterwards we headed out to
www.nightanddayvintage.com

Elvis was outside to greet us

I didn't find anything to buy, but I had a good time browsing

We then took some food to eat by the lake

What a view

People watching

Lovely walk through some trails

We headed west of the city and did more walking

A big group of bikers was in the prowl and this guy posed for this pic :)

Sunday was a fun day with the family
We played baseball and did some grilling

I didn't get them, but I though they deserved to be seen

Got these goodies for $10 flat

Trying to see if soft turtle necks go with me

Also, trying to experiment with different lipstick shades

My comfy grocery shopping outfit

Today I'm wearing one of my favorite purses

2013-04-10T14:41:00.000-07:00

Camera Skills

2013-01-25T20:35:00.001-08:00

I really need to learn how to set my camera...

Can you notice how my pants look a different color in the pictures?

Yes, very noticeable :)

That's why I only have two decent pictures to post because the rest looked crazy!

Anyway...I've been neglecting my brooches lately and decided to take this

lovely brooch out for the day

I know....the random outlet again

I am going to try to take outdoor pictures...maybe...

Hope you have a great weekend

Shiny Velvet

2013-01-23T11:31:00.000-08:00

Replacing the basics has been in process for a few days now

I had a faux leather jacket, but I didn't like how it fit me, so I grabbed this

lovely light jacket while thrifting the other day

I also treated myself to these topshop boots for $20, awesome deal

since they were originally $76

Faux leather, velvet top and shiny shoes, doesn't sounds like it goes does it? :)

Bright picture, yes :)

A New Art Beginning

2013-01-18T16:02:00.000-08:00

Over the pass weeks my thoughts for my art and my surroundings have changed
dramatically... in a good way I sense...
I still have my sad moments of losing my baby...but it's more now like I see
the happiness, the wonder of life, how someone you never pictured in your life
can bring joy and excitement to your life...even if it was for a moment

I feel like my mind has been cleared, like I have awaken or expanded in a way
I'm not good at writing or expressing my thoughts through words, but here's a try

For a few years now, I have painted vintage images from old photos
They were figurative, full of color, some may say "visually understanding"
I painted what I saw....

I don't feel like painting something in this form anymore
I appreciate that series, but I feel the eager of painting what I feel now...

To be honest, I never really knew how to comprehend abstract art before, I knew
that I enjoyed the compositions or colors, but deep inside I didn't really decipher what I was
seeing, feeling when I viewed the pieces, until recently when I
started writing poems again

I see my art going towards a mix of minimalist/abstract expressionist
I want to strip it all off and bring it back to the basics
I want to create pieces that evoke emotion

The pictures I selected are inspiration for me, especially the last
De Kooning photos, I love the soft colors and strokes of those pieces

I will try to post more of my art as I am making it..... after all that's
why my blog is called "I Art Fashion"

Usually I don't write a lot on my posts, but
this post is important to me
I hope I made sense :)

Have a great weekend

Kick of Purple

2013-01-09T14:13:00.000-08:00

Hello,

Hope you are doing well.

I took these pictures last week for an outfit of the day, but later on

I didn't like how the boots went with the assemblage, oh how fancy!

Mistake, yea...but there are worst things to fuss about, so

here they are :)

I purchased this jacket a while ago in one

of my thrifting trips

I think it was less then $5

One of my favorites

This new sweater is super comfy

(a thrifted find as well)

It's an XL sweater, but since I'm short

I can just belt it and use it as a dress

Short people perks

My camera decide to blur me out with some cool mystical

affects, so I though I would share it with you

I'm thinking of a new haircut/new look really

Maybe dye it dark brown and cut it short?

Never Made It

2013-01-02T23:45:00.000-08:00

Going through my picture blog folder, I came

across some photos I took in 2012 that never made it in my blog

I had plan to place them in my blog and I would still like to post them

because they have meaning to me

I will be able to look back at them and remember a moment... a time

in my life, little thoughts come to your mind

when you see a picture

Do you have pictures that never made it in your blog?

Planning to post more men inspired outfits of the day

Also getting into abstract patterns in clothing

Casual times

This picture makes me want to dye my hair again...

Self blurry pictures are becoming my favorite

Last Day of 2012

2013-01-01T20:24:00.000-08:00

The last day of 2012 was spend

relaxing at home, painting at the studio, visiting the Hancock Building and finally

getting together with family

Please excuse the hair, as you can tell I didn't put much

effort in looking sparkly for New Years

I did however feel sparkly inside :)

This is one of the paintings I am currently working on, long process...

but it's teaching me to be patient

Views from the Hancock, so amazing!

My love got this tiny delight :)

Wishing you all a peaceful new year!
