Endings. I don't dislike them; its their needless sentimentality that bugs me. All good things have an expiry date (to misquote Chaucer) and I Blog Fashion plans to take her leave while that 'BEST BEFORE' sticker still inspires confidence. Peter O'Brien for Arnotts

Irish designer Peter O’Brien launched his third collection for Arnotts last night at an exclusive in-store fashion show. The 28-piece capsule of fit and flare wardrobe staples remained true to his Gallic-inspired signature - albeit this season with an Irish twist.

Razor-sharp coats and pencil trousers flirted with swirling skirts and diaphanous blouses in fabrics ranging from Magee Donegal tweed to crepe de chine and boiled effect flannel. A palette of aubergine, ivory, camel, navy and black made for failsafe style anchors lending to an overall deliciously wearable offering. All items are available in sizes 8-16 and range in price from €150 to €495.

Irish designer Natalie B. Coleman previewed her s/s 13 collection 'Sarah's Suitcase' at Paris Fashion Week recently. The collection is a personal diary, chronicling everything from her recent wedding to childhood holidays. "I got married this year," says the Co. Monaghan native, "and I was daydreaming of more old fashioned times when people put a trousseau together, all their best clothes for a new life and I was imagining the idea of packing up a trunk with lots of fabulous clothes to create new memories in a honeymoon collection..."

Of the inspiration behind the collection she adds: "The butterflies symbolise spirits that come back to us so I decided to name the collection ‘Sarah’s Suitcase’ after my beautiful grandmother who passed away while I was working on the designs. The greyhounds were an inspiration because of their elegance and nobility in shape, my husband’s father also keeps racing greyhounds, so I used them as a model for my illustrations. One blue and one pink, for male and female, they have their tails wrapped around each other as they are in love. I love the omance of the greyhounds chasing butterflies as we used to when we were kids.The Oyster and Palm print is from my confirmation outfit which reminds me of some of the best summer holidays in Miami and `80s pastels and summer time and being a kid. So it is a story of someone packing up for an adventure fun and flirtatious with lots of tailoring detail and memories and an old fashioned palette of dusty sugary nostalgia."

4.5 years and 275,734 page views later, I Blog Fashion hits 1,000 posts! As one of Ireland's first fashion blogs, it's been fascinating to see how quickly the face of social media has changed. Back in my day there was no twitter, Pinterest, 'like' buttons or fan pages; just a simple publishing page with a comment box at the bottom. Ever the geriatric, I Blog Fashion shall remain in its current condition but developments are afoot for a swankier sister site. Will keep you posted...geddit.

The Morning Show meets The Man Repeller

Catch me on The Morning Show Thursday, 30th August from 11am where I'll be discussing the impact of the Man Repeller and whether high fashion can ever peacefully co-exist with true love. If it involves the words Dries Van Noten in consecutive order then, hell yeah! Thanks to Leandra Medine who inspired fashion's new bon mot and her blog full of belly laughs. In honour of her cult tome, I've concurred on the following most common wardrobe offences which I've all worn (some of which I still do).

Is there a Man Repeller lurking in your closet? How to spot the enemy within.

Puzzling Footwear
Open toe high-heeled boots lined with fur, orthopaedic-inspired wedges, clogs – if it flies in the face of logic, or indeed weather patterns, it can only lead to heart-ache and loneliness. Let me break it down – would you see a Middleton sister sporting a pair?

Artillery Jewellery
Bullets, spikes, chains, articulated knuckle dusters, body armour – fashion has become a war zone that takes no prisoners. If you want to snag a fella, best tone down the new model army look. Chances are he’s taken cover.....far away.

Drop Crotch
The term says it all. If your trousers create anatomical doubt or suggest you’ve been auditioning for Aladdin, you best leave the harem tout de suite. Trust me – there’s no action there. It’s just a bad pantomime.

Maxi Dresses
Despite the transitional appeal of the maxi, our likely lads don’t care much for the garment. Seemingly, its length suggests we’re hiding something like hairy legs or a life size tattoo of the Virgin Mary.

Dude Duds
Boy meets girl, girl dresses like boy, boy legs it. Not exactly a fairytale but since when has reality ever been sugar-coated? We make love Kathryn Hepburn, Annie Hall and Annie Lennox but a dude’s clothes make you look like – a dude. Their words, not mine.

Jumpsuits
You think it makes you look like one of Charlie’s Angels. He’s thinking more along the lines of a bin man or a convict. He doesn’t care if it’s easy-to-wear but he is wondering how you pee in that thing.

Granny Chic
So your satchel contains a Kindle, some knitting paraphernalia and The Horrors on your iPod. Well done – you’re a hipster. Now stop dressing like Alexa Chung. Irony does not equal sexy – except on her.

It's been a busy few months at Despop HQ as animator Des Taylor puts the finishing touches The Infamous Katie Rogers. The sophomore graphic novel in the Katie Rogers series sees our British heroine in fashionable `60s mode as she juggles life and love as a busy New York publicist. I've had the honour to style Katie in a few more outfits again - this time bringing the influence of swinging London into her trousseau with shift dresses, baker boy caps, platform Mary Janes and Lennon-esque sunnies. Geometric prints and oversized hoop earrrings also make the grade with go go boots and thigh-scraping minis part and parcel of this Mod homage.
