When cat people have some time on their hands, some talent (arguably only small amounts needed, as demonstrated below), and the desire to enact their free will - you get the funniest results online. In the case of u/uno_name_left, it's demonstrated immaculately, with this particular person asking cat parents to send him silly pictures of their cats, and he… well, you know how it is. Silly cats must receive a silly art treatment. Especially if the picture contains cat bums and tails.

But with all honesty, as hissterically hilarious as it is, it's not surprising to us. We already know that the online feline family is funny, because cat people are seriously the funniest people online. Take this other art endeavour, for example - where a cat mom draws her cat's paws and calls it an OnlyBeans. Or this very round void cat who was rushed to the vet only to receive the diagnosis of "fat cat", sending the feline-loving folks online into a series of joke-making that had us holding our stomachs in laughter. One of our favorite things about cats is that nothing stops them from creating chaos. Nothing at all.

Cats adapt. That's one of the coolest things about them. They have one goal in life. That goal is chaos. And they chase that goal without letting anything get in their way. Absolutely nothing can stop them from committing crimes. A cat with three legs will use all three of them for chaos and not even notice it's missing a fourth. A blind cat will use its super hearing to commit the purrfect crime, especially if it includes screaming and running over our stomachs at 3 AM. You would think that a broken leg would put a paws on feline shenanigans like these, but no, not even that can make it happen.

This is something that has been proved beyond a shadow of a doubt on r/cats when Bug's story was put up. Bug, as he was being rescued from a drain pipe, sprained one of his paws, and the vets had to put him in a cast. But Bug was committing crimes from the second that he was rescued, and a single cast was not going to stop him. In fact, he has discovered how to use said cast as a launcher - so he can run and commit his crimes faster.

Cats are finicky creatures. You can give them a purrfect plethora of warm, cushy beds, the highest quality food and treats, all the attention they could ever want (and more), and they still might try to bolt every time you open the front door. Their curiosity gets the better of them sometimes, and even though we know better, they don't. Our spoiled little cat children are not built for survival, for example, they can't even "hunt" their toy mice. We're pretty sure they have no hunting instincts at all, unless you count incessant meowing until we open a can of tuna for them as "hunting".

This is why it's impurrtant to microchip your cats, because in the case that they do pull off a Houdini-level escape from the living room, all someone has to do is find them and take them to a vet, and they should be returned to you. That's also assuming that whoever found them will do the right thing, but that's a whole other topic that we're not getting into today.

Luckily, there are still good people in the world, and one of them can be found in Reddit's r/notmycat subreddit. They rescued an expensive designer breed kitten (Scottish fold) that they found in their yard. Instead of keeping the kitten for themselves, they took him to the vet, checked for a microchip, and safely returned him to his owner. Well, not all, Siamese cats are truly beautiful, that's for sure. But they have such a well-hidden derpy side that people who have never had a Siamese resident cat will never understand. We've also never raised a Siamese cat child, but luckily for us, the people over at the r/Siamesecats community agreed to expose the truth that Siamese cats' DNA is actually made of 50% silly, 40% disassembled body parts, 10% rolled-over poses, and 200% derp.

Cats are the combination of a lot of things, but most impawrtantly - they make wholesomeness and sass live side by side so effortlessly, like no other creature can.

We don't know how cats do it, but it's a very cat thing to be two things at once, even if they seem contradictory. For example, just yesterday our cat was biting and licking our hand at the same time. Yeah, we also didn't know it was physically possible until that moment. And there are also the street cats next to where we live that we give treats to every once in a while, and this one sweet stray both licks the churu and growls at the same time. Seriously, if that's not very cat of him, we don't know what is.

Cats are wholesome for sure - they sit on you and purr, they ask for pets by gently bonking their heads on your leg, and "meow" is one of the softest sounds any creature can produce. Cats have a very special and sweet way to show that they love someone, and if you have a cat of your own, you know exactly what we're talking about. There's a very big contrast between the start of Koda's life and the life he leads now, as u/StillSea9674 tells on r/nowmycat. It's like looking at a black-and-white page, with a very clear distinction between the two sides. Seeing a now-pampered cat in the beautiful pictures they added won't tell you anything about how he lived poorly for the first seven years of his life. If anything, we're grateful for the Cat Distribution System for fitting this beautiful boy with the right human parents, who now give him the best life he can live.

It's not that we didn't know that some people treat cats horridly, but hearing of a first-hand account with such horrendous details makes our stomachs ache. We can't fathom hurting animals (or people, for that matter) in this way. We can't understand how someone gets to a situation where they knowingly put animals in harm's way on such a scale. But unlike many on this property with hoarded animals, Koda was one of the only survivors. He was not well, though - this life led him to have many health issues that needed treating. And that's where we're so grateful for the CDS to pair him with the people willing to nurse him back to health, and loveingly so.

Reading through Koda's story is an emotional rollercoaster - but because after a very low low there's a very high high. The happy end is a sharp contrast to all that he had to go through. And as cat lovers who read many cat adoption stories every day, this one made us the happiest recently. Cats are very sensitive animals. They have a very good ear, and can hear sounds from the other corner of the house. The hunting instinct lives within them, and though some are scared of them, they barely hunt. Well that might just be my indoor cat, of course I can't speak for all the cat community. The second, and the reason we're here with you today, is cats. All cats. Where can the CDS find you, you ask? Literally anywhere and anytime.

Some people - uh… like us - pray for the CDS to find them every single day. We think we're worth it. We think we've earned it. But alas, we have not been chosen again quite yet, and we are waiting (im)patiently for it to finally happen. Other people don't ask for it at all. They hate cats, they don't want cats, they already have too many cats. There is always an excuse, but the cats never hear it. They don't care. The CDS works in meowsterious ways, and whether a cat will adopt you or not is not up to you.

The person who shared today's story on r/CatDistributionSystem had those same excuses. They weren't looking to adopt a cat. They already have a cat and a dog. But one look at this tiny pair of kittens, and they knew that they had to take them home. The meowgic took over. All other thoughts were wiped from their brains. It was only "kittens", and just like that, they ended up with four pets in their home instead of two. So, if you're wondering how to call on the CDS, we have no answer. We just keep waiting and praying.

We do everything that we can, as fosters, to make sure our foster cats get to the best homes, but we can never be 100% sure…

Fostering a cat is hard enough as it is. Not the fostering itself. We do it because we want to help shelters, because we want to help as many cats as pawssible to find their homes. The hard part is not bonding with the cat, it's not taking care of the cat and taking it to the vet.

The hard part is letting them go. Because we really do bond with them. We try to make them happy when they are with us, and if they really are happy, then taking them away from that happiness hurts. But we look for homes for them anyway, because we want to help other cats too. We just try our best to make sure the home they end up in is a good one.

Of course, there is no way to be 100% sure that the home you've found is a good one. We do our best, but sometimes, we're wrong. And when a cat gets returned to the shelter, especially if it was a cat that we fostered, out heart breaks. And the heart of user @laurennwedge on twitter broke too when that happened. So they took things into their own hands, and the solution was simple… just adopt the cat.

You see this story from Reddit's r/cats subreddit is a wonderfully special example of what can happen if a rescuer can get to an abandoned cat fast enough. Now, when we say fast enough we mean within seconds of the dumping happening. Otherwise the cat will likely run off to hide as detailed above.

So of course it is the case that most of the time it is unfeasible for a rescuer to turn up right as a cat is being abandoned. Which is how our story from Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem subreddit begins. With a kitten screaming its head off while surrounded by its siblings who did not make it. It is not known what happened to momma either, but when this cat loving rescuer showed up, all he found was a lone kitten crying amongst his limp siblings.

Everybody knows that we love cats. There is no hiding it, and we don't try. We claim our cat lady status with pride. Cats are adorable. That's a fact, and we would fight anyone who told us otherwise. We don't know about you, but something about old ladies just makes us happy. There is only so long that you can resist when a cat chooses to adopt you.

Cats adopt their humans. In the cat community, this is not merely an idea- it is a statement of fact. You may think, when you walk into a shelter, that you have some choice in the matter, that you get to decide, but no, you don't. You may walk into a shelter wanting to adopt a kitten and adopt the oldest cat instead. You may never get to the shelter in the first place, because a cat will decide to adopt you when you're on a walk outside. You never know when or how it will happen, but once it does - once you are chosen, resistance is futile.

Countless times, we have seen people who "hate cats" get chosen by them and fall in love. They may resist for a while. They may try to hold onto this idea of cat hatred. But cats don't give their humans a choice in the matter. Cats adopt, and we adjust, and then, we realize just how lucky we are to have been chosen by them. Yes, it took a minute for the person who shared their story on r/notmycat to accept that their "notmycat" has become "nowmycat", but eventually, they did, and now, they are all the happier for it.

Here is a list of appropriate things to throw away in a garbage bag: Food scraps, wrapping paper, empty chip bags, scribbled-on pieces of paper, popped balloons, pens that ran out of ink, and your cat's fur after you brush them. You know what's not on this list? A cat. Or a kitten. Or any living creature, for that matter. We'll never understand people who think it's okay to throw away a kitten in a garbage bag and just leave it there. We're not big on punishment, but if there was any action that deserved a harsh punishment, it should be that one.

Discarded like trash, a newborn kitten was thrown away with its umbilical cord still attached, according to our cat lover's story in Reddit's r/Kittens subreddit. The rescuer's quick thinking saved this kitten's life, by bringing to a veterinarian quickly and getting it on kitten formula. It's now two weeks later, the kitten has finally opened her eyes and is now curious about her new home and the hoomans around her. Thankfully, for Harley (the kitten), this story has a happy ending, but this isn't the case with every discarded cat or kitten.

We wrote an article a few days ago about Turkey and its relationship with its stray cats. The cats there are treated with respect, and they even have laws protecting them from crimes against them caused by hoomans. How did they manage this? By declassifying cats as "property" and reclassifying them as "living beings". It's crazy to us that still, in 2026, this isn't the standard everywhere. They may not speak the same language as us, but they still feel and they do not deserve to be discarded like litter.

We hope that one day soon, cats will have hte same universal protections everywhere, and purrhaps, people will learn to be a little kinder.
