Orange cats hold a special place in our hearts. They may be the most chaotic of our feline brethren, but they are also some of the sweetest cats we've ever met. Our second cat was an orange boy, named Cheeto, and we loved him from the second we saw him until his very last breath. Every day, we came home to some sort of disaster, from toilet paper being shredded, to even finding him with his head stuck in the wall (he made the hole, and then got stuck in it). Our lives with Cheeto were never boring, and looking back on it, we're purrfectly grateful for all of his shenanigans. Why? Because now that he's gone, they're all happy meowmories that help him live on in our hearts.

Cornbread, our orange cat below, did not get dealt the same hand of cards that Cheeto did. But thanks to Friends of Bear Cat Rescue, Cornbread now has a chance to live out his golden years with a family that truly appreciates him. He was abandoned by his previous owners when they moved and left outside to fend for himself. He got in quite a bit of trouble, even getting a nasty mouth infection that left him hungry, in pain, and confused. One year later, Cornbread finally got what he's been craving this whole time: a family that loves him. His new pawrents saw his heart and decided to adopt him, and now he's happily following the sun around their house, and showing his hoomans all the appreciation he can for taking him in. That is what the owners below did with their cats, after one of their kids developed a heavy allergy to them. Mittens is a survivor, and part of us believes she fought so hard to stay alive so that she could spend her remaining years with the family that loved her from the beginning.

Mittens was a family cat, but was unfurtunately rehomed due to the mother's toxic partner not wanting to live with a cat. The mom and her daughter never thought they would see Mittens again, but then again, cats never fail to surprise us with how resilient they can be. 8 years later, Mittens was returned by a couple who had been feeding her as a stray. They were worried about her, so they brought her into the vet, scanned her microchip, and found that the mom was still the contact listed there. We think that every cat owner in the world can agree that their cat running away is one of their worst fears. We know what our cats are like. We know how spoiled our cats are, how dependent our cats are on our love and care, even if our cats would deny it. We know it. It's the answer and reason, but the thing is… no one actually knows what the CDS actually is. It's a meowing mystery. We see its results all over - cats who find their purrfect human from the most unlikely of places. Ditches, under bushes, inside car engines, on roofs they can't get down from - cats find themselves in the most random places, and get adopted by the human who spotted them at the right time.

Sometimes the Cat Distribution System works with remarkable efficiency. Over on Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem subreddit, a cat with a snotty nose showed up looking for help and apparently decided he was done searching after one meal. A week later, he had already claimed a spot in the carport and worked his way into the hearts of the people caring for him.

The cat was taken to the vet, where he was estimated to be around 8 to 10 years old. The veterinarian suspected he may have been abandoned. He went home with antibiotics, steroids, and other medications, along with a new name: CC, short for Carport Cat.

CC wasted no time settling in. According to his new owner, he became friendlier than their indoor cats almost immediately. These days he follows them around the yard wherever they go, always wanting to be nearby. For a cat who may have spent years fending for himself, he seems more than ready to trade street life for wet food, attention, and a comfortable place to spend his golden years.

Senior cats often get overlooked, but stories like this are a reminder of how much affection they have to give. CC seems completely content with his new arrangement, and his humans sound just as happy with the unexpected addition to the family.

Unfortunately, that is something that happens more often than you would think. Some people shouldn't have pets. They are not ready for it. They are not ready for the weight of it, the responsibility that they would have over another creature. We've seen people abandon cats because they are sick, and it's suddenly "too expensive" and "not worth it". Some cats are the creme de la creme of quirky, and the fluffy cat, Simba, in our cat mom's post below from Reddit's r/Cats community, is one of them. She suspected something was wrong with him for a long time, to the point of bringing Simba to the vet and saying this:

Growing up in the 90s, we didn't have any accurate representations of queer people on TV. If there was a queer character, they were always a degrading stereotype: flamboyant for a gay man, and overly-masculine for a lesbian. This led to us feeling ostracized and extremely alone as we tried to navigate who we were as we matured through life. We struggled with feeling left out, and like there was no place for us in this world. School was awful, especially in our younger years when kids can be brutal to others for simply being different.

Luckily, our differences weren't physical, unlike the boy that we're representing from Reddit's r/MadeMeSmile community, who was born with heterochromia and a cleft lip. Heterochromia is a condition where your eyes are different colors, and it's extremely rare. In today's world, this condition would be celebrated and even envied, but back then, any sort of difference made you an outsider and a pawssible victim for the mean kids to pick on.

His name is Madden, and he's from Oklahoma.

Madden, like us, felt alone in his early years. His parents could see that he needed a companion, a friend who wouldn't judge him for his appearance. So, they took him to an animal shelter to adopt a family cat. Call it fate, call it destiny, call it whatever you want, but Madden found a cat with heterochromia and a cleft lip. Needless to say, Madden chose this cat without a second of hesitation.

Now the two are best friends, and neither of them ever has to feel alone again.

We love a Good Samaritan who saves a cat!

We can't imagine the stress and horror a person who has lost their cat goes through. Searching by foot, posting online, calling shelters and vet offices - cat pawrents would do anything to find their cats and bring them home. Cats are our family, and that's very clear. It was also clear to one woman whose cat was found by a kind man from the r/notmycat community. She searched for her cat for over 24 hours, and as cat pawrents ourselves, we can't even imagine what she had gone through.

Our beloved cat once fell from the third-floor window and disappeared. We were devastated, but that lasted for a couple of hours, until we found her under a bush, scared, confused, and hurt. Firstly, we have to say that we are obsessed with pawrents who take their cats on stroller rides. It's so cute. And who knew that such a heartwarming activity could lead to one of the cutest rescues we've seen from Reddit's r/Kittens subreddit?

On one of her daily evening stroller walks with her orange cat, Floki, our cat lover below heard a kitten "screaming its head off" as they walked by. Thanks to Floki, who responded more loudly to the kitten the closer they got, she eventually found the seriously smol gray kitten hiding in a patch of tall grass in a dark alley.

There's never a "right time" to find a cat, especially a young one who, technically, still needs their mom to help them do basic things, like go to the bathroom. But, if we waited for the right time to do everything, we would never achieve anything in life. When there is an abandoned baby right there in front of you, you don't think about the proper timing. You act first and ask questions later.

Cats can be…more than impolite. Where dogs are known for being friendly, devoted, and loving, cats are known to have many qualities that are the antithesis of those. Cats, as loving and friendly as they can be, aren't always that way. It really depends on the cat, and even the nice ones have a cat-esque air to them, meaning that they could be introverted, judgmental, sassy, or antisocial. On Reddit's r/cats, a person posted that a pregnant cat was found in the rain. It's unclear how long the cat has been there, but one thing is for sure: she needs safety. Being pregnant means she has different needs, and though the person doesn't know for sure if she's pregnant or not, she takes her in anyway. The cat is immediately sweet and affectionate, she's so grateful to be saved, and though a bit (understandably) skittish, she is friendly. She starts out very cautious, and even won't go up to the food that the woman provides. It takes more patience than that: she puts wet food on her finger and lets the cat lick it off of her gently. This brings them together quickly, and the cat gets more and more comfortable.

There's always the question of, "did this cat belong to someone else?" So the woman does what she should do and makes a post about the cat.
