Hi Everyone!

The MidAmerica GIS Consortium (MAGIC) is generously offering scholarships to MAGIC Symposium attendees. Scholarships are offered for registration fees only, either Symposium or Short Courses. This may be a good way to attend a short course that you could not otherwise afford or obtain partial symposium registration that you may not have budgeted for. Funds are limited, but we will do the best we can. MAGIC scholarships will be handled through IGIC and all paperwork, questions and comments through me.

Our secondary roads guys are seeing if there is an ArcPad tool that can show if they are 500 feet from an intersection, bridge, etc to set a new sign without having to use a wheel. Is there a measurement or buffer tool that works for this besides the standard measure tool that only shows the distance after you complete the line so you have to do it 10 times before you hit 500 ft?

This is a reminder that IGIC will be having two metadata training workshops in Ames, March 13 and 14th. We have plenty of room left. While we are hoping to get many county and state data producers to come, anyone in the Iowa GIS community is welcome.
We will be using an online metadata tool to create your metadata records. The completed metadata can be "published" in the Iowa Geospatial Data Clearinghouse so people can find your data. And the finished record can be exported to a file and you can use it with your own GIS data at home. Its really pretty cool. Part of training time will be devoted to creating metadata for GIS data you bring with you to the workshop.

The results of the IMOP-Metadata Survey have been posted on the Iowa GIS Service Bureau Website: [link].
There are two metadata training workshops coming up March 13th and 14th. March 13th will be focused on county users and March 14th will be focused on state users, although anyone is welcome to attend either event. There will be additional trainings this summer as well. I've got a city requesting information specifically about staff within cities that perform GIS-related tasks. We're finding, that in Iowa's medium to small cities, these aren't typically full-time or dedicated GIS positions, so they're hard to identify in our normal salary survey. To find this info, I'm resorting to leveraging the IGIC network via an email-based survey. My apologies for such a broad approach, but I can't seem to find where these positions are hidden!

I get an AttributeError when running this script below. My understanding is that this error usually means that the attribute that I am trying to access doesn't exist for that object. What's weird is instead of naming the attribute that doesn't exist; it follows the error with "exporting pages". I have talked to Mike Driscoll and he thought that someone using python in ArcGIS might know.
