Summertime here in the Philippines, and though it’s more fun here, I still have that dream of going to Disneyland. We’re a little deprived here when it comes to theme parks, and so the magic of Disney have always enchanted me. As I browse the latest Disney vacation packages online, I realize that my childhood dream is still far from my reach. Yup, far but I’m not saying it’s not reachable. My dream may still come true one day, who knows?

Wow, the nearby mall will be having a summer sale next week, and that only means one thing to me, time to shop! But I’m not eyeing on clothes this time, actually, I’m planning to buy me a Korg Keyboards so I can learn how to play one. I wanted to own one for years and now maybe the perfect time. I hope I could get a good deal.

I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the guitar, but I never had the opportunity nor the time to do so. But I’m still hopeful! One day I will definitely learn to play one. And when I do, I will not simply play a song, I will rock it using a gibson electric bass. Yeah that’s right, just wait and see. ;p

Do you sleep with the lights on or do want it to be completely dark? For me, I find it easier to sleep when the room is completely dark. Sometimes, especially when I only have few hours to spare, I’d even put some earplugs on so I won't be disturbed by any noise. So when the time comes that I can afford to build or buy my dream house, I’d be sure to install some roller shades in my room. It would not only make me sleep easy, but it also makes the house more elegant.

A friend noticed my new watch the other day, and she asked me where I bought it? But when I told her that I got it from an online store, she just shrugged and told me that it was too bad since she wanted to get one but she have some reservations with online shopping. She worries that the payment system is not secure or that she might encounter some bogus sellers. So, I informed her that trusted online stores have secure ach payments systems. I don’t know if that convinced her, meantime, I’ll just be shopping for a few more items online. [winks! ;)]

Stink'n Sink

The sink in our office pantry is broken again. The drain is clogged, so we have to go to a different floor to do our dishes. It must be wear and tear. I hope our office would hurry up and replace it with a new stainless undermount sink. It’s really inconvenient, especially during graveyard shifts. Hope they can fix it before it’s my turn.

It’s the first month of 2012, and I know it’s too early to speak of vacation plans but I really feel like I need one. If only I have the time and money to go out of town. If I could, I would want to visit Bohol again. I really enjoyed the beaches there and the people are very hospitable, not an irate soul in sight. I would also want to go on a road trip. Maybe I could ask some people to bring their car. It would be perfect since they also have a thule bike rack, so I can even go for a leisurely bike ride, maybe in Tagaytay? Oh! What a nice dream! If only it could come true…

His Watch

My father needs a new watch. I was planning to give him one last Christmas but due to some financial constraints, I was not able to do so. So this year, I’ll try to save up so I can buy him a new one. I heard there will be a big sale next month and I was eyeing some citizen watches for him. I’m trying to get the model that he most likely would want but is still within my price range. Hope it all works out, so sport a new watch.

My cute and chubby niece will be attending a New Year’s ball tomorrow and she’s a little worried about her dress. See, she bought a plus size prom dress for the event and now it seems that she wants a different one. It was only when we reassured her that the dress is looks good that she felt good about wearing it. And she sure looked pretty wearing that red ensemble. ;)

I thought the scanner in our office was broken, ‘cause when I tried to scan some documents no image would show up on the monitor then an error prompt would also pop up. Good thing that one of my techno savvy colleagues was there to assist me, and it turned out that the problem was with the scanning software. After he reinstalled the software, I didn’t encounter any more troubles. Yipee!

I want to learn how to create flash presentations. I know that it would be an advantage for me to have it as an additional skill in my C.V. I wonder if I can find some tutorial videos on it in YouTube. I’ll try to check later. I actually tried reading an eBook about it and it got me more confused. So I hope the video tutorial will much simpler then maybe I can get a job as a report designer.

The holidays is almost over, passed by like breeze didn’t it? Well since the 2011 is about to end, I’d like to do a list of the 5 top gifts that are commonly given during the holidays at our office. So here it goes…

Calendars – I bet you receive at least one of these during the holidays… ;p
Ball pens – somebody’s always losing one, so might as well give one
Pen holders – so you can avoid losing your pens… ;)
Chocolates – who can resist them anyways?
Fashion accessories – just be sure that the one you’re giving matches the personality of the recipient

The Arena

A new entertainment complex is being built beside the mall near our home. Once done it will be the new venue for concerts, sports events and the likes. My only concern is that it is being erected on a reclaimed area. I guess engineers had to consider so many factors with the design of this new attraction. It looks like steel buildings are much lighter, so they probably decided to use steel on most parts. I hope their design will stand the test of time and nature. In any case, I’m interested to see what it will look like when it is finished.

Since my mother is no longer covered by my company’s medical benefits, I want to get her a no exam life insurance. I wonder if any of the local insurance companies here offer that kind of policy. I hope they do. Having a life insurance really gives you a sense of security, so you can just concentrate on more important things, like having fun.

Future Cities: A Greener Earth

I was watching Future Cities earlier on Discovery channel and it’s interesting to see how scientists, architects and engineers visualize what a “future city” would look like. It’s good to know as well that they are all aiming for a greener environment, so they designed their buildings to be Earth friendly. They even incorporated farming space in skyscrapers. Using hydraulic hose, which can be powered by the sun or the wind to irrigate the crops. I hope their plans become a reality. We really need to restore & rejuvenate our planet.

We humans have been in constant search of ways to fight aging. It’s like we have this obsession to find the fountain of youth. Unfortunately for us, aging is a reality we are all doomed to face. Just like my aunt, aside from suffering from a stroke a few years ago, her age made her body frail. Now she also suffers from urinary incontinence, so she needs adult diapers. It’s a good thing that my cousin supplies her with adult diapers at disposablemedicalexpress.com. I know it’s especially hard for her to see her mom grow weaker, but what can we do other than accepting the fact?

, it seems that many people want to own one. I have to admit I’m quite intrigued by this latest model since it the last one that was released before Steve Jobs passed, so it must be special. But I got a little disappointed when I found out that you couldn’t use its Bluetooth feature to transfer files. Because according to it’s makers the Bluetooth is intended to be used to connect to Bluetooth accessories only like headsets or wireless speakers. I think it’s just a marketing strategy for Apple, but still for an expensive phone like this one, I never expected such limitations on its features.

True Artists

I really admire the ingenuity and artistry of Filipinos. A special feature on the makers of Christmas lanterns was shown earlier on TV; they were using recyclable materials to create the most lavish lanterns. With just some scrap bottles, light bulbs and some copper wire, they were able to create a stained glass like pattern for their lantern. It’s truly a sight to see. I’m so proud of them!

Until We Meet Again...

I recently lost my beloved pet cat, and as of now, I’m still in the process of mourning. He’s been with me for the past 7 years and it’s really hard to accept that he’s no longer with me. I can no longer play with him, when I need to relieve some stress. I can no longer pet him, when I feel sad. Some people may find it silly, but I feel like I lost a friend more than a pet. He was truly a friend to me, and I miss him terribly. The only comfort I find in all this is that I know he’s in Heaven, along with my other pets, and one day if I’m lucky enough I’d get to play with them again. I miss them all so much.
