An MDF file is a media disc image file, similar to a NRG or ISO file. It’s just another format used by disc mounting software. Alcohol 120% is a known program that will create MDF files. The MDF file is usually accompanied by a file with the MDS extension, where the track and header information is kept, while the MDF file stores the biggest chunk of the disc data. The typical use for the MDF file is the backing up of a disc and it’s often seen on torrent sites.

In order to open an MDF file you can use a couple of different programs, including Alcohol 120%, MagicISO, CyberLink PowerDVD 12, IsoBuster, WinMount and Daemon Tools.

The first one, Alcohol 120%, is commercial but it comes with a free trial and it will allow you to mount the MDF file. If you want to open the MDF file, Magic ISO will do that, and it will also mount it if necessary, but the trial version is a bit too limited for my taste. IsoBuster is one good choice, which has a free trial option without any time limits, but the one we’d recommend would be Daemon Tools, which is commercial, but it has a Lite version which doesn’t have time or functionality limits. In order to mount or open the MDF file you need to use either of those programs.

Minecraft players know already that this game can be incredibly fun and it’s especially so if you’re the one creating the rules by which you play it. Learning how to make a Minecraft server should be a must for everyone and on this page I’ll try to help you do just that, with instructions available for Windows, Mac OS X and for Linux.

The steps outlined below will allow you to create a Minecraft server by using the software provided for free by Mojang for this purpose. All three major operating systems can be used to create one, so you’re not forced to use just one of them.

Minecraft Server Download

First of all, you need to download the software which will be used to create the Minecraft server. You can do that from the official page, here. The file which needs to be downloaded is found under Multiplayer Server category on that page. There is an .exe variant for Windows, plus a .jar file which can be used on the other two operating systems.

Check out the file name after it’s downloaded, to make sure they are the same as on the web page, just in case the browser download changed it.

Minecraft Server for Windows

The first step you should undertake once you have the Minecraft server .exe file, is to update your Java software to the latest official version. In order to do that, go in Command mode and type java –version and press Enter. Typing cmd in the Run box will allow you to type that command.

In order to get started setting up a Minecraft server for Windows, open the file you downloaded from the official page, which should be called Minecraft_Server.exe. Doing that should result in the server starting up, while using the default configuration that comes with it. You will probably see a couple of messages telling you that it can’t find certain files, but it’s OK the first time, since it will create those files when it doesn’t find them.

If the result is a message telling you that server.properties can’t be saved, you should run MinecraftServer.bat as an Administrator.

After the server started, type stop in the command window of the server to stop it, allowing you to get into the config files and making some modifications if they’re needed.

Minecraft Server for Mac OS X

Creating a Minecraft server in Mac OS X is also possible, but since there is no official way of doing it, the tutorial is a bit more involved than with Windows.

The setup process for the multiplayer server for Mac OS X is started with the download step. You need the minecraft_server.jar file from the official download page mentioned above and it should be placed in a folder created on your desktop, with the name minecraft_server.

The next step is to use TextEdit in plain text format and to copy/paste in it this code:

#!/bin/bash cd "$(dirname "$0")" exec java -Xmx1G -Xms1G -jar minecraft_server.jar

Once you’ve done that, you can save your new file with the name start.command and the location should be the same as where the minecraft_server.jar file is located.

Next, go to the Terminal app by going in Applications/Utilities and starting it from there. Give your start.command file execute permissions for Public, Group and Owner. In order to do that, type chmod a+x (with the space after it included). The file should be dragged to the window of the terminal and then dropped there, after which you will press enter.

In order to start up the Minecraft server, double-click the file called start.command.

Minecraft Server for Linux

Once you’ve downloaded the .jar file from the official site, it’s time to run the file. If the file was placed in a folder called minecraft_server, the command would be this (replace that part with the name of your folder):

cd 'minecraft_server'

java -Xms1G -Xmx1G -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui

free -m

Minecraft Server Configuration

Not all servers will need extra configuration, but in case the server doesn’t run fine with the values that are default, you can do that.

In order to configure it, you should go to the file called server.properties. The editing of this file should be done with the help of a text editor which doesn’t add extra formatting.

The username should be added either to admin.txt or to ops.txt, depending on your version of Minecraft.

In order to connect to the server from the same machine where it’s running, you should choose the option called Multiplayer, use direct connect and when you’re asked for an IP type localhost instead.

I hope you’ve learned how to make a Minecraft server from this article. If you need to learn more, check out the official tutorials on this topic.

If you're looking for unblocked games at school, you've come to the right place. Check out this article on a few different solutions to this problem.

If you’re interested in unblocked games at school, the truth is that the options are pretty much endless these days, thanks to the widespread use of mobile phones. As long as you have a smartphone with Internet access, you can play any game you want, without worrying that it will be blocked by the school.

Now, below you will see some of the games you can play on your phone, which are designed for iPhone and Android. Choose any of them, or visit the official marketplaces and pick the games you want.

If you’re looking for unblocked games at school because you want to play something online, and your only WiFi connection in the area that will allow you to use bigger amounts of bandwidth is the one the school provides, then there are options for that as well. Even though the school might be blocking certain sites from being loaded from their Internet connection, there always option. You might not be able to play Facebook games this way, but there are other options, with browser based games. In browser based games you actually don’t consume that much bandwidth, so you might not even need the Internet provided by the school to get online.

Browser Based Unblocked Games at School

In order for a browser game to work well on a mobile phone, it would need to be created without Flash, or it should have a mobile phone version besides the browser based one.

Travian is one example of a browser based game that is loved by many and might just be permitted at your school. Try loading it yourself and see if it will work on their WiFi network. Either way, Travian is not that bandwidth intensive, since you’re basically loading web pages and that’s about it. At home you can use it from your laptop, and at school you can keep an eye on your account to guard it against attacks from your phone.

Ikariam is another of the unblocked games at school, and it’s also a browser based game, which only requires you to have an Internet connection in order to use it. You can use your Facebook account to register with them, or you can go with OpenID, or the usual registration route.

HTML 5 Browser Games

This is another option if you want to play some simple games, online, without requiring anything fancy. HTML 5 games should work on any platform, as long as they have a relatively recent browser, capable of using HTML 5 content. Try it for yourself on a few online games that use this technology and you might find them addictive, though they’re usually not very advanced.

iPhone & Android Game Apps

This is the easiest solution of all, if you don’t want to be subject to censorship from the school on the sites you can visit. Just download the game apps that you love to play from the official app markets, and start playing them whenever you have some free time and you’re feeling bored. There are thousands of games available on the market, for all tastes. Go with a few of them and see which one you enjoy playing. You will find games that are arcade style, card, car racing, strategy, shooters and so on. The options are endless.

As you can see, in this day and age, when technology and mobile devices are everywhere (it wasn’t always like this), finding games that are unblocked at school is not such a hard thing.

The Nokia Ace is rumored to be released in 2012 at AT&T, with Windows Phone 7 and 4G support.

It appears that the Nokia Ace will be the first phone which will come with 4G and Windows Phone 7 on it. This is one of the three phones which will be released at AT&T in the beginning of 2012, according to Paul Thurrott, a Windows blogger. The launch date for the Nokia Ace is expected to be on March 18th. The other two phones launched at AT&T with support for LTE will be HTC Radiant and Samsung Mendel.

The first rumors of the Nokia Ace appeared in October 2011 and they speak of a phone with an AMOLED screen of 4.3 inches, a camera of 8MP, a single core CPU at 1.4 GHz and internal storage of 16GB.

Microsoft announced that the Windows Phone marketplace reached 50,000 apps recently.

According to an announcement from Microsoft, its marketplace of apps for Windows Phone 7 and 7.5 now have over 50,000 apps. That’s obviously a small amount when you compare it with the 500,000 found on the App Store from Apple or the 300,000 available for Android. The 50,000 number counts both games and apps.

It appears that every single day there is an average of 265 apps being added to the market. During the last month, over 8,000 apps were added to the market. During the first year, the market had 40,000 apps added to it, but the last 10,000 were added in just 40 days.

Some other interesting figures are the free vs paid apps available. 58% of all apps available on the marketplace are free, 14% come with a trial period and the other 29% are paid.

Optimus U1 is the first smartphone from LG to come with Android Ice Cream Sandwich on it and the first picture is here.

The LG Optimus U1 is a smartphone which will be released in 2012. Its major feature right now, for us at least, is that it will come with the new operating system from Google, the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, making it the first LG phone with this OS on it. The LG Optimus U1 will have a dual core CPU, a 720p HD display and a front facing camera. That’s pretty much all we known right now about this phone.
