Saya Aono will play in Ladies Asian Golf Tour Event

2012 Yumeya Championship showcases HHIGJA talent

Part-time Hank Haney IJGA student, Saya Aono of Yamanashi, Japan, will put her training to the test this weekend at the 2012 Yumeya Dream Cup. The 3-day, 72-hole event will be held at the Hirao Country Club in Nagoya, Japan. Aono will be competing in a field of 120 ladies from the professional and amateur arena throughout Asia.

Saya Aono began training at the Academy and competing in International Junior Golf Tour events in January 2012. With an impressive record thus far (four out of four Top 3 finishes, including 1 win), we look forward to tracking Saya's game this weekend.

Shan Shan Feng Current Leader at World Ladies Championship

This week, China is being host to its First World Ladies Championship at Mission Hills Hainan's Vintage Course located in Southern China. This Championship, co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour and China LPGA Tour, is very unique because it features a three-in-one competition with players competing as both individuals and in teams, playing for the pride of their country.

The Championship was kicked-off on Thursday with a grand opening ceremony on picturesque Hainan Island, celebrating its first World Ladies Championship. For the Championship there is a total of 108 players, from countries all around the world.

Former Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy (HHIJGA) Student, Shan Shan Feng from Guangzhou, China, is currently tied for the lead after firing a first round of six under-par 66 to be one shot ahead of four other players. Feng is only 22 years old and is already ranked as the No. 12 player in the World.

After the round Feng said: "The course condition is much better than in the practice round. Distance isn't a problem. i used the short irons to the greens. For par 5's, I need two or three shorts to make the green which gives me good birdie opportunities." In the team competition Feng is paired with Yiying Ye and is currently at the top of the team leader board at 10-under-par.

Another former HHIJGA Student, Amelia Lewis from Jacksonville, FL., is currently even par, which puts her in being tied for 35th place. In her first year as a professional she was the 2010 Champion of the Suncoast Lake Whales Country Club, finished second at the 2010 Alliance Bank Golf Classic on the Symetra Tour - Road to the LPGA. In 2011, her best finish was a tie for 29th at the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup.

Our current HHIJGA Student, Yi Chen Liu from Taiwan, is currently leading the individual amateur race at two under par 70. In Liu's first round she was one of the first players to tee off in a humid condition while in the afternoon it was more breezy. The battle of the amateur title is featuring eight young players, where Liu is currently one stroke ahead of 14-year-old Lydia Ko from New Zeeland.

Teaching Junior Golf Around the World!

Director of Golf at Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy (HHIJGA), Matt Fields, joined the Albatross Junior Tour India to run a three-day golf school. The Albatross Tour is host to IJGT Asia events throughout the year.

Fields worked hand-in-hand with seven junior golfers using the most advanced instruction methods to analyze every part of the young golfers’ games. The golf school included lessons dealing with each junior’s full swing, short game, course management, and mental training. Fields ran his lessons out of Karma Lakelands where he had the players play 18 holes in order for him to make the proper assessments on each of their games.

The “golf school” will become a regular event and is expected to make an enormous impact on the junior golf calendar in India. Most importantly the HHIJGA will be giving invites to India’s top junior golfers so they can acquire the same premium training that the HHIJGA students receive daily.

Matt Fields has been with the HHIJGA since 2005. Matt has coached some of the most decorated junior golfers in the world and currently travels world-wide to be a guest instructor at some of the most prestigious junior golf sites.

Lui Invited to Play in Worldwide Event!

Hank Haney Student Will Compete in The World Ladies Championships

Yi Chen Lui, of Taoyuan, Taiwan, a Haney Haney International Junior Golf Academy (HHIJGA) student, has been extended an exclusive offer to join the 108-player field at the inaugural World Ladies Championship. The World Ladies Championship will be held in Haikou, Kainan, China on Mission Hills Kainan’s Vintage Course on March 2-4, 2012. The Mission Hills Group looks to continue its success in providing world-class golf at every level as The World Ladies Championship will cap Mission Hills Group having offered majors in every competitive format.

Lui is a coveted newcomer to the HHIJGA as she continues to exemplify a strong command of her game while also demonstrating a strong work ethic. In her first tournament as a student at the HHIJGA, Lui put together two solid rounds on her way to being crowned Champion at the IJGT Florida Swing at Innisbrook Resort. Lui’s next tournament will be the IJGT Carolina Major Championship at Kiawah Island, S.C. on February 18-19, 2012 where she looks to continue her strong play.

IJGT Asian Circuit makes showing in New Delhi

As the midway event in the fall Hank Haney IJGT Asian Circuit, the October 20-21st tournament in New Delhi, India had an impressive showing of junior golfers. The 2-day, 36-hole tournament at Jaypee Greens Golf Resort (shown below) served as the 2nd Annual Indian Qualifier for the 2011 Hank Haney International Junior Golf Tour Asian Tournament of Champions.

The top 3 finishers in each of the two oldest boys and girls divisions earned eligibility for the Asian Tournament of Champions to be held in December. The champions will additionally be invited to participate in the 2012 International Junior Golf Tour Bridgestone Tournament of Champions at the Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando, Florida. With the opportunity to compete against the top junior golfers from around the world, this 2011-2012 season finale event is sure to impress.

In attendance at the Indian Qualifier was Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy’s Director of International Business Development, Patrick O’Toole. O’Toole was extremely impressed by the competition he observed last weekend stating, “I was fortunate to witness some amazing displays of golf. The passion and dedication the Indian junior golfers showed was truly inspiring. The game of golf is certainly growing in India and the future is very bright. IJGT, in partnership with Albatross Junior Tour, is committed to growing the game and providing Indian golfers with the opportunity to play and compete not only on a national stage but an international one as well.”

Hank Haney IJGA and the IJGT are proud to include the Asian Circuit in the realm of competition and look forward to continued growth in the future. Next stop on the Hank Haney IJGT Asian Circuit will be in Seoul, Korea at the Oak Valley Country Club on November 7-9.

The results at a glance: In the Boys 15-19 division, Arjun Singh took 1st with a 2-day total of 141, followed by Abhishek Kumar with a score of 149 on the par 144 course. The Boys 11-14 division saw similar scores by 1st place winner Feroz Singh Gereway at an even-par 144 and 2nd place winner Piyush Sangwan scoring 148. Combining the Girls divisions proved to up the competition. Beyond the division winner, Seher Atwal, securing an 8-stroke win at 154, 2nd and 3rd place winners Isabell Rahm and Ridhima Dilawari saw only a 2 stroke difference – 162 and 164, respectively. WINNERS - IJGT HANK HANEY QUALIFIER

The 24th Albatross Junior Golf Tournament was the qualifier for the IJGT Hank Haney Asian Circuit leading up to the Asian Tournament of Champions (ATOC) to be held in Mission Hills, China from the 10-12th of December, 2010. The qualifier was held at the Jaypee Greens Golf Course. The winners who have qualified to compete in the ATOC are as follows:

Evendale Country Club Results - South Korea

The Hank Haney IJGT Asian Circuit event in Korea was completed this week. We had close to 100 participants competing in the city of MiWonmyun at the challenging Evendale Country Club.
